Similarly to other people, they will occasionally somehow forget to pick up my garbage but they'll never forget to collect their fees.

Always had good service with them. No issues with billing or my service. On-call cleanups have always gone well, and scheduling them has been easy. I've never had to call them back to pick up anything they missed, either. read more

I'm new to Livermore and very disappointed with L.S. Why is it that no other utility requires a deposit for service unless you have bad credit. PG&E, California Water, Comcast, no other company requires a deposit for service. I was told that when I cancel my service that my deposit will be returned, like twenty years later, with no interest. so, let's do some rough math. If you have 25,000 customers times $121 the equals $3,000,000. in deposit that L.S. is banking at around 3% interest for a total of $90,000 profit per year at the customer's expense. Is this just? or should we be compensated the interest annually in a reduction to our service charge. One more concern, there is no record as to having a deposit that is transparent to the customer. What if the company folds or is bought, we may never see those 3 million dollars again. Change needs to happen to this poor practice. read more

I assume these guys (and possibly women) have some incentive to get through their routes as quickly as possible because they seem to value speed over quality. They continuously leave trash that was originally in the trash can, but did not make it to the box of the truck on the ground for the not so adoring public to admire. It seems that someone whose job title is or is similar to Sanitary Engineer would be a bit more sanitary. In addition, they have (at least a few) very aggressive drivers and don't seem to value safety. I've witnessed on several occasions where they will block cars in or drive right in the middle of the path of an on coming traffic. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews on businesses because all companies have break downs in areas of there businesses at certain times. I understand this is inevitable. I don't expect any individual or business to be perfect. First my positive comments about this business. Up until now I've had good service and a good experience with Livermore Sanitation. I don't remember the last time they failed to pickup one my bins on my normal garbage pickup day. This happened during the Thanksgiving week were the garbage pickups on Thursday 11/22 (Thanksgiving Day) & Friday 11/23 were scheduled to be delayed by one day. I had no problem with that. My normal garbage pickup day is on Thursday. I noticed my recycling bin didn't get picked up on Friday 11/23/18. I also noticed that my across the street neighbor's recycling bin had been emptied. This told me that had been on my street, but they had somehow missed my recycling bin. I didn't have a problem with this because in the past they had always been willing to come back within a day or two and empty it. My bin was completely full because over the past week we had been receiving a lot of Pampered Chef products that were shipped in cardboard boxes. I called there main phone number and because it was 5:13PM their answering machine pickup and I politely told them what happened and requested that they swing by my house when they were back in my neighborhood on Tuesday 11/27 when Madeira Street gets its garbage picked up. I live in a house on Vista Street( a cross street of Madeira) two houses in from Madeira. Well when Tuesday 11/27 came and went and I never got a call from customer service apologizing for the oversight. I thought this is really bad customer service. Now it's Thursday 11/29/18 and all three of my bins were emptied as I would expect because it's my normal garbage pickup day. What I'm unhappy about is that with as much Livermore Sanitation charges for garbage and recycling pickup and with there annual rate increases to this day I haven't received a call from their customer service department saying they're sorry. They are also benefiting financially from all the recycling that we give them every week. With this said why do they need rate increases every year? I feel like they don't really care because they currently have the contract with the city of Livermore and what could an individual homeowner do to them. I leave 0 stars if I could. Price hike after price hike. Current rates for a 32 gallon is $115.26! WTF?!!! They consistently fail to empty the bins completely, leaving some trash in there. There was one time the garbage was not picked up at all. I don't get their schedules either. Some days they come super early, while others they come near sunset. Totally random. I have found customer service to be very professional and helpful. The drivers and helpers are also professional in my experience. One day I forgot to put out my cans until I heard the truck, the driver waited until I got my cans out of my garage to the curb. He could have just driven on but he didn't, very thoughtful. Every time I have used the bulk pickup or whatever it is called, the 3 times per year, they have picked up the items on time. If the truck is blocking the street as it often does since our streets are narrow with cars parked on both sides, I just go around the block to get where I need to go. read more

