I thought that was super cool, and my kids loved it. The gym has high walls as well as a small bouldering area. The mats were a bit harder than what I was used to but nothing to worry about. The service was fantastic, and we were shown how to fall and given all the rules before we started. I can appreciate a gym that is safety oriented. By the time we left it was getting very busy. As mentioned both on the website and in another review, it is a little confusing to find the gym but just keep walking to the back of the Evergreen community center and you'll find it. Something I was excited about for this gym was that it has relatively tall walls compared to what I am used to climbing on, and I was really looking forward to practicing some longer routes BUT there were only 2 auto-belays, which was a bit of a disappointment for me. If you know how to belay and have a buddy, there are a bunch of really awesome looking routes but if you are a solo climber that doesn't want to pay a staff belay, you're kind of SOL. The bouldering area is pretty good but I found myself really limited in what was offered to a not-super-great climber like myself. I also didn't understand the bouldering route system - one of the staff explained it to me and I THOUGHT I understood it, but it turns out I really didn't! Overall, it seems like this gym is geared towards more skilled climbers with not as many options for people like me. I had a good enough time, but it didn't feel like there was a lot of me there. I can imagine that this is an awesome place to go for more skilled climbers!

Sky Meadow has been home to our annual knitting retreat for more than 10 years. We (16 knitters)…read moretake over the whole barn area early in April and stay for 3 nights. It is spotless. We cook all our own meals in the very well stocked kitchen. We find every tool we need, plus serving dishes and pots and pans. There is a large open area for yoga, weaving, spinning. We tend to sit on the sofa and chairs in the corner and just knit. The Wood stove, kept stocked by the owner, Miles, keeps us toasty and warm. There are barn animals just behind the bedrooms where you can approach and pat the sheep and alpaca, and hear the rooster crow in the early hours. There are several bathrooms and bunk rooms for 4. Sunsets through the enormous picture window are fabulous, also mountain views and wildlife. Walks on the deserted dirt road are peaceful and the trails surrounding the barn go through the woods and to a meadow. A wonderful place to rejuvenate.

The staff knows their stuff, and is more than willing to help you decide between pedals, powerbars, or whatever you are in need of. They are located right at the trailhead for kingdom trails (mountain biking), next to east Burke market, and along the bank of a lazy bend in the river. Pro tip: for a little mountain bike recharge- Grab a drink and a snack from the market and post up on a picnic bench. The Constant flow of bikers is always amusing.

Our guide was Joe Nugent and he was so helpful and friendly. Make sure to bring clothes you do not mind getting dirty and bring a mask too keep out the dust from the trails. Nice picnic area (which will be bustling again when COVID is a bad memory,) swimming, and nature walks on the trails. Great place to barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs and just be with family. Never forget getting snacks and ice cream at the concession stand (we just called it the Snack Bar back in the 70s....) Grassy area for frisbee, whiffleball, touch football.....just a wonderful place everyone knows.

However, I just need to warn any fellow beginners that the first "green" trail going uphill that's super windy is a doozy! I fell several times until I fell so badly I thought I'd injured my knee (pic attached). Once we decided to go up the road and take cupcake/loop trails things were much much easier (and still absolutely beautiful). All in all I recommend kingdom trails- but be careful!
