We chose this restaurant, because it has much higher reviews than the other two sushi restaurants nearby. I do not know why it has 4.5 stars. Our hostess/waitress was a bit abrupt, not very friendly. The bathroom really brought it down from a 3 star to a 2 star rating. It was so nasty it made me lose my appetite. The restaurant also was not very clean, for example the blinds in the window we sat next to were filthy with dust. Maybe you think these things are not important, but it makes you wonder about the kitchen cleanliness. The house salad was good. The carrot dressing interesting and good. Why 5 stars? Because this is a unique option on 105. --- --- --- 105 is not exactly known for Asian eateries, outside of the occasional Chinese fast food spot. So if you're seeking a much-needed upgrade over Pei Wei, this is the place to go. I came here during the week, because, well, they are only open during the week. The hours are 11a-4p M-F. That's it. And good for them. Small business owners have such a challenging way of life - I cannot imagine the hours many of them have to put into keeping a restaurant afloat. So if these folks can manage only being open 20 hours a week, I'm happy for them. When you walk in, there's a sushi bar and a handful of tables with a semi-open kitchen area. It's a fairly intimate place. I was torn on ordering sushi or an entree, so I went with both! The Fuji Mountain Roll was quite the production on a plate. This was not simply a sliced roll on a plate - there were so many toppings that you could hardly see the sushi itself. And it was quite delicious. The Beef Teriyaki was also wonderful. It was plated with care and pride - like a combination of restaurant--quality with the love of a home-cooked meal. I don't often find myself driving around 105 looking for lunch on a weekday, but if I do again, I'd happily pop back in here. read more

Cons: If it's HOT outside, you better be in and out or consider an establishment that has better AC. Eating sushi in a hot restaurant just isn't a great combo. Overall, good for a quick lunch, but wouldn't go out of my way to dine here if looking for ambiance and incredible presentation. Recommend WO Sushi in Woodforest for "date night" quality. 1st visit... why didn't anyone tell me to have lunch here??!! My daughter and I very much enjoyed our lunch! We shared 2 sushi rolls (Montgomery & Crunchy Rolls) & the shrimp teriyaki. Everything was delicious and more then plenty to fill us up! The sushi was fresh and the teriyaki was freshly made and included a salad and soup. This place is small and is only open until 4pm but it is definitely worthy a visit. The service is wonderful and the restaurant is very clean. I love finding locally owned restaurants that meet/exceed my expectations! Please note: the prices are slightly higher than the menu pictures. Price difference is just $1-$2 dollars for most items. You know, I really wanted to come here and give this place a fair chance. I go to akashi often because I know the sushi is fresh. But they are also busy, and I was looking forward to giving this other sushi bar a chance because it's closer. I checked the website open today until 8:00. I passed akashi to come here with my mouth drooling for some sushi. I overruled the urge to stop at akashi and kept on to Little Tokyo. I am a fair person and I try to support local Mom and Pop shops. They had about 50 good reviews and I was again more than willing to give it a try. As I get closer to the street where I'm supposed to turn my heart sinks because it is clearly an empl.ty parking lot, I still went ahead and pulled in despite knowing what was going to be the outcome. Sure enough Little Tokyo was closed at 6:30 on Thursday night. I'm devastated because now I have to drive back to akashi, which again I did pass on the way to Little Tokyo. 2.25 stars. Stopped in for lunch the other day and the food was just kind of meh :(. I ordered a sashimi lunch which came with 3 kinds of sashimi, tempura, salad and fried rice. They start you off with a half bowl of a very light broth soup which was called the one noodle soup. It was ok but nothing special. The sashimi pieces were small and were lacking that really fresh raw fish taste. They tasted like maybe they had been frozen but were tender pieces. The tempura vegetables didn't taste real fresh either. The oil tasted old and stale they were fried in. The salad was iceberg and limp, not crispy. The salad did not have a ginger or miso dressing. Instead it had very finely ground carrots covering the top. The fried rice tasted more like a broken rice but had way too much dark soy sauce in it and very tiny pieces of overcooked egg. The rice had a flat bitter taste. Weird for fried rice! Overall not really impressed with my lunch. I'm use to having fresh tasting food at Japanese restaurants and was bummed because of the meh quality food and the high yelp rating. I was not given a dish for my soy sauce or any fortune cookies. Service was friendly. I would not revisit though. I'm use to far higher quality and freshness. read more

This is absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant I have EVER been to. I had never seen it before but it's been there for 7 years! Cynthia first brought out the drinks extremely quickly, and then gave us hot towels for our hands and fresh broth to begin. Then we ordered and the food came out as it was ready so we were always having something to munch on! Everything was SUPER fresh, and the portions were generous! The restaurant itself also has a very authentic, clean atmosphere that makes you extremely comfortable. It was also relaxing, as there was no loud music to throw off the mood. Everything was reasonably priced and the quality was honestly divine. I will not be going to Akashi on the lake ever again after experiencing Little Tokyo, this has been so outstanding!! read more

