Used Dr. Wong for a long time until becoming an adult. I'm someone who doesn't hate dentists but isn't the best with them(not good at the whole breathing through my nose part). But trust me, Dr. Wong a wonderful person who deeply cares, and he does his best to make you or your kid feel comfortable. Everyone seems to do their best to care about their patients rather than just treat and then forget about them. Only thing I would advise you to keep in mind is that they might sometimes speak with a bit of candor, in my opinion, that either you like or don't. I personally had no issue with this, but keep this in mind if it's something you're not a fan of. But if that isn't a problem for you, I would recommend him for your child. read more

Both my daughters have been with Dr. Wong since they were 2-3 years old. My oldest just graduated HS and she just had her very 1st cavity and filling at 18 years old. Dr.Wong made a special visit to our preschool class. The students were ages 3 to 5 years old. Dr. Wong spoke to the children about the importance of dental hygiene. He brought his helper, Mr. Monkey a stuffed animal . All the students had the opportunity to brush and floss the stuffed animal teeth. Dr. Wong discussed about which foods help our teeth grow healthy, the importance of brushing. We are thankful for this opportunity. I am sure most of our students will be seeing him again. read more

My kids were last here February of 2020 and I'm writing a review over a year later because I can't get over my experience with the dentist. I want to preface this by saying that my kids liked Dr Wong and had a positive experience. With that said, what more can a parent ask for, right? Well, my own personal experience with the dentist was not as pleasant that I ended up taking my kids to another pediatric dental group and I now understand why the person who referred me to Little Smile Makers was a little hesitant about it. I liked the entire staff from the receptionist to the hygienist but I did not like the dentist himself. He was condescending. He ordered me to stop giving my kids multivitamin gummies. He didn't even bother to ask why I did not want to do that nor did he even suggest alternatives to gummy vitamins. If he was open to discussion over why I felt the need to give my kids multivitamin gummies, I would've been a lot more receptive and would've continued going there. But he just outright commanded that I stop giving them gummies because of cavities. To be clear, one kid to this day has no cavities and the other kid still only has the 2 cavities since the dentist discovered them 18 months ago and I continue to this day give them multivitamin gummies. When the dentist was filling one of the teeth with cavities for my child, he was huffing and puffing over how my 5 years old would lose focus and slowly close his mouth and he huffed and puffed on how dare my child be congested while he's working on his mouth. Look, it's not my kid's fault that my child has chronic allergies. Again this was before the pandemic hit. When they were able to open their practice up again during the pandemic so that they could fix my child's 2nd tooth, they told me that I could not be in the room with my child while he was getting the last tooth filled. When it dawned on me that I did not trust leaving my child without my supervision under his care, I could not bring my kids to this dental practice anymore. I now see a different pediatric dentist who I trust to leave my kids without me being in the room. read more

Based on all of the positive yelp reviews I picked this dental office. Almost all of the reviews are positive and all for Dr. Wong. He doesn't work on Fridays so I ended up seeing Dr. Joanna Cheung. My child has been here about 4 times, a few cleanings and one filling. The hygienists have all been wonderful and are very gentle with the kids. They are very cautious to try to make the child feel comfortable and try to use positive reinforcement. They say things like "once you're done you can get your stickers"etc. I have nothing but good things to say about the hygienists. Now onto Dr. Cheung...she's not great. When she filled my child's cavity she seemed to get annoyed that she was moving around and getting antsy. My daughter was only 3 at the time so moving around and crying during a filling is typical. Dr. Cheung just lacked the "human touch" in my opinion and didn't know how to comfort my daughter. She even said several things that really did not sit well with me. She said to my daughter "if you don't sit still I'm going to turn off the video and you can't watch it" and "if you move you won't get a toy later". She said a few other things along those lines which really annoyed me. That is now how you approach and "comfort" a crying 3 year old. I felt she only made the situation worse. My daughter used to like the dentist until that filling incident. Fast forward six months and we are back for a cleaning. My daughter cried even more the hygienist started cleaning her teeth because she still remembers the bad experience from the previous filling appt. Then comes Dr. Cheung to examine my daughters teeth. She's lacking the fun personality that's needed when engaging with kids. Then she starts nagging me about flossing. I get it, it's her job to educate me and encourage flossing. Again, her approach was all wrong and she spoke to me in a very condescending manner. I'm a grown ass person, I get it, move it...don't nag. I had to tell her to stop nagging, yes, she was that annoying. I'm going to switch over to see Dr. Wong to give this place another chance. My suggestion, don't bother with Dr. Cheung. read more

