We just purchased a house in downtown Frederick so we have been having a lot of work done by several companies. Long Electric has been the most pleasant to work with. Melissa is very responsive to emails and questions. Right before work was scheduled to start, we actually found out we needed approval from HPC before having the job done and Long Electric was super flexible when we needed to reschedule last minute. I was also very impressed with their etiquette. They had had to come in and out in of the house all day to access the panel downstairs and they were so careful to keep our floor clean (it had just snowed outside) by setting up a tarp from the door to the basement. One of the guys even pointed out a completely separate issue he happened to see regarding a pipe that needed our attention--I was so grateful for this heads up because I never would have noticed and it could have led to a costly disaster! I used Long Electrical to install two safety outlets that were identified as needs during the sale inspection of my home in Frederick. This company is very easy to work with, and they respond rapidly to your inquiry. There were no hidden costs, and their service electrician was on time and very courteous. I was his first appointment of the day (7 am) and he even called me on the phone to let me know he was at the house before knocking on the door :) He was in and out in a jiffy too! I found Long was much better than Michael's, who I had a contract with last year (unfortunately) and found to be way overpriced and not very customer-oriented. Long Electric installed a Generac generator at our home 3 years ago. Their price was highly competitive (I had 2 other bids) and the generator they installed has run beautifully. I was impressed by their ability to set a near-term date to install the generator, when the other two bidders couldn't because of supply isues. Back then derechos and other nasty storms had factory production of home generators backed up--a fact which did not affect Long Electric, since they are a Generac dealer and had on-site inventory. The installation technicians were very professional, nice, and worked hard for a difficult fan install. They made sure to go the extra mile to clean up and vacuum any mess that was created. Very good value for the work performed. The in house customer service was great, however it took a while to get my quote after initial consult, and the head electrician who performs the estimate should really work on his people skills, he came across abrasive and cold like he didn't want to there to my wife and I wanted to look for another contractor, but gave him the benefit of the doubt and his employees made up for it. read more

We've worked with Long Electric a couple of times now and we are very happy with their service. We recently had a power surge after a storm that blew out our heat pump and some electric sockets. The electrical in my Potomac house was setup by long electric and it was setup correctly. The power goes off during the Windy storm and the whole house generator did not kick in. I called Long Electric and find out the Unit was not maintained under them. Melissa was able to find a engineer and send him in within 1.5 hours. Jimmie fixed the problem and ran a full test with me. This morning at 5:00am my power went off. 10-15 seconds later I heard the startup of my new generator. About 10 seconds after that, my home lit up nice and bright. I was advised the technicians would be at my house between 0700-0800. At 0710 the two technicians arrived and went to work.
