Great service in a fun atmosphere with solid food. Went late with a couple friends , post 10 on a Saturday. Place still had plenty of people and we were seated with another small group. Our chef was fun and funny as expected and put on a great cooking show. I gig the grilled check with the sides. LET ME UPDATE. I received a call from the manager. Great guy...he understood my frustration. Apparently, "order out" is NOT controlled by the local restaurant. It was handled by the 'corporate' website. Disaster IMO. Either way. Makes more sense why my in house experience was so different than my order out. The manager took care of me. Refunded the entire meal. Invited me back in. The customer service is a good touch. I am updating my rating. Have eaten here 4 times since it opened. Dine in is solid. Ordered food last night. The order was wrong and arrived cold and precooked and had been sitting. Salads were brown. Tried calling. Why 4 stars? Because there's a reason this classic is still going strong. --- --- --- I don't know how many years it's been since I last dined at Benihana or any hibachi restaurant, but it's possible that it's been two decades. It's not because I don't like the experience - it's just not the cheapest meal and I had like 3,000 other places to visit. But on Christmas Day, when options were limited, Benihana sounded like the perfect place to go, so that's what we did. I ordered the Land n' Sea, which was scallops + filet. I remembered that the scallops at Benihana were always awesome and my memory did not lie to me. The filet also nicely hit the spot, but the scallops were the star of the show. The fried rice was also great and oh, so buttery. The soup and salad were kinda meh, but everything else from there was exactly what I hoped for. Customer service was top notch. We had multiple visits from managers to check on us toward the end of our visit. Our server was very funny and engaging. Our chef was the typical performer type. They even gave us a take-home gift and gave us a printed photo of our family before we left. The biggest downside is that the garlic in (I think one of the sauces), while delicious, has stayed with me even about 32 hours after my meal. That alone makes me not want to return for a while, but that's probably more about how my body reacts to heavy garlic, more than an indictment on Benihana. read more

Made the best decision in picking a place to go have lunch yesterday. I've been going to Benihanas across Houston for over 40 years now. Truthfully, it had gotten to the point that it was for the food rather than the service. Well, were we in for an extremely pleasant surprise when we stopped in the Conroe location. Our server, Joe (Joseph), was an unbelievable young man. He treated my mom and I exceptionally, just like a top rated server. The food was phenomenal. Top that off with the manager Kelly coming and offering us a momento picture in a frame, just like they used to have back in the day, plus he checked in on us a few times. The Woodlands is by far more experienced and better equipped with seasoned servers and bartenders because our waiter was extremely slow and didn't know the menu very well. He tried... The chef was great. If our chef wasn't good then I probably wouldn't have rated it 3 stars. The server got our order incorrectly too and the chef had to correct everyone's orders at the table. Our table took 3.5 hours to complete. That's crazy! We were all ready to go by the end of it. It had a lot to do with the fact that this lady who was allergic to onions, garlic and everything Benihana is known for and the chef had to keep switching back and forth with his utensils and cook hers separately at the same time as everyone else. Idk why she even decided to go to eat at Benihana and insisted that her food be cooked on the grill! Ugh. So on a Saturday night, my navigator and I took a wrong turn, she spotted Olive Garden, but Benihana was next door, we opted for there. Good choice, Joseph our waiter, the best! Food, wife had the Yakisoba trio and it's a lot of good food, my pick the Hibachi chicken. We dined in the bar area but the show the chef's put on were really good at engaging while cooking the food. Had the crispy rice sushi as an appetizer. The meals come with soup, salad as well so go hungry! The whole staff rocked... watching them from the other servers to the bartender, to the chef's, it's a good crew who TCB! Kelly ( believe that's his name.. Guess what Conroe!! Benihana has set up shop! Came here for lunch with my sister in law and was greeted warmly buy whom I presumed was the manager and quickly seated. The restaurant was set up nicely and there didn't seem to be a huge lunch crowd but I'm assuming they would be ready to serve large groups if needed. The young lady who served us was very versed on the menu and various drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. My sister in law got a Peach Sangria (tasty) and I got an unsweetened black tea (refreshing), the hostess gave us time to look through the menu as it has been some time since we'd eaten at Benihana. They have an extensive menu both sushi, sashimi and hibachi entrees, however there is a simple lunch menu that works for smaller appetites. I went with the lunch duet - steak and chicken- and my sister in law got the spicy chicken. Also got an appetizer of tempura shrimp before our meal I wish I had held off even though the shrimp was good because our lunch came with soup so by the time we ate our meals we were so full. Our cook was fun and entertaining I like to hear my sister in law's laugh so his corny jokes and his actions making our food was awesome. I do recommend people giving this place a try. read more

