The crab was from Alabamaif I remember and we threw it away because it was not edible. The oysters were tasty but not very big. Today I just bought 20 oysters in the Shell. Not only are they small, but they sound hollow. They also don't take much effort to open. So I doubt that I will drive by Little River anymore. I pay extra and get my Seafood there from now on. It's a shame, because Kellums used to be very dependable and fresh with consistency.

We wanted an actual sit-down restaurant so we could take a break, and what we see is a fresh fish market. It's a really old rundown looking fish market. But like I said, we were really hungry, and there were a few vehicles there. Some had people eating in them, so we went inside. As soon as we walked inside, the smell of fresh seafood hit us. It didn't sink. It smelled really fresh. There's 2 counters inside and no place to sit. The only seating is picnic tables outside. The first counter is the fresh raw seafood, and the 2nd way off to the left is for placing your order. We kill about for a bit while looking at the handwritten menu. An older man with a Russian accent and the sea weathered appernce you'd expect in a lifelong fisherman was helping other customers. When it our turn,it was a hard decision because it seems you can have them cook any of the seafood from the other counter. We both went with the classic fish in chips. What we got to a while as it's completely made to order. Yo! This fish was in the ocean swimming yesterday! It's that fresh! So, the fish was fried flounder filet, and the fries were standard frozen fries with old bay type seasoning. This was the best fried fish I'd had in a very, very long time. They have a very wide range of fresh and prepared local seafood. We got 4 crab cakes, about a pint of scallops and two pints of homemade clam chowder which came to $53. We got a quart of oysters, but they didn't make it in the bag (we were talking with the young lady and probably distracted her), but I don't think we were charged for them (we didn't get a receipt). We didn't go back for the oysters because we live 35 minutes away. Their website said the oysters were $32/quart but they were $26/quart at the store, so that was a pleasant surprise. They were local Rappahannock River oysters, so they were a good price. The crab cakes were all meat, no noticeable filler. My wife found them too spicy, but I found them just right. The scallops were pieces, but the young lady told us that before we bought them and it was their last bag. The scallops were fresh and tasty. Worth the 35 minute drive and we will definitely go back.
