After losing faith in Craig's List over the years, I had no idea what to do with my appliances and furnishings. I also wanted my items to "give back" to humanity. So, I called Bay Area Recycle. They were extremely helpful, informative and professional. They were unable to take my furnishings, but they referred me to someone who could help (Salvation Army and Bay Area Crisis Nursery). They WERE able to take my refrigerator for $35 cash, in a timely manner-- 2 days later! They removed the appliance from the storage unit, so I did not have to do any heavy lifting. Overall, an excellent experience. Why only 4 stars, and not 5? Well, they only accepted cash; and they only take electronics and appliances. However, I want to reiterate-- these folks are wonderful! The girl asked me if I had a credit card because according to her system, it would take 5 minutes to give me my change which made absolutely no sense at all. So I gave her a credit card. Each time I went to tap, she said it didn't take it even though it said approved on my end. I had to tap it 3 times before she said it went through. She then started walking away. I had to ask in a stern voice for a receipt. She turned around, came back & gave me a receipt. When I got to my car, I checked my bank app to check the charge. I was charged $8.61 three separate times. All charges are still pending so I'm going to wait & see if the other 2 charges fall off. If not, they will definitely hear from me.
