Moving is one of the most stressful things there is; but moving during a pandemic poses an even more unique challenge. (Background: Two weeks before the Covid restrictions, we bought a new home (under construction) located 125 miles away from our Bay Area home. We had seven months to sell and move out. Then the stay-at-home order and closures happened. Home selling was affected in that owner-occupied homes could not be shown in person. Even after that restriction eased somewhat, it made more sense to move out while our home was on the market. We rented an apartment closer to our new home.) Phase 1 of our move involved packing up all cabinets, closets and household items, some of which would go to our apartment and the majority to storage until the new home was completed. Queen Bee (Sharon and a team of four assistants packed over 100 boxes, all of them clearly labeled with their destination and contents noted for reference (more on that later). When the movers arrived, all boxes going to storage were loaded first followed by the boxes we'd be using in the apartment. Th Phase 2 of the move entailed packing the furniture, artwork, and home decor we left for staging while the house was on the market. In addition, all of our garage items needed to be packed. You can imagine what that's like when someone has been in his home for 27 years. Once again, we called in Sharon. In less than a day she and her assistant had everything packed or designated for trash to be picked up by our hauling service. Moving is an enormous task under any condition. I recommend that Sharon and Queen Bee Packing is your first call before you empty that first cabinet! Not only will your things be packed professionally and with great care, but Sharon prepares an inventory of each box. She will email this list to you a few days after they finish. I wish I could use them for unpacking and organizing in a few weeks when we get settled into our new home! Queen Bee will assist with moving or will help you get those closets cleaned out and organized. If you have parents who are retiring, downsizing, and moving out of the family home, call Sharon at Queen Bee! We can't tell you the relief we felt after everything was either packed, tossed, or donated. If I could given them 10 stars, I would!

My overall sense is that Carlos is fairly capable and experienced but either his team or him are not as careful as we had damages to our finished wood toe kicks and our lacquer cabinets looked like they had been dragged over nails as they were being assembled. I didn't appreciate that they made 0 mention of it at all and I had to point it out. As the homeowner, I essentially had to baby sit them for 5 days through the install since it felt like they were incapable / unwilling to read the kitchen cabinet installation instructions in detail and I caught several mistakes early on during the cabinet assembly that made me hesitant to leave it unattended. Carlos's attitude was particularly bad through the entire experience as well. Always made it seem like we were inconveniencing him or being too nit picky even if we caught some mistakes. At one point, he even threatened to quit after the assembly but before the installation simply because he had underestimated the complexity of the project. We did have a 1 day delay due to some plumbing / electrical issues but that's pretty typical as far as kitchen cabinet installations go AFAIK. In the end, they were able to get all the kitchen cabinets installed, albeit with a lot of effort from my end due to the more custom nature of the project. The price was affordable and the work was solid (minus the scratches) but for me the bad attitude wasn't worth it.

However, both of my 70" TVs were broken (screens all messed up) when I tried to turn them on. (I remembered both had been moved in the van while standing on their short end. I looked this up after finding them broken, and I found that standing TVs on the short end is not the way to store them, as it puts pressure on the screen in a way it was not designed to bear. Especially in a bouncing moving van!) And my bookstand with wheels had one broken wheel (probably they forgot to unlock the wheels before trying to move it). Ugh. Later, the main mover guy texted to ask me to give them a good review at a different link than the one I had used to write this Yelp review. I let him know about the TVs (I had not discovered the book case yet). And he made a big deal over how this had never happened to them before and his guys were so upset and how they didn't do anything wrong. And then he said I could file a claim with the company but asked me to say they had not done anything wrong, everything had been packed right. Well, clearly not the case! And not my problem to protect his ego. Double ugh. I made a 1.5 hour round trip drive to drop off the TVs at a free electronic recycle. I'll go to Costco to try and replace these TVs. They were probably only each worth 100 when broken, but I'll have to pay a lot more than that to replace them. A serious drag.