Dr. Wong and his staff are "awesome" I have been in the dental field (Orthodontics) for over 30+ years and I am very hard to please. My grandson who is 7 went in for an extraction. We have been patients of doctor Wong for 4 years now. Both of my kids love him! He is so friendly and is amazing with making the kids feel comfortable. The staff is great and they are the best, even when one of my kids doesn't have an appointment, they always are so generous and make them up a goodie bag as well as a coin to get a toy from the machine. My kids love that they get to pick a prize at the end! More recently, my son slipped and fell and had a mouth injury. I called the doctor but they recommended that I call his dentist. Dr.Wong squeezed us in on short notice and was so accommodating. He put me at ease once he took a look at my sons mouth, I don't think I could've slept that night had they not gotten us in. They were just so great and I really appreciate the business that he has built, it's solid for sure. read more

This dentist is THE DENTIST you want to take your children to. He is so kind and makes the kids feel so comfortable that they will NOT FEAR the dentist as so many of us do. This will probably sound crazy...BUT...my youngest two daughters say these exact words to me. "When are we going back to see Dr. Wong?" Need I say more? My daughter hit her mouth and pushed her front teeth back...pretty badly. I rushed her to our normal/adult dentist who is also wonderful and she did nothing but scream the whole time. She wouldn't even let our dentist look in her mouth...it was crazy! The following day, she woke up with the side of her face completely swollen...it had abscessed....and turned in to an infection. When I called our dentist, she let me know that I really needed to take her to a children's dentist. We found Dr. Wong via a referral from a close friend and my kids have been IN LOVE since then. My daughter had no problem letting him look at her mouth, do X-Rays, etc. The whole appt. was nothing short of a miracle if you had seen her reaction prior. I cannot give Dr. Wong a strong enough referral...He deserves 10 Stars out of 5, he is that good! read more

First of all I was recommended by a friend that use this dental office. I wanted a dental office close by so I thought we'll try it. They booked an afternoon appointment for all 3 of my girls. I show up with all three kid and they tell me there's no appointment and ask if I was at the right office and place. They even said this has never happened before. Checked computer no files of our last name and then they look in binder and said that we have a paper file but not sure what happened. No apologies made and said they can do tomorrow. I can't do tomorrow and the appt. I made originally was two weeks ago. Meanwhile my daughter spilled juice on the floor and screaming Mom! And the other reception yelled " there's tissue over there." I was recommended to Dr. Wong by a friend after not being happy with another dental office. Dr. Wong reviewed the previous dentist's assessment and suggested monitoring my child's dental issue. Visits later, the dental issue has not gotten worse and continues to be an issue to be monitored. I took my little one to see Dr. Wong after an unsatisfied visit at another dental practice down the block. Dr. Wong and his staff showed genuine cares and interests for their little patients. He could get my daughter to be at ease in her chair, which is a miracle. He took time to educate to me, the parent, explained the science behind teeth and everything you need to know to take care of them. I highly recommend his office. I really want to like this place. Dr. Wong and other assistants were great. My daughter came in for regular check-up twice, did great and loved the little gifts brought home with. However, they have very poor scheduling system. Each time after check-up, I like to schedule the next 6-month check up at the front desk. But no one seems to keep my appointment in system. No call back for appointment reminder. First time, I took it as accident and rescheduled by calling them. Second time, I called and left message on the Friday afternoon for confirming the upcoming Monday appointment. NO ONE calls back. Disappointing with their customer service. My daughter has been coming here pretty much since they opened. (My son goes here now too...he's 2). My daughter adores Dr. Wong. He's fantastic with kids. Friendly, funny...makes them feel calm and relaxed. Fortunately we've never had to use him for an emergency (like Nadine). For all the reasons already stated and more, Little Smile Makers is an exceptional place to take children for dental care. Dr. Wong is gentle, connects well with kids and has toys set up so that they kids can play the dentist with stuffed animals before they become the patient. I've been amazed to see what a great job Dr. Wong does with my 4 year old who can hardly sit still. He's sent us home in the past with a dental kit designed to help my child become more comfortable with going to the dentist and it has worked. Additionally the ambiance is so kid friendly, it makes it easy for kids to enjoy themselves. Sadly they are no longer in network with my insurance carrier, which is my only complaint, but I won't hold that against them. read more

