Almost every night, we took a quick 12-minute walk over to the delicious and beautiful Waller's Supper Club for dinner and old fashioneds, where we enjoyed the complimentary pontoon rides around the adjacent lake. We selected a deluxe campsite right on the water, and family members booked the spot next to ours. We have two pugs, and our family has one small dog. The reviews had us a bit nervous that our dogs would bark and we would get in trouble, because all dogs occasionally bark. We need not have worried. The park is quiet in a pleasant way, not in an oppressive or excessively supervised way at all. We have to assume that people writing negative reviews about this had large, very loud dogs. In the evenings after dinner, we quietly enjoyed cocktails and soft music under the stars around the campfire without any issues, and saw others throughout the park doing the same. Again, we have to assume that those complaining about being told to quiet down must have been really tearing it up lol! The negative reviews we read prior to arrival made us needlessly apprehensive, and didn't reflect our experience with this wonderful campground at all. We absolutely loved it, and will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

The operations crew sculpt wide open trails with variable rolling slopes that include steep pitch and gentle roll on the same trails. The hill faces east with one run facing north. Looking up at the hill, the beginner / bunny slope is to the far left and a steep 40+ degrees pitch trail is off to the far right. They have a tow rope on the bunny hill and a newly installed (2018) double chair lift up the middle of the hill. The chalet has an outdoor patio, two beautiful fireplaces (one inside / one outside) and is located on the hill. It can be accessed via a short hike 50 yards uphill or better yet, skied into from adjoining trails. You'll find polite skiers that are serious about their skiing and enjoy good camaraderie. This is a local gem!

We took our two dogs with us - they enjoyed chasing frogs (while on leash) - as they were hopping EVERYWHERE in early September. We saw pelicans and took some great side walks through duck grounds (some were closed off and we had to double back). As with all hikes, bring water and first aide on your hike - in case you're out for a long time. We made sure we had enough for us and our four-legged friends. Also, cameras or binoculars to see all the animal life. We missed ALL the federal land (north of the state land). Federal land does not allow dogs, so we didn't get to check those out. We intend to, considering what a gorgeous and inspiring place it is.

We're used to 3-4 star hotels and this place is right on par with them without being a big chain. It's very clean from the lobby to the rooms, the beds were comfortable, the staff extremely friendly. They even offer a small, limited pastry breakfast but the pastries are fresh and they tell you ahead of time that it is a limited and small continental breakfast. If you are doing something in any of the nearby towns and don't want to pay the price of the big hotel chains, then this place is for you! We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

This trip was just ok - that's why the the 3 stars . Pool was closed because choline was too strong - then it opened up and my blue shorts changed color to purple and my son got a rash- other than that the pool is nice size and not too cold 3rd floor near 302 and 303 has like 6 people staying in one room and garbage left in hallway between the strong smell of what smelled like weed and fried chicken - our hallway stank!!! Smell came through the doors to our room - really not a fan of weed smell and I love fried chicken but wow how can it smell that strong - lol Cleaning peoples cart was on the floor but they - haven't cleaned room or even told us they don't clean rooms while guests here - I guess COVId really changed things - you would think that they would want it better cleaned then less cleaned. A little Disappointed this stay, But we will try again next year because the staff we have met ( typically day shift) has been extremely nice. We just wish we were told about house keeping.
