Whoa, totally surprised I haven't reviewed this course yet. A lot has to do with I haven't played here in over 20 years. But in my first 5-7 years on taking up the game (95'-02'ish), we played here often, as this is a great course to learn on for several reasons. 1) It is only 9 holes, so you don't have to commit to a long 5-hour round on a big course. And when one is a beginner, 18 holes can be grueling. 2) The course is wide open, lots of room to err, without much penalty areas. Now there are areas you have to watch out for, but still much more generous than most other courses. 3) Lots of other not-so-good golfers here. So even if you suck, you won't really be holding up snooty better golfers, who will often press your pace. So be prepared for a slower round here, can't be in hurry here. 4) Cheaper green fees. Currently in 2026 it was $20 to walk on a weekday morning. Not sure what it is on weekends. It doesn't get any cheaper to play, especially out here in the Bay Area. Now for better players, this is still not a bad place to practice and hone your short game. I took my regular Monday crew here, as 1 of them had never been, and the other golf mate hadn't been in a long time, just like me. And we had a great time. For a 9 holer, there are 3 short par 4s. The rest are par 3s and they are really not that easy. Some of them are longer like 170+ yards, and almost all the greens are bowled/raised so it looks like a turtles hump. So a little tougher on getting your ball to stick to your target. You'll be doing a lot of chipping and pitching, which is all great practice for your short game. This course is in the middle of horse racetrack, at the Alameda Co. Fairgrounds. Great way to make use of otherwise dead space. Now when the fair is going on during the summer, I'm sure this course will close down. But the rest of the year, it is open. There is also a driving range/practice facility. But haven't used those yet. Locals seem to use it. And since it is inside the racetrack, in order to get inside, you'll have to drive under a one way tunnel. Which used to be scary back in the day, as you had to honk to warn the other direction that you were going through. Now there is a traffic light that directs traffic, which eliminates guessing and having to back up inside a tunnel. A nice course that has stood the test of time and is still serving a very specific purpose...to teach and prep newer golfers by providing a relaxed and beginner friendly environment. Great course! Played here with 4 people. The course is nice, well kept, and short (mostly par 3 and some par 4). The price is pretty good as well. It was $20 per person to play, and $15 extra if you needed to rent clubs. The service was good as well, we got checked in for our tee time and queued up. The only thing is that navigating to the site is a bit tricky! You'll have to turn in to a security gate then go through a small one way tunnel. But overall, a fun experience! I've been coming here about once a week, and it's always a great experience. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the course even more enjoyable. Absolutely terrible experience. The course was decent, but the employee named David made the whole visit miserable. From the moment I interacted with him, he had a terrible attitude. He was rude, dismissive, and acted like helping customers was the last thing he wanted to do. I asked a simple question and got nothing but attitude in return. Instead of being helpful or professional, David came across as arrogant and annoyed the entire time. Golf is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but dealing with him completely killed the vibe. I've played at plenty of courses and have never had customer service this bad. If management cares about its reputation, they should seriously address how David treats paying customers. One employee shouldn't be able to ruin an otherwise enjoyable day of golf, but somehow he managed to do exactly that. Absolute dick. read more

Played a round here for the first time with my son, I'm pleasantly surprised that they managed to put 9 holes (with Par 4s) within a horse racetracks, super cool. I'm glad we played a round here after dropping off my family at the Premium Outlet. I really wish to give 5 stars for the value, unfortunately, I seem to have caught the gentleman at pro shop on a bad day, funny thing is he was all smiles before checking me in. 1. I checked in at 3:15 for my 3:30 tee time. I'm happy to admit that I'm considered late, but he had to give me a lecture that check in should be 20 mins before tee time. I said "sorry" as I just wanted a good time. He had to continue to educate me that's how every golf course in the world operates...etc like I've never played before. Let's just say I've played at Pebble, St Andrews and most local courses, didn't expect to get my lecture here, just take my apology and move on. 2. I asked if there's any later open tee time that I could just play with my son as I said I just don't want my learning kid to slow down the other twosome. Got a smart answer, "why don't you book 4 next time". I wasn't looking for some VIP treatment, how about just say "no" next time. It's much easier Anyway, that were other unnecessarily rude moments at the pro shop that would otherwise appreciate to just let me pay and play. I'm just thankful that the other two gents we paired up with were super cool, my son played well and we played with good pace. It's nice that they have grass area driving ranges, but every time you come up here, all the hitting bays are straight sand. Maybe switch positions mid-day???? Other than that, it's a nice range with chip and putt greens. read more

