When I originally looked at the business page, I had really high hopes and for that reason I am conflicted in writing this review. First and foremost, the service is good. Our waitress was very friendly: she guided us with the menu, and brought the food out quickly. The food itself was below average. I do not think some of the rolls served here actually qualified as sushi. While I understand that this place aims to create unique rolls, their creations end up being a hybrid between sushi and America food - to the point where I was feeling stuffed after only eating half of my food. The pieces are not bite-sized and often fall apart when picked up. I did not feel like I actually ate sushi. I hope this business succeeds, but my family and I will most likely not come back.

Our favorite Asian restaurant for sure. All of their dishes are excellent and their staff is incredibly personable with a unique vibe.

Hands down to the best sushi place I ever been too. Absolutely beautiful decor inside the restaurant. The food definitely tastes fresh!! Everyone is welcoming and the service was FANTASTIC!!! The huge welcome from the bar was the first thing my girlfriend and I heard when we came in from the rain. The restaurant was packed but there were two spaces at the bar so we decided to sit there. Service was quick but wasn't pressured. The Happy hour menu made the visit worth while. Ordered the Pineapple Margarita with tajin and enjoyed it. Ordered a crunchy roll and spicy tuna roll that came on a boat (with flowers). My girlfriend ordered the salmon cold plate. She salmon was fresh and super soft, but she really didn't care for the sauce. She also got the salmon roll and an avocado roll. Avocado was very ripe, but she had no complaints. She like the salmon roll. We got the spicy garlic edemame (and we both loved the sauce). The vide was great and the patrons that shared the bar with us loved the presentation of their food. They were pretty chill too.

This is a truly special place - the sushi, sashimi, and bento dishes here are all superb. Not only is the food amazing, but the servers are so friendly, happy, and helpful that it's almost odd, but in a great way. The food is fresh, bright, and just perfect - I haven't found sushi this good north of 99. The space is narrow and long, with 2-tops pressed against the wall and 4-tops in every wider space. Instead of feeling cramped it feels intimate, and strongly reminiscent of good restaurants and bars in NYC where space is at a premium. I don't know how we missed knowing about this place for the last few months, but we're plugged in now and will absolutely be regulars.

The food was yummy, we had a lobster roll, cowboy roll, vegetable tempura and spicey edamame. We had great service and yummy food.

This place is always crowded so we had been wanting to give it a try. We got there at about 8 on a Friday night and it was packed. Once seated, the staff was all very friendly and even explained a few items on the menu and gave their recommendations. We ordered 3 rolls, the Godzilla, land and sea and the lady bug. They bring the rolls out on a big wooden sushi boat all together which looked pretty cool. The rolls were super flavorful and pretty delicious, of and the wasabi was probably the best tasting and hottest I've ever had. Definitely would recommend this spot and we will be back.

Irasshaimase! Love the decor. Every dish they go above and way beyond. Drinks were tasty (yes lychee-tini YES!) I saw Blantons on the shelf Service was wonderful and never had to ask for anything because all was promptly provided. Prices were high, but when you go, you'll easily understand why. It was especially nice to see there was a regular customer base. That really tells you what you need to know! Arigato gozaimasu!

    The presentation

Sandra was a fantastic waitress and this was a delicious late lunch/early dinner. I had no idea that all day on Sunday was happy hour so we took advantage. Wo is COMPLETELY worth the drive. It's tiny! The art is not only found in their atmosphere but also their food. Highly recommend!

Good was very good presentation is amazing. Our waitress was fantastic. I will def be coming back. It's a little pricey but still worth it. The only thing I will say is this place is set up for small groups like 2 maybe 3 people. It's not a big family dinning place.

Why 5 stars? Because it's certainly the coolest place to eat in Woodforest. --- --- --- When I first walked in, that was my initial thought. It reminded me of an Americanized and modernized sushi shop I went to in Tokyo. I say Americanized because the place in Tokyo was so small that it took effort to squeeze in the tiny space between the bar seats and the wall. Here, there was a little breathing room, but I got some serious flash back vibes. When you walk in, everyone working greets you, like a Japanese version of, "Welcome to Moe's!" Normally, I think that stuff is kind of corny, but it seemed authentic here. Every employee genuinely seemed happy that every customer was coming in. We started off with drinks, which were both the best we've had in the 7 months we've lived here. I ordered the peach sangria, the wife ordered the mojito. If we didn't have things to do later, including driving home, I think we both would have been happy to order 3-4 of those, each. For an appetizer, I couldn't resist the temptation of the bacon wrapped scallops. I didn't dislike these, but I wouldn't need to order them again. The smoked bacon dominated here - you could not even taste the scallops. I even took the double-wrapped bacon off of my last bite of scallop, but the aroma had rubbed off too strongly. Everything was bacon. Now, bacon is delicious. But I would have liked a hint of a buttery scallop in there. For the sushi rolls, we went with 4 of them. I'll rank them in order of favorite to least favorite: 1) Wo Lobster Roll 4.5 T-2) Ladybug 3.5 T-2) Campaign 3.5 4) Tunamania 2.5 To be honest, I was a tad disappointed purely based on the taste of the rolls themselves. However, they were delivered to our table on a giant wooden ship, which rounds everything up .5 star alone. Plus, the rolls were very large - it felt like 6 rolls worth of sushi instead of just 4. Plus, the aforementioned delicious cocktails and lovely service rounds up another star. I will definitely be back and will try some other rolls and am very happy that this place is in the neighborhood!

We started with the egg rolls and gyoza as appetizers. Both were delicious, but the egg rolls were especially impressive--they were packed with flavor. The gyoza was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. My wife ordered the Volcano Salad and absolutely loved it. It was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. For my entrée, I tried several sushi rolls. The Godzilla Roll was my favorite by far. It had the perfect combination of crunchy and soft textures with incredible flavor--you don't even need soy sauce because it's that good. I also ordered the Baked Salmon Roll, which was something new for me. I loved that it was served hot, and the flavor was absolutely spectacular. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made our date night even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend Akashi!

Sushi has always been solid--nothing life-changing, but consist and gets the job done. Service? A bit of a wild card... sometimes great, sometimes you're left wondering if you accidentally turned invisible. Tried the hibachi for the first time and... meh. Not terrible, not amazing--just kind of there. The shrimp was tasty, the noodles were decent, but the fried rice (my favorite part!) was a real letdown. Somehow managed to taste like straight oil with a side of disappointment. Overall: come for the view, stick to the sushi, and maybe let the fried rice sit this one out.

The ambiance was top tier - which I wasn't expecting. You can tell a lot of locals dine here. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The menu is quite extensive. As for the adults, I had the the Lychee martini (cold and refreshing), spicy soup, two hand rolls (tuna and yellow tail). My husband ordered the Salmon hibachi, and the miso soup (which was fantastic). I will definitely be ordering this next time. He also ordered a specialty roll - don't ask me which one.
