Course has more holes that reward a RHBH player than LHBH. I played when almost every hole was on its B setting, which is the longer distance. Pros 2-4 pins per hole. Cement tee boxes. 2 practice baskets, but they are not located in an ideal location. DGA Mach V baskets throughout. Decent signage. Many holes have phone holders so you could film yourself teeing off (never seen this before.). Not too crowded, even during a peak time on a holiday. Modest elevation changes. Most of the course is wooded and require shots that navigate through and around tree clusters. Well maintained and still has that newish feeling. Several tee boxes were implemented on a slope and they built them up proper; slightly elevated, with wooden borders. Many holes have comfy wooden seating areas (tons of bowl holes;) Cons Course map needed a couple times to find the next hole. Poison oak is rampant. $6 parking fee must be paid at the lower Chestnut lot closer to the entrance. Bring bug spray, a few holes the mosquitos/gnats were annoying.

Well maintained. The course was completed in 2012 as an Eagle project by a local Scout. There is a charge for park admission but you can join the MGZS and get free admission to the park and zoo. Luckily on a busy Sunday there were enough people playing that I could ask. Once getting to hole one, I saw there was no map or markers on the course. Again, luckily for the amount of people playing, I could see where the basket was. After hole one, the course was pretty easy to follow. Maps can be found on the remaining tees. It shows the distance of each basket. However there are four possibilities for each hole and not each basket is easily seen from the tee. Def good to walk the course or play with someone your first go around. Not much for OB, only a couple mandy. Not many trash cans on the 9 hole course. Lots of trees and poison oak. Good course to sharpen your skills.

Best to get there early because parking fills up quick. I was there for a BBQ on July 25th, at 10 a.m., and I was able to make parking in the overflow. There's parking on the outside street, but that fills up quick, as well. Anyway, inside the park, there's a long trail that goes all the way around the lake. There's boat rental, either kayak, paddle boat, you can rent a tour boat. I think you can bring your own boat, but it's best to call and make sure. There's BBQ and picnic benches. Volleyball court. A lot of green grass to sit, play sports. There's only one restroom near the boating area, and a few small restrooms if you trek around the lake. There are plenty of hiking trails. There's camping as well. An outdoor Cafe next to the boats. No swimming or wading. You can fish, but I wouldn't eat what you catch. There's warning signs about the water.

So this reservoir was built in 1874 but closed to public, then opened for recreational use in the…read more60s. So the trails around the lake have matured really well. Like most parts of the paved trails are very well shaded from trees that have grown over those years. My dog and I walk for around an hour to hour and a half, so we usually pick west or east from the parking lot and return the same way. I think we've only explored like half of the lake so far. I've seen wild turkeys, deers, rabbits, and ducks around. And if you are wearing overear headphones, you get the natures remix with all the birds and insects chirping.

There are several different pin variations that are called out on the teepads at each hole. The back 9 are a bit trickier to locate so use U-Disc for assistance. Front 9 are fairly simple shots with lots of trees to get you cursing. The back 9 are a bit longer and more open. If you're a skipper, you won't do much here. In between the front and back 9 there is a location where discs are hungup for lost and found. Enjoy the views and watch out for walkers as they can walk right into your drive. This is a (somewhat) hidden gem within Golden Gate Park! It is a full, 18-hole disc golf course…read more Some people call it frisbee golf, however don't show up with a regular frisbee if you don't want to look like a noob. If you are a noob, that's ok. Just be respectful, and know there's a specific etiquette expected while playing. Similar to golf, you tee off with your disc, then keep shooting until you putt into the pin (basket). Grab some discs online or at a local shop before heading out! The course is perfectly nestled inside the park, near Marx Meadow and across from Lindley Meadow. There is a starting point with a hole #1, make sure you don't hop on somewhere in the middle. The course is maintained by the Club, and they do a great job of keeping it up and even adjusting the pins. Each hole has 3-4 potential pin locations, and the current one is marked on the little sign near the tee pad. Some of the pins are hard to see from the tee box, so it's helpful to be familiar with where you're shooting before you lose sight of your disc. It's super easy to lose a disc in the bushes or trees if it goes off path, so make sure you always keep an eye on your disc. Bright colors are always helpful when spotting lost discs. This course holds weekly and annual tournaments. The weekly doubles are on Tuesday, and singles on Sunday morning. People bring adult beverages and partake in the smoking of both cigarettes and cannabis. They recently removed trash receptacles at the holes, so whatever you pack in, plan to pack out. This goes back to being respectful of the course and land, don't litter or destroy anything. The lines can get pretty long if it's a weekend and the weather is nice, so anticipate a wait. If you go early or during non-peak hours, you can make it through the full 18 pretty quickly!

Each hole is well marked with proper tee boxes and orange baskets. Some of them cross each other and a few share fairways. I played midweek day and there were not many other players, but I could see this getting crowded on the weekends. I'll probably make the drive over from Hayward a few times a year for a round.

My buddy brought me here, as it is supposed to be one of the best courses out there. I thought it was solid, but maybe I'm just spoiled with our local SD courses. What a treat to get to visit DeLa, especially for a newbie with 4 months of playing!…read more Visiting this place was a mix of emotion and terror and all the hype about this place I've read is true. Getting to DeLa was a bit of a winding course through Santa Cruz mountains and you pass through the local golf course first. However, once you get into the wooded area, it sinks in how massive this place really is. Driving toward the parking lot we really saw how technical and complicated this course was. An important thing to note is that this course really isn't designed for the novice and that there are certain rules to follow. We were playing with monthly so we came in between tee times and we're required to let this on a tee time play through. This wasn't a big deal and it was really awesome just to experience this place. The parking lot is pretty small and I believe patience is important out here.