Big range that stays open late. They have mats and grass to hit off which is nice. Short game area for chipping and putting. It is however annoying when the attendants come bug you while you're hitting on the grass to tell you you're not supposed to hit your driver over 265. Also a good number of balls you pay for are really bald. read more

I went there 3 times and every single time, there is one employee who always bothers me and my friends about pace of play and golf etiquette. He is definitely racist and unfriendly to amateur golfers. I will never be going to this place again because of him. read more

I went to Pleasanton Golf Center today for my first round of nine ever. I saw that there was a deal for a round of nine for $10 a person so I booked it online immediately. Our tee time was 1:45 but we got there about 20 minutes early and the guy at the counter said we could start right away. The facility is great for beginners. Lots of par threes and fours. Other players were very chill and not in a rush. It's a great environment to learn in if you're just starting out. The pro shop has some packaged snacks and bottled drinks for sale, but I didn't see a full restaurant or bar. That's ok, though. For the value, you can't really beat it. Next time we come, we might also hit a bucket of balls. Only $4 for a small bucket and $6 for a large bucket. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars for what it is. This is not a top tier golf course, but it's very affordable, fun to play, and nice little 9 hole in the area. I recently started golfing with my husband and we've played a few of the 9 hole courses around the East Bay but hadn't gone to this course yet. We frequent Mission Hills in Hayward as it's very close and their restaurant is so good (see my other review for them). But we wanted a change so we popped over here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30. They had tee times open for 2 within the next 20 minutes so we putted a little. We were paired up with a single and he was there to have fun and drink a few beers so no problems there. There's a space to the side of the first tee off with a small driving range to warm up. I thought that was nice as not all 9 holes have a driving range (Diablo Hills for example), and it was right there so you could warm up and then be ready for your first tee off. The course is in the middle of a horse track so it's laid out in an oval with a few holes that have a sharp turn to get to the green. It's really open so if you aren't a great golfer and tend to lose your balls in the scenery, you're definitely less likely to lose them here. There's one water feature to tee off over so that's probably the biggest obstacle. The greens are also quite elevated on a lot of the holes. This also adds some challenge to what is a pretty basic course. One hole, I want to say the 7th, the green is basically elevated on dome so if you over shoot, you're rolling right off. I had a lot of fun playing this course, getting to the green was very forgiving to a beginner like me but the elevated greens added a little challenge for my husband who is a much better golfer. Lastly, service was good. The guy running the shop was quick and easy to work with and he was on top of announcing the tee off groups so we always knew who was coming next and who we were playing with. We definitely plan to go back when we want a change of scenery. read more