When they opened years ago, they had an additional sushi chef in addition to the owner as the main sushi chef and then 2 waitresses, one being the owner's wife. Cute little family owned/operated place tucked into the end of a strip center. This is a hidden gem. The service is simply wonderful. Upon being seated, we were immediately served a bowl of Clear soup and hot wash towels. (I hadn't seen that in years and like it very much.) The food was delicious and the serving sizes plentiful. Four of us enjoyed the Shaggy Dragon Roll, Tokyo Giant Roll, Unagi, Salmon, Tuna and Beef teriyaki & Sushi Combos. It was so good I forgot to take pictures! There was so much food that we took some home. Later in the week, I ordered 2 Assorted Sushi Dinners, a Beef Teriyaki & Sushi Combo (for the following day) to go, along with some Spring Rolls. Everything is so fresh and tasty! Even the next day, the meal was scrumptious. (It was the only picture I took and had just pulled it from the 'fridge.) The only change I would make is to dump the plastic for to-go and replace with something more environmentally friendly. I'll give it a 2 because the sushi was ok. Not special but ok. The Hibachi fried rice went to the trash after two bites. Everything in the dish was dry. Pretty sure it was all cooked for the lunch folks and by 7pm I get dry rice, shrimp, beef, and pork. Probably won't be back. Standards folks!!! read more

UPDATE: It's now over 7 years later since I last reviewed Little Tokyo and I still stand by everything I said in my first review 7 years ago. This is still my favorite local Japanese restaurant and everything there is always extremely fresh, especially the sashimi, sushi, salads and edamame. The price still is the best around in my opinion as they seem to not have gone up nearly as much as other restaurants have since the pandemic. I tend to be extremely picky about the Japanese food I eat, and I continue to go there whenever I want quality Japanese food at a reasonable price. I do strongly disagree with some of the negative comments I see from other reviews of this restaurant here on this forum. Yes, it's small. Yes, there's not a whole lot of "ambiance". The server has never EVER been anything but pleasant with me for the 7+ years I've been going there (once or twice a month). But I honestly don't give a flip about any of that. I'm only interested in quality Japanese food at reasonable prices and this place fits my wishes and wallet better than any other Japanese restaurants I've tried in my area over the many years I've lived here as I am local. My bottom line is they have great traditional Japanese food at affordable prices in my opinion. I will continue to be a loyal customer of theirs for as long as I'm living here in the area. I still highly recommend this Japanese restaurant. Anyone who wants more than that should go somewhere else in my opinion. read more

We've been coming here for years. It's a small place, owned and ran by a small family so check the hours before you make the drive, they shut down for a couple hours in the middle of the day and tuesdays they're only open for lunch. Being from Houston we have several options for sushi and rolls. Like many sushi places you have to pay for quality. Not Here! Quality Sushi and Low prices. It's a small place so there is not much seating but everyone is kind. You can definitely tell it's a Mom and Pop place. We ordered 4 rolls(Caterpillar, Tiger Roll,Philadelphia,Crunchy Roll), 2pieces of sashimi, and a full plate of hibachi chicken and rice. We payed $50 for 2 adults and a child and gratuity included. We enjoyed the free one noodle soup and the hot towel that you get as soon as you're seated. Four Stars only because of the small space, other than that we had a great experience. Where else can you get sushi near Montgomery? Chinese buffets totally don't count. Gross. According to Yelp and according to my brain, The Woodlands. Wah wah waaaah. Luckily, it's not just novelty that gives this place its stars. Little Tokyo is a family-run business (the wife has braces and is super cute) that makes delicious sushi for your mouth without having that "delicious sushi effect" on your wallet. You start off with their "clear soup," which is, in fact, clear. It's a fish broth with one noodle (I've never seen more than one noodle in my soup.) Then you order by writing on a menu card the quantity you want. We usually get the rolls--I recommend the Playboy. Not only is it my favorite, you also feel a wonderful mixture of excitement and shame when ordering. I've also seen the Nigiri plate, for those who like variety, which is a great deal: it's like 12 pieces for $9 or something like that. The last time I went I tried the gyoza, also delicious. This is my favorite place for lunch! I go there every week. A lot of the time I call it in ahead of time and carry it out but eating in or take away, I have always had prompt and courteous service. It's a family business and the wife is so sweet. I love the Montgomery roll and my Cajun Husband thinks the Louisiana roll with crawfish is amazing. Same reviewer, but now I've been 5-6 times. Still love the place, but have been enough to find its faults. First, this is the only and therefore the best sushi between Conroe and Montgomery. But I'd still come here anyway - the raw fish is always fresh, the service always excellent, the prices almost too good to be true - three rolls for $11 at lunch?!? The negatives I've discovered: the free bowl of soup at the beginning is really just flavored water. Nice, faint flavor, but it's pretty much just water. The service is great because the wife half of the team is a truly nice person who tries hard. Her husband, the cook, though...not so much. Not exactly a sushi-Nazi, but never smiles and, even though I don't speak their language, pretty much verbally abuses his wife all day. If you get one of the rolls with cooked fish it might be pretty bland, or even a little off, so just don't. Stick to the nigiri, the fresh rolls, and try the other cooked food - the rice with meat, the dumplings, all excellent. Okay, this sounded negative, but that's because I want to be fair to my fellow Yelpers. Read my review below, it still holds true.