My daughter loved going to see Dr. Wong. He is so nice and friendly to kids. For any parent whose child is scared of dentist - they should definitely come here. My 3 stars is because of the way they deal with kids with cavities. I came to Dr. Wong because my daughter had a small cavity on her front teeth. For some reason, he didn't fill the cavity. We came again, he didn't fill it. He kept "cleaning" her teeth. Finally he said she had other cavities and reccomended putting my daughter under general anesthesia so they can fill them all. My daughter is really good on the chair and is not nervous at all. I did not understand why they could not just TRY to fill the cavities the normal way. I talked to other parents and I guess that putting kids to sleep is the new way dentist prefers to fill cavities. It makes them more money, there is zero chance of dealing with a scared kid and they can do all the cavities in little time. As the parent, it is not my preference to handle cavities this way for my kid, esp when these teeth are going to fall out in 3-4 years. It seems like a lot of medicine and alot of money, so I was not falling for it. I talked to parents that did the procedure and they would not reccomend it as it was the scariest experience to have their kid iv'd so much medicine. As you can guess, general anesthesia is not covered by insurance. As a determined parent to get my daughter's cavities filled - I found a wonderful dentist that was willing to try. Within 2 months, we were able to fill all 6 of her cavities. Our new dentist's technique for giving novocaine shots worked well. My daughter did NOT feel a thing. The topical anesthesia and her being busy watching Barbie on the tv kept her from noticing what was going on. She was on the chair for almost 90 min. My daughter just turned 4. If you are in a similar situation with wondering if general anesthesia is right for your kid - feel free to message me. I would say just try. If your kid freaks out, then I guess you need to do it. I came here for a 2nd opinion for my 3 year old son since his regular dentist recommended anesthesia. I wanted to find another option for my 3 year old and Dr. Wong came highly recommended by someone I trust. First off, I'm not impressed! The front desk ladies were having private conversations about their personal lives while I was sitting in the waiting room with my son. I can hear everything they were saying. So unprofessional! The lady who had me go into the little room to verify my son's information and also give me pricing information really pissed me off. She should add some friendliness to her face. Her smiles were too damn fake for my liking and when my 3 year old was turning the lights on and off, I could tell she was not happy. Her face showed how much she hates kids and she's working in a pediatric dental office! During her pricing breakdown with me, her whole demeanor spelled out B-I-T-C-H and she condescendingly talked down to me as if I wasn't comprehending what she was talking about. This woman really did it for me and that is the major reason I'm writing this review! I can't believe these are the types of people handling the front desk and Admin work. Next, Dr Wong was nice! I liked him and his customer service. But guess what? His prices before insurance are super high! 65% higher than my son's other pediatric dentist...this all means more patient out of pocket costs. Lastly, Dr Wong determined 9 cavities were found in my 3 year old. Well, his regular pediatric dentist said 6 while I had my own dentist take a look who also said 6. That is quite a difference! Dr Wong was great for a few years until this year his staffs and him snapped at us because we didn't want our 5 years old son to get x-ray since he had one last year. As a parents u don't go against our will unless its life threatening but its not. After we said no Dr Wong n his staffs got upset and said something which is not really appropriated in front of our child.....The cleaning service was not satisfied that day either. Best pediatric dentist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dr. Wong knows his stuff and is always super nice and easy to talk to. He's not a scary dentist, he is one that you are always happy seeing and want to go see. There are always little small gifts that he gives to the kids when they go see him and there are tvs around each chair so while you're waiting or while you are getting your teeth cleaned you can watch movies! The place is a nice place to be in too because there are a lot of stuffed animals and colors everywhere. If you need to take your kids or any kid to see a dentist, take them to Dr. Wong. Not knowing where to start looking for a dentist for my 3 year old, I turned to Yelp. Dr Wong and staff were very nice and welcoming. My son never cried or showed any hesitation to be there. There are flat screen TVs in front of the dental chair, so while the Dr was working on my son's teeth, he got to watch Finding Nemo. He even got a goody bag! Very Very pleased with everything! They said yes we accept dental insurance from Delta dental, they didn't take time research there is Delta Premium and PPO. They are not in network of Delta Dental PPO. I end of have to pay $130 for the cleaning. When i call back to them, they are not willing to work with me. She didn't even want me talk to their Doctor. I will say Dr wong is nice Dr to kid, but when you have to pay that much money just for cleaning there is tons of Dr out there. read more

However, when your child needs urgent services in they've been referred to you by their dentist, you would think that they would make an effort to schedule an appointment. When we called, they couldn't get us in for over a month for teeth that were almost so in repair a bowl that they needed to be pulled out.