We arrived early enough for happy hour but just had soda's as far as drinks. They had Happy Hour food as well. My sister and I ordered what was on the happy hour menu and I pointed at it, the Hibachi Chicken. The waiter gave us the evening version of the dish. Which was at least double the price. I didn't realize it until we got the ticket. My fiancé order Ca rolls off the Happy Hour but my son ordered something on the other menu. Our chicken was dry and it's supposed to have mushroom's but they only put 3 slivers on my plate. The fried rice was good. I just expected better with the chicken. Wow... Seated at 6, left at 8:22, and what a disaster movie it was in between. Holiday menu says "full menu available upon request". Server refused to give it to me, while telling me she does not get paid enough to upset the manager by giving me one. I went to host stand myself and they gave me one. Ordered a bottle of sparkling Mio Sake. It came opened, half empty and flat. Waited 20 minutes before server came back to get an actual fresh non-opened one. Chef was good, but waiting an hour and a half for him to come over was way too much. Ever hear of an Asian restaurant out of rice? Yup, no rice for the whole restaurant! Hour two, still no rice. We saw one table get a couple of bowls, but none for us. We finally got our ice cream and tea...and wait for it... our rice got packed to go in a bag for us. So bad guys. Such an inconvenience to a separate party! Then my husband was given a sparkling water instead of sprite, flat beer and his lobster was given to this late couple since the "no lemon" request was stuck to the chefs mind! First time dining at Benihana for dinner and it was exquisite. The lounge/bar area gave a taste of nightlife experience, in an atmospheric Japanese style. Our waitress Meagan was such a doll. She suggested we try the "Lemon Drop" and it was so yummy. The sugar rim was perfect and not messy at all. Meagan provided superb service all night, great waitress! For entrees we had YAKISOBA chicken and added shrimp and lobster. We also had the BENIHANA TRIO add lobster. Talk about mouth dropping! Everything came out perfect to order. The food was full or color, crisp, and hot! My steak was cooked to perfection! This location knows fine dinning experience owe too well. I couldn't get enough of my crunchy hibachi veggies. I kept dipping them into the ginger and mustard sauces. The manager Jose made sure the restaurant was operating smoothly and even suggested we try the "yum yum sauce. I'm giving 3 stars today and will come again another time and update. So far the reviews have not been great but keep in mind that they have only been open for 3 weeks (July 2023) and they will need time to grow and get into their groove. On to the review. The good: Our host was very nice and outgoing. She made sure we had great suggestions on what to order and was generally pleasant. Our chef was funny and you could tell he was trying hard to be entertaining. He told us it was his first weekend working and at the time we went the restaurant was only on the second weekend. The food was good especially the soft shelled crab. I want to go again just for that. The drink I ordered was the blueberry margarita and it was good and strong. I didn't get enough pictures of the food because I was so hungry we dug in asap. The bad: Our order was incomplete and we had to wait a little longer because the chef didn't make enough fried rice for the table. My side order of tofu wasn't put in and we had to wait a little bit for that as well. Also something is kind of off with the acoustics of the restaurant. As best as I can explain, there is an echo which makes the restaurant louder than it needs to be. Even one of the kids at the table covered their ears from the noise. I'm not sure how they can fix that. In conclusion: the food wasn't bad. My husband was not impressed but like I told him, they just opened and they need some time to grow and get it right. BENIHANA CONROE..I love Japanese restaurants and hibachi cooking, and to my surprise, my recent visit to Benihana, Conroe Texas location, was my FIRST visit to any Benihana restaurant. While I've heard of Benihana, and their great reputation, this was my first time as a customer, since this location is closer to my home. I went Sunday, with my daughter, to celebrate my birthday. We went shopping first, and I was concerned, because we went mid-afternoon, which can sometimes, be a less desirable time, to visit any restaurant, for good service and food. WOW! I was happily mistaken! The host greated is immediately upon arrival, and offered seating in both the lounge, along with the hibachi service. It was important to me to experience their hibachi table service, and we were not disappointed! Joseph was our server. He was spot on everything. Drinks were brought quickly and refilled often. He took away unnecessary plates, and even offered to-go containers early, for salad and soup, when he sensed our needs, and we were saving room for the main course. We ordered the Lotus Sushi Roll as an appetizer. My daughter loves crab puffs, and it was a sushi roll, with crab and cream cheese with lotus crisps on top. So incredible! Next, we both decided on the land and sea specialty dinner. Our hibachi chef, was Jack. He was awesome! He engaged us, and the family sitting beside us with the young child. He made us laugh, and we were very impressed with his skills, especially since he mentioned that he was one of their newer chefs. I took many photos and videos and also just decided to sit and enjoy his presentation. I've seen other hibachi chef presentations, and although Jake replicated a few of the "traditional" moves, he added his own unique personality style, that made it be and fresh and entertaining. Entertaining aside, Jack also cooked all of our food to perfection. The steak filet, and scallops were both melt in your mouth tender. We requested noodles instead of rice and he offered a few cooking options, and the udon noodles were a highlight accompaniment. I also noted that he cooked our zucchini perfectly al dente, which is a deal breaker for myself. The manager, Kelly Martinez, visited our table several times, including to take a photo of my adult daughter and myself, that I will forever treasure. As a preschool teacher myself, it warned my heart to see him spend extra time with the family next to us, to make them, and their young preschool aged daughter feel extra special and valued, as well. I'll close with a big comment. This was the BEST Japanese hibachi meal and experience, that I've EVER experienced ANYWHERE! I'm sold on Benihana! Honestly disappointed. I've heard great things about this place and it couldn't be farther from our expericnce. The inside was really nice but the food and service was mediocre at best. We got the pork dumplings and they came out literally cold. Not even slightly warm. We sent them back and got another order that were hot and we're really good. I got hibachi chicken and fried rice and both were incredibly dry. We normally love hibachi and have been to many places so we had high expectations and were greatly disappointed.