First time we tried out First Tee golf camp for my teen. To my surprise he LOVES this camp. Thanks to Cameron and Jill for being great instructors here that made things so fun for him. My son is a total beginner and he is eager to come back and learn everyday. Will be signing him up for a few more weeks for lessons again soon. Highly recommend ur kids coming here for some fun golf lessons. Their camp consist of all ages. I was afraid my son was too old but he wasn't. So for those who needed to know that, please keep this in mind. They separate the older and younger kids if its a big group to practice and learn. They do games everyday to keep it fun. I started going to this golf course after my in-laws gave my brother-in-law and I a gift card for the driving range. One can get over a hundred balls for ten bucks, so we've been getting a lot of practice in on the excellent driving range and the well maintained (though sometimes overwatered) putting and chipping greens. This week, my brother-in-law and I decided it was time to play a round, so we booked a 6 pm Friday tee-time and headed to the course. The course is on the other side of the Alameda County fairgrounds from where the driving range is situated, and one must go under a tunnel to get to it! That's right - a tunnel - because this is a tiny zig-zaggy nine-hole course crammed on the inside oval of the horse-racing track! And the tunnel takes you under the track to the parking lot and "club house". This course reminded me more of a large put-put golf course somewhere out in the boonies than a serious "grown-up" course in the Bay Area. But that's probably why I enjoyed playing it! Because as a beginner, it took a lot of the pressure off me. --- Hit the ball out of bounds onto the racetrack? No problem! Just retrieve it and take a drop, but please don't get run over by any practicing fillies! --- Scored double digits on three consecutive holes? No problem! No one is behind you anyway because they've all played through, so you're not holding anyone up! --- A flock of geese between you and the green? No problem! You're unlikely to hit them anyway, given how much you've been slicing and hooking your drives! The only downside of our evening golf adventure was that we ran out of sunlight before we ran out of holes. Still, we played 7 of the 9 holes, and I got progressively better as the evening wore on. Review is for the driving range off Bernal and Valley. I guess this place is under new ownership and all I can do is laugh. The new "owner" walks up to me 10 minutes after I start hitting balls to tell me that if I don't leave he's calling the police. While laughing, I ask what the problem was and he replied with you took the balls from the other slot. Mind you, they were left in between a father and son and I asked them "are these guys yours?" Nice little golf course especially for beginners and getting a little exercise and working on your short game

Been coming here since the late 90s. Took Lessons from Larry Oleary which changed my HDCP tremendously. I am not around a 8 HDCP. Range is nice but wished it had more mounds in 25yrd intervals. Balls aren't beat up like some ranges I have been too and it is a quiet place to generally practice. The putting area is awesome. You actually have to read it versus just hitting it straight. It is my primary practice facility. read more

I bought a four lesson package. My instructor was Larry O' Leary. Everyone in Northern California golf knows Larry. You can't say he isn't experienced, he's given over 30,000 lessons. No matter if you are just a beginner or a low handicapper, Larry gives easy to understand instruction. Larry gave me some simple drills and swing thoughts to help me with my swing. I'll definitely will be back for more lessons. Nothing fancy about the driving range, chipping green or putting green. For the driving range, you have the option of hitting off grass or an artificial mat. Plenty of room around the chipping green to work on various distances. Putting green is smooth and pretty flat. If you want to work on your short game, you can play at their 9 hole course inside the horse race track a mile east of the golf center. A great course for kids or beginners. read more

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, the course is very well kept, even though the course is built in the middle of a horse race track at the Alameda County Fairgrounds it plays very wide open with few traps and hazards, they have a great driving range to go along with the course. Great overall, FOR BEGINNERS. Cons: If you are an advanced player this course is just going to be too small and not going to let you pull out any fairway woods or even lower irons 95% of the time. No Par 5 holes and not really and true par 4's when you really play them. Final Word: highly recommend for beginners as you won't really lose any balls and you get a lot of par 3 work. Funky little 9 hole executive in the middle of the horse race track at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. They have a "warm-up" range, small pro shop, pull carts, and a fun casual atmosphere. Great for dusting off the cobwebs or taking the kids out for a round. They even have lessons there. If you time it right, you can play while they are training the horses. Another time I was there during the Scottish games. For the price, you can't go wrong. On weekends it's $17 for 9 holes and $28 for 18. Less for juniors and on weekdays. I am fairly new to the game of golf, so the driving range at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds has been very helpful in giving me some much needed practice time. They are open until 9pm and you can get a bucket of balls for anywhere from $6-$12. I am not positive on how many bays they have, but they easily accommodate about 20 wannabe golfers under a cover and easily another 20 uncovered. I have played their 9 hole course once and it was a great beginner/intermediate course. It was $17 for a round on the weekend and I think a few bucks cheaper during the week. You won't find many places cheaper than that. A very decent playground for the golf newbie or even the experienced player. read more

