Small restaurant on the end cap of a strip center, I had my doubts but it did not disappoint. Small and peaceful place, the staff were great and friendly. My 12 yo said he loved the lunch menu sushi, or as he said it, " the best I've ever had". I had teriyaki beef with sashimi. Always hands down the best sushi. This is with out a doubt the best sushi in our area. There used to be others but they have changed and to say they are sub-par now is being generous (wild ginger and shogun I'm looking at you). This is not a fancy place. It is functional, but that doesn't matter. I've never had anything I don't like here. I've tried the D3, the yami-yami roll, the Conroe roll, the todo roll, the shaggy dog, California roll, tuna roll, spicy salmon hand roll, Phoenix roll, burning man roll, chef special roll, eel roll, jazz roll, special salmon roll, Tokyo giant roll and the list goes on. The only problem is all of them are amazing so it is always difficult to decide what to get. I mean even their standard salad is amazing with a citrus orange flavored ginger dressing that instantly makes me smile. Warning their hours and days of business are a bit odd but it's because this is a family run business and trust me it's worth it to work around it. They are friendly and really seem to love their customers and the warm washcloths are a special old school touch that makes me love them even more. read more

After reading all the reviews about one noodle soup I was excited to see what it was, I was not let down. It was this perfect little clear fish broth with one noodle and I couldn't have been happier. The place honestly reminds me of what you find in Japan--little, narrow mom and pop place with good food that doesn't break the bank. It's run by a husband and wife with two children, the wife is crazy nice and husband doesn't make eye contact, it's awesome. The one accolade I must point out is they have good sushi rice, nothing ruins a meal worse than bad rice, and these folks deliver. We had 3 rolls, salmon nigiri, edamame, wine & hot sake, all for around $40. Most amazing sushi I've ever had! The best roll to get is the Montgomery roll. It's a must have! Another good roll is the cucumber roll. It's a roll that's wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber. The one noodle soup is always a treat and a great way to start the meal. The bento boxes are always good : comes with a few bits of sushi and fried rice as well as a ginger salad. They have the Japanese soda I love so much called Ramune. The sashimi may not be the freshest however it retains is big flavor! The husband and wife duo are so nice and kind. You feel so welcome right when you come in. Granted the place is small but it packs a huge punch! Once and a while you can see the owners children helping out! Coming from Vegas where there is a sushi restaurant on every street corner we had to make our first night out in our new city to the local sushi joint. After searching yelp for the nearest place we came cross Little Tokyo 10 miles away. The next closest was 20 miles. We are definitely going to have to adjust to this small town atmosphere :) The 5 reviews were good so we figured we try it out. Based on the reviews we read we were surprised how right on the descriptions of the owners and one noodle soup were LOL. It is a family owned little business with the husband being the lone sushi chef and the wife the waitress. Their 2 little daughters help out too. (so cute!) After asking if they has AYCE sushi and getting a crazy look (i took that as a no) we decided on the Spider roll, volcano roll, spicy tuna roll, burning man roll (their most popular), and a cucumber salad. I'll be honest it wasn't the freshest fish or the most flavorful rolls compared to what I've had but overall the small town feel, family run place will have us coming back again. Plus: ask for spicy ponzu sauce Pro: they have over 20+ rolls to choose from, salads, soups, teriyaki plates, sashimi, and noodle bowls to choose from. My wife and I ordered several sushi rolls and seaweed soup. The service was slow and to start off the portion of soup was about the size of a sample cup. I received my sushi rolls that appeared to me well rolled. I took a closer look and noticed that the fish was very dry in appearance and it was dry. The rolls were so so nothing to brag about. As I was leaving I looked into the sushi display case and noticed that the filets of fish were very dry. I burped fish taste all night long. I would not recommend this place to friends or family. I have been here several times in the past and have observed drama between the chef and his wife. I had a difficult time evaluating Little Tokyo because the options were somewhat limited. We opened the festivities with edamame and the happy hour special-3 for $11 sushi rolls. Which rolls? Tuna, spicy tuna and snow crab. Now, back to the edamame. We wanted SPICY edamame but it's not on the menu. To fill our request, we were offered edamame with chili powder sprinkled on top. Not impressed. Maybe it was the chili powder. Maybe it was the combo but it wasn't good. Tasted like edamame with chili powder. The Chirashi was the ticket. It came with 8 different fish pieces, layed loosely on the rice, separated in 5 sections. I loved it. $2.50 domestic bottles so I dove into the Bud Light, (found out they carry lemons, NO limes). The most interesting part of our meal was it's ending. We paid but hadn't noticed that it closed at 3pm. Love this place! Their lunch sushi specials are hard to pass up. My son always enjoys free soup they bring when you sit down. It is very small so seating is limited, but the atmosphere and service are great. Also, their website says they are open on Saturday, but they are closed on both Saturday and Sunday. read more

My three children and I visited here for weekday lunch. We had the sushi roll lunch special (with Louisiana, California and Montgomery rolls), yaki udon noodles and steamed edamame. The the one noodle soup was nice and my children ate it all. The sushi rolls were large and very tasty. We each had a favorite so they were all great! The edamame was standard, a nice size serving, steamed well. The udon noodles were a disappointment though. They were pan fried noodles with shrimp and while the shrimp were lovely, the noodles tasted burnt. I would not order those again but I would visit again for the fantastic sushi and I'll try other dishes as well. The service was friendly and very sweet to my girls. This is a tiny place so don't expect to have a huge party here but if you are looking for a little intimate lunch or dinner, this is a lovely restaurant to try. Great Sushi in a Small Town. Family owned and operated, this sushi bar is one of the best and long overdue for Montgomery. Don't be put off by the fact it's in a small strip center or that the restaurant is somewhat on the small side, the locals pack in like sardines so get there early! The sushi is always fresh and the cooked items and combination dinners are perfect for the novice to the world of sushi. Check out their lunch specials too.
