The Nash Ranch (NR) is Shasta County's "original" Pumpkin Patch (PP) since 1991. NR is a real working farm that actually grows its own pumpkins, as well as a host of other things (i.e., alfalfa, oats, barley, and bird seed millet). Family farms are hard to hang onto...the costs roll in all year without anything coming in ie water, labor, seed, taxes. And then there is a summer with 119 degree summer days with weeks of triple digits. Pumpkin production is lowered. Despite hardships, Nash Family makes the Ranch work, while still sharing generously with the community.

In that short time, she already had such traumatic experiences she developed PTSD. She has also been diagnosed with AdHD, Autism, depression and anxiety. When she was 3, we found Roughout Ranch. She has loved horse since she was a baby. I was hoping to find a program that would fit her needs. There are others in our area, I visited with their clients (who seemed happy with them). But I just didn't feel they were right for my little one. However, Roughout Ranch has been perfect. Her visits are just her (even before the pandemic). My grandson also goes and they often will have their visits scheduled together. Kathy still tailors the visits according to their individual needs. My daughter has become so much more patient and aware of other's feelings. They are also working on conquering some of her fears. You can definitely tell when she has not been to the ranch in awhile. I only wish she could visit everyday!

We chose Woody's because our little one wanted mac 'n cheese and they have some of the best in town! I cannot rave enough about the restaurant and how well they handled the party. The booking process was easy and completed via e-mail. This aspect was handy as I didn't have to leave the house or make a phone call on a busy day. The gentleman I spoke to answered all of my questions during the booking process. On the day of the party, we showed up a few minutes early to put up some decorations. A waitress and waiter came and greeted us right away. The owner even came by, promptly, and introduced himself to me. The kindess and professionalism was outstanding. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name! I feel terribly that I can't provide it.) did an outstanding job! We were a big group of people and she took all of our orders, answered questions, and helped us with anything we needed. I hope it can be determined who worked that day so she can be given her kudos as she was lovely! Lastly, the kitchen staff did a great job getting our food out in a timely manner. I was impressed by their speed and the food was delicious. As the restaurant was busy, we didn't have a chance to say thank you one final time before we left. So, thank you again, Woody's! Why would she have everyone drive three hours for the wedding when no one lives near here ? Come to the property and discover her reasons. Truly in the countryside. Huge parking lot with attendants to guide you. Lots of mature trees. Ponds. Fabulous fountain. Spacious grassy areas. Nice restroom facilities with changing room upstairs. Large barn. Yard games. The fall pictures will be incredible. The green lawn with white chairs, and brick path leading to an outdoor raised alter as the breeze tosses leaves all around. The natural area here is just plain gorgeous. While pictures were taken before and after the ceremony, horseshoe pits, giant connect four, and frisbee games were available to the guests to play on the lawn. After the ceremony we go to the barn, where it is a perfect up. An area for buffet service, a small kitchen for the caterers to set up in complete with industrial refrigerator and sinks. A bar area. DJ or band stage. Large dance floor. Large seating area with tables and chairs. Rustic, but very clean. The chandeliers are an awesome touch. The entire venue seems so well organized from a guest's perspective. BTW - for those that want to enjoy an event here, Redding Lyft does deliver and pick you up.

The Turtle Bay Farmers' Market (TBFM) is run by healthyshasta.org, and is a certified farmers'…read moremarket--"certified" meaning that the CA Department of Agriculture has inspected the farms to ensure the produce being sold at the markets is CA grown. This is a tiny market that had only five unimpressive stands (×2 fruit; ×1 tamale; ×1 eggs; & ×1 clothing/jewelry) on the day I visited. Here are some quick facts: -All the stands accept EBT (aka food stamps) -Located in the Sun Dial Bridge parking lot, in the Turtle Bay Exploration Park. -Runs on Sundays only from June 8th - October 19th, 2014 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Check the Healthy Shasta website for the 2015 schedule, but I reckon it'll be similar. I was not impressed with the TBFM, and it should be a 2-star review. However, to be fair, I caught them at the end of their season, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and bump it up to 3-stars. Eat fresh!