My girlfriend and I have been golfing here for the past 3 years once every week. This is a great course for beginners and seasoned golfers too! Everyone in the club house is friendly and very helpful ESPECIALLY John, who works every Tuesday, the early shift. He's always there when we tee off early and Terri and I look forward to checking in with him and seeing his smiley face. The other golfers are very friendly and, since we've been golfing regularly each week on the same day, we've come to know several of the golfers on the course. Yesterday was the starting of the second series of golf lessons I took with Dave Fowler at this golf center. After the first series I took late last year and a number of golf rounds I played during the past few months, I found I need more help (yes, golf is a difficult and getting golf lessons is really recommended.) Dave is a great golf instructor. He takes time to explain and demonstrate to me on how different kinds of swing affect the ball flights, how the body positions and the movements work together to create good golf shots. This helps me analyze and learn to adjust my swing while I'm on the range to practice. Dave's ways of teaching make the lessons informative, practical and fun. The "fun" part is important, especially for newbies like me and the young golfers. I definitely recommend him for your golf lesson needs! read more

A great place to tune up your short game if you are an experienced golfer or to learn the game if a beginner. There are two par 4 holes, the balance par 3, all with sand traps to offer a bit of a challenge. The course is well maintained throughout the year; the biggest downside is the quality of the sand, mostly hard. The pace of play can be a problem on this public course. No complaints necessary. On a weekend day, when the weather is nice expect a long time playing, not a bad during the week. Call the course ahead and they are very helpful in identifying the speed of play during the week days. If your play is only on Sunny weekend days the course will be a disappointment. For the beginners Pleasanton Fairways is great. Kids abound during the summer with the First Tee program of instruction. My understanding about lessons is that the instruction is top notch. I've taken lessons at the driving range located in the same Alameda County Fairgrounds area. Lessons here are also very good. For those that don't know about the course it is located in the center of the horse race track. Enter through a one way tunnel. Don't forget to toot your car horn!! The down hill car has to back up. Can't drive in reverse? Better toot your horn often! This is a very good golf course, its a 9 hole course, expect crowds, look for week days to play at a reasonable pace. read more

Hardly anyone here at 8pm. Great, quiet diving range to whack off a few balls after dinner. I highly recommend to purchase a ball card if you're a regular. 4 stars for the driving range, 2 stars for the golf course Driving Range: This is my favorite driving range in the east bay. I love being able to hit range balls off of a natural grass surface and this is one of the only places around that lets you do it. If you prefer mats they also have you covered with plenty of stalls with artificial surfaces. Most of the area is covered so you can even come here when it's raining and get some practice in. They also have a large number of stalls under lights so you can even practice at night. The buckets are reasonably priced and the pro shop has a decent selection of gear. The putting green is pretty big and is always in above average condition. It normally isn't too crowded so you can get a solid amount of practice in. The chipping area is also pretty large and rarely used. Golf Course: The golf course is built inside of the Pleasanton Fairgrounds Racetrack. It's a 9 hole course with 3 par-fours and 6 par-threes. I've never been an exceptional golfer so I don't mind playing on smaller courses, but this course is pushing it. The course is completely flat so you will never get a challenging lie. The greens are all very small and none of them make for difficult puts. The only reason to play this course is if you are a beginner who is worried about hacking it up. Bring a bag full of cold ones if you decide to play here, you are going to need them. read more

This is for the par 3 golf course. The course: The course is in the infield of the horse track and it is a poorly kept course. Horrible greens with divots and bald spots all over the place. But why the 4 star rating?? The course is cheap - $14 bucks for a round during the weekday (CASH ONLY). Not a lot of people come to play so its a good place to practice on a golf course without feeling guilty you're holding people up. I come here during the weekdays and have yet to be put into a group. I play anywhere from 1-3 balls a hole so I get plenty of practice. Bad course but great place to practice. If I was purely rating the course, I'd rate it with 1 star.
