My boiler went down while I was on vacation. Ficks came out right away and repaired the parts( over…read morenight expense which Ficks absorbed ) and had my house warm in no time. The technicians were very knowledgeable and explained the issues with me so I would have some idea if future issues surfaced. The customer service was excellent. If you are a customer paying Fick's Mechanical directly and not going through a home warranty…read morecompany, maybe you will receive better service. Unfortunately, that was NOT my experience. Fick's Mechanical was assigned to me through American Home Shield to service my central air unit. My service request was opened in late May, and here we are at the end of August and my AC still has not been serviced/repaired. Almost an entire summer! Things started off pretty decent, but the red flags quickly started showing once my diagnostics was completed and it was time to order a coil for my furnace. Communication is terrible. They barely answer the phones if you reach out too much, and when you finally reach someone and are promised a return call, don't count on actually receiving one. There were also delays with getting the necessary paperwork and information submitted to my home warranty company, which only added more time to an already lengthy process. My biggest issue was a situation with the part delivery and appointment. I was told the part had been ordered and eventually received an appointment with a service window. I took off work to be home for this appointment. THREE HOURS into my scheduled 8a-12p window, I received a call saying they had the wrong part and couldn't do the service. How do you schedule a customer for a repair without confirming beforehand that you actually have the correct part? When I expressed how inconvenient this was after taking off work, I was basically told it was "out of their control when these things happen and the owner is not going to do or give you anything for this inconvenience" and that they would now order the correct part. There was no real accountability or concern for the fact that my time and a day without pay had been wasted. If everything regarding my unit, diagnosis, and required part had been properly documented from the beginning, I still don't understand how the wrong part was ordered and this wasn't discovered until the day of my appointment. Make it make sense. The lack of accountability with this company is baffling. Whenever there was a delay, error, or something fell short, it seemed as though the responsibility was constantly being shifted back to the home warranty company. I understand that American Home Shield has its own processes and procedures, but the warranty company does not run Fick's Mechanical's business, answer their phones, return their customers' calls, submit their paperwork, order their parts, or provide their customer service. At some point, a company has to take accountability for the part of the process that IS within its control instead of making every issue seem like it falls on the warranty company. Eventually after me reaching out to AHS and for them to reach out to Ficks Mechanical essentially an appointment was made yet again. After experiencing issue after issue, I decided to read their reviews and noticed that several other customers described similar experiences. At that point, I ultimately decided to end my service request with Fick's Mechanical. My reasoning was simple, if I was already this unhappy with the service, communication, delays, lack of accountability, and overall experience before they even completed the work, what confidence should I have that I wouldn't experience additional problems during or after the repair? I wasn't willing to take that chance with my home or my money. Fick's Mechanical had lost my trust and confidence. I refuse to pay my hard-earned money toward an out-of-pocket portion to a company when I am already uncomfortable with the level of service I've received. Customers deserve communication, transparency, accountability, follow-through, and respect for their time. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Fick's Mechanical, especially if they are assigned to you through a home warranty company.

However, my appreciation and rating is based on the work, as well as the price. The two electricians who showed up were fantastic. Jason and Todd were one of two teams that GSW has, and they were excellent. They had the outline of the job, but talked with me to get all the details and my preferences. I was really impressed. I deal with a lot of contractors, and these guys were good. They mapped out the installation plan and deferred to me how I wanted things done, made recommendations and gave solid advice on the project. The workmanship was very good and the guys really have skill. The were exceptionally careful to not damage anything and made sure that the electrical install worked perfectly at each stage before moving on to the next phase. They encouraged me to ask questions and gave honest, no BS answers on it all. I was very impressed. Highly recommend GSW and Jason/Todd. Will hire again!

The man answering the phone basically told me me that they forgot we had an appointment. Understandable, I guess, and made another appointment for for later that day for them to arrive between 3-4pm. I have called another service provider and now realize their quoted hourly rate is very high. I would not let them waste your time with missed appointments and poor service.

We…read morehad two service calls from Long Electric, the first was a scheduled day-long visit with two excellent electricians who chased down various circuits in our new-old house (moved in a 2 months earlier). They identified several pre-existing issues and rectified several concerns we had with the work a previous owner had performed. All good now! The second visit was an emergency call that resulted from another contractor inadvertently damaging our well power line. Jason Long (the owner) and Jeff T. came out first thing this morning and made it all right again. I find people in Frederick to generally be friendly and professional, but these gentlemen represent the best this area has to offer in neighborliness, professionalism and going beyond the norm to set things right. This is a small independent company that is simply excellent in their service and professionalism. Thank you again, we appreciate your commitment!

Great electricians; just make sure the company commits to your timeline up front…read more Luis and Jeff, the two Master electricians on our kitchen renovation, were excellent, professional, personable, and genuinely skilled. Whenever they and their helpers were on site, the work was first-rate, and I'd welcome either of them back without hesitation. My one real reservation is staffing. We gave the company our strict timeline a full six months in advance, but for the first four months the crew was here only sporadically; which delayed our project and pushed our other contractors behind schedule too. The last three weeks they were here almost every day and accomplished a tremendous amount, which honestly just made me wish that commitment had been there from day one. For anyone comparing bids, the rates run a little higher than some but the quality of the work backs it up. If the company dedicates its people to your job from the start, you'll be in great hands. The talent is clearly there, and we're happy with the finished result.

He suggested that I improve the hose connection to prevent water leakage. After I did so, the problem remained. I called back the electrician, who said that evidently the problem was in the pump itself and that it should be replaced. The electrician was friendly and courteous. I understood that they needed to charge an inspection fee, but what seemed excessive and unfair was the categorization of diagnostic levels that raised the cost of the service call beyond what I considered a reasonable expense for the type of repair needed. For this reason, I cannot recommend this company. It would have been better to work with a company that charges an hourly rate. I will never use this company again - the fees they charge for the service rendered, despite their politeness and friendliness, are simply too costly. The determination that a pump servicing a fountain needed to be replaced cost me $500 plus their inspection fee. Outrageous!

I HATE LEAVING BAD REVIEWS, BUT ITS MY DUTY TO WARN OTHERS ABOUT SITUATIONS LIKE THIS!!…read moreNeeded to get a Generac generator installed. The company I went through, used Clinton Electric for the install. Appointment was set. Estimator from Clinton Electric came out. Did the walk through, told me what I would need,(Some things sounded questionable), he claimed some things needed to be "up to code" and he stated that "A whole house generator is a LUXURY." Recieved the estimate by email..a whopping $18,000 plus. Now I understand that it cost to install a whole house generator, but what I DIDN'T understand, is HOW is it that The Generator cost about $7,600 plus, for a 24,000KW unit...and that meant the INSTALL ALONE, would be OVER $11,000, which I thought was RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED!!! Contacted Clinton Electric via email, was informed that the Estimator would call back the same day, because I requested a copy of the breakdown in prices. Here it is OVER a week later, and NO ONE called. I will be getting the Generator one way or the other, but I will NOT be paying $11,000 just for the install that I was being charged by Clinton Electric Company. I WILL NOT BE USING THEM. Total rip off!! GO ELSEWHERE!! After reading many other reviews, I have noticed the same pattern, where others said that this company was "OVERPRICED." That have also been my experience.
