When I bought hearing aids this year, I signed to pay $2,000, but when I got to the desk, the woman insisted they were $2,200 and tried to scare me into paying an extra $200, until I showed her the paperwork. And when I had my hearing exam, the audiologist kept tugging my ears in a way that hurt. I asked her to stop several times, but she wouldn't. I figured this is simply something you have to put up with there to get hearing aids. But I wouldn't suggest leaving a child or vulnerable elderly person alone with them. Particularly not a vulnerable elderly person with a credit card. Unfortunately my mom is also a patient, so I'm going to have to take off work to sit with her when she goes in because I do not trust these people. Right now, I'd just like to get my medical records. I've been asking for them for a month now.

The staff at UMD Hearing and Speech Clinic are professional, helpful, and friendly. You meet with an audiologist plus students who are studying audiology and speech pathology. The services there are covered by many medical plans, and they offer several brands of hearing aids. They are also one of the centers that provides information on and scheduling for a cochlear implant. They have very reasonable prices for hearing aids. I highly recommend their services.

Our toddler at the time was very shy, so her approach of play-based speech therapy was the ideal fit for a shy kiddo. He looked forward to sessions and didn't realize it was "work", but instead saw it as a fun activity where he was able to play with a variety of toys with an energetic playmate. I don't see how Mandy has the energy to play with the little ones all day, but she does--and really seems to enjoy it. The play/session environment is comfortable, welcoming, clean, and has a toy store's worth of different toys (and Mandy is always trying out new ones for the repertoire). Mandy immediately identified a structural issue that a previous formal evaluation from another speech therapist missed. Our child progressed wonderfully and is now outgoing, able to express himself clearly and with a range of vocabulary and sentence structures, and is doing advanced language and verbal work at school. We are very satisfied and highly recommend Bethesda Speech for Kids and Mandy.

My son has been in and out of various…read morespeech pathologist's offices since he was 4, and I could never hear or see a measurable difference in his speech until we found Mandy. The difference in a year with her is greater by far than the difference in 5 years with everyone else combined. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with her. She is incredibly effective as a speech pathologist, and the results are really clear. Even more than that, she is flexible, patient, adaptive and works with my son rather than at him. Her humor shines through steadily, and she is very kind, and my son can sense that and relaxes with her. She has specific, targeted exercises and games she goes through with him - he has only begun to figure out that the games are work - and gives us home practice in such a way that he knows what he needs to be doing and how to do it. My son can be a handful - so she works in movement breaks and tunes the games to his interests and approaches it with humor that makes him feel welcome. She gives prizes after so many stickers earned - set at a reasonable, attainable pace - and I noticed that, having figured out my son liked puzzles and stuffed animals, that the prizes being offered have quietly become things he enjoys. He vibrates for the opportunity to win them. Even the games have become quietly tuned to his needs and preferences; I've never seen so many games of Memory played. My son invented his own version of Go Fish with the articulation cards, and she went so far as to write down the rules so they could play it again. Seriously, she is *amazing*. As a note: my son went from throwing tantrums at the very idea of speech to cheerfully practicing at home and happily showing up to his speech therapy. Because she praises him for his effort and his progress and specifically what he is doing right, he can aim for that specific thing again and *believes her* when she tells him he's working and she can tell. I cannot tell you what a difference that has made. Most importantly, my son went, in less than a year, from being unintelligible unless someone had known him for years, to being a confident, talkative, outgoing kid with a lot to say. A few months in with Mandy, I stopped having to 'translate' for him. Months ago, he suddenly started talking non stop, because he could be understood and heard and participate. Before that, he only spoke that much with me, and he chose the most efficient script to short hand what he wanted to communicate, as speaking was tedious and hard work and he might have to repeat himself five times. Now, he is speaking happily and with assurance with his friends and with his teachers, and does not hesitate to step up and speak when called upon to do so. Mandy has made SUCH a difference in his life, and I am forever grateful. She is worth every penny and moment of time. I highly recommend her; you won't find a better speech pathologist.

Just spoke with their rep- Yep . . . they don't tell you before the appointment/when you make the appointment or at the appointment but it's $150 to see the dr and $146 to be examined by the doctor making the bill nearly $300. Check your deductible and even then you may be responsible for 20% of the cost. Which is still more than most online alternatives) Even after insurances paid its part I was still billed over $330 for a $170 brace! This practice has 4 offices each supplying approximately 4 knee braces a day. That's over $4 million in profits achieved by overcharging its patients for knee braces. SOME SERVICE :(

So you make all this great progress and then they completely abandon your kid. Also, the psychiatry intake coordinator is a piece of work. I had a similar experience to the other reviewer, except our appointment was cancelled without notification. They were then extremely rude to us about it when we showed up. Jerking families around when their kids are suffering isn't cool, especially given the waitlists/potentially long travel times involved in lining up pediatric specialists.

I made them reschedule with me right then and there. Soonest available appt was May. So as we're driving to the May appt. I called to confirm the time. Jacob the receptionist put me on hold only to come back and tell me again they had to cancel. Two same day cancellations is unacceptable! I asked to speak to their office manager, Mary Samba, and was told she was in a meeting and would call me back. It's been one week and I've yet to hear anything. The overall professionalism and response that we experienced from the front end staff is appalling and I hate to think what other families are going through, especially when all we're trying to do is do right by our children. Stay away. The doctors in the ped dev department are the same, so go to them at another office, like in MoCo. I've gotten feedback from other moms that they've had no issues out of the other offices.

DRCE provides a comprehensive program to evaluate whether the person is capable of driving, designs a system to get them back on the road and modifies vehicles in their state of the art shop to accommodate special needs. In the past therapists working with the disabled and vehicle modifiers adapting vehicles for the disabled worked in different silos and talked past one another. DRCE integrates the entire process. Not only does DRCE service wounded warriors and other disabled persons wishing to get back on the road, they also provide independent driver evaluations for senior citizens. In my case, my wife and I wanted to provide other family members assurance that a senior family member was still capable of driving locally to familiar locations during the day. DRCE put this senior family member through a series of mental agility, coordination and on the road evaluations then delivered a comprehensive report on this persons ability to drive. The two co-founders, Josh and Tammy, are on site you work with them during the evaluation. Highly recommended for anyone who is disabled and wants to drive again or who wants to evaluate the driving capabilities of a senior family member.

I was impressed that she was signing to me!…read moreLater I learned that her daughter was in the same profession and her daughter learned sign language! They are not skilled yet, the fact that they care about deaf and hard of hearing brings me joy. I know that Dr. Randolph LOVES her patients, that is very rare. Dr. Randolph prices are reasonable and she takes her time to help and she really cares. I needed new hearing aids and could not afford them, Dr. Randolph directed me to a program where I can make monthly payments. If I pay before the year is finished there was no interest. Dr. Randolph did not judge me because I could't hear and could talk. She explained my hearing loss and made me comfortable. She is so nice I enjoy coming into her office. (I actually get upset when I can't see her :-) ) I highly recommend my Deaf friends and family to go see Dr. Randolph or her daughter. Wendy