My Initial one star complaint: "We just had over $300 removed out of our bank account to cover sanitation costs thru this company (that required a credit card to set us up) If we were INFORMED that it was coming up we could have budgeted this in, but to just open our wallets and take it...im so angry at them." Resolution: After emailing the company and explaining my situation I received the phone call not more than 2 hours later explaining that I could break up my payments and receive notification of when the invoice was do if I use a bank account draft system. This matter was handled quickly and professionally and I am now putting up a 4 star status from what was originally a one star status for Livermore sanitation I am still not pleased with the rate but the speed at which this was handled deserves the additional 3 stars. read more

I believe they spend more time increasing their rates than they do actually picking up the trash. I received yet another card in the mail regarding the new price increase beginning July. I admit, I had to laugh when I read it. "Thank you for using your blue and green carts. Your efforts help the City of Livermore reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill." Too bad I can't give them 0 star rating. The 5th time since they started service they either forgot, or didn't completely empty my garbage. If I call early enough, they will send out a truck again, but usually I figure it out in the afternoon, and they say they will come Monday. Also, I've called about this 5 times, and only ONCE was my call noted in my customer notes!!! So it looks like I've only called once in the past year complaining! And no one every gives their name when they pick up the call. They keep raising their rates?! Seems like every bill I receive, the rates go up. My trash can gets smaller, yet my rates go up? I recycle like an INSANE person, but my rates go up? Shouldn't I be rewarded for having a full recycle and green waste can almost every week? Sick of them!!!! read more

They will not take cardboard boxes folded and put next to your recycling bin... Oh wait, if I had called them, even the day before, they would've taken them, but without a phone call I have to go take them to the dump myself. This is bullshit $98 a quarter and you expect me to take my empty broken down boxes to the dump myself??? Get your company together do your jobs! A piece of furniture or a large item fine I understand calling about that, but broken down boxes?!? Follow up: we shoved all the boxes into the trash can as you said to when I called to complain. The driver then gave us dirty looks through our front window when they picked it up. I feel like the anomaly, but I have been super happy with LS. Ever since they took over the old service, suddenly our waste management came into focus. And in a good way! They educate patrons through the use of mailings- and quite creatively might I add- and although, yes, there have been regular increases, I feel like we get our money's worth. Especially after learning about the challenges friends have in Pleasanton with their company. LS prioritizes green practices, conserves water, they pick up/reuse/recycle many items and pick up 3 bulky items (FREE!) per year. They return garden friendly compost efforts back to the community (FREE!), always come on the scheduled days and the drivers always wave to my young kids who fly out the door to watch pick up in action. Recently I scheduled my first pick up for a bulky item. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. Pick up was a great experience. I know another neighbor had a positive experience as well. It was actually shocking for me to see so many unhappy posts, which is why, I'm leaving a positive one. I know a few others who are happy with LS in town too, and it's disappointing that they are getting such a bad rap when there are so many things they do well. Anyway that's my two cents! I've requested the management numerous times to put the waste bin back to where it belongs to after each pick up service, the driver still doesn't give a damn and leaves a huge commercial waste bin with wheels in the middle of parking lot. I'm 41. I've never in my life growing up heard my father complaining once about the trash not being picked up. I'm on my second home ownership. My first home was in Dublin. Never once in my four years there did I not receive trash service. I'm on my ninth year in Livermore and this wannabe so called Sanitation company is and I'm sure the ABSOLUTE WORST I will witness in my lifetime(can't wait to move). In my nine years in Livermore I have had eleven fumbles. In all nine incidents my trash was never retrieved. I had to call to ask politely WTF? Two of these incidents the individual on the other end asked me to leave out so called trash can the following Monday. Two of these times they have literally taken the entire trash can unsolved mysteries style and I'm therefore compelled to call this WANNABE business and politely ask WTF? This is the second year in a row they have failed to pick up Christmas trees on the day they said they would (i.e. my regular trash day.) Besides the fact I took my tree down earlier than I would have normally to make this pick-up, it's plain ghetto to have a bunch of trees lying in the gutters. Why don't we just all dump our trees in the middle of First Street downtown? I agree with the other raters here. LS was promised as a great service with lots of extras WM didn't have. We were also PROMISED LOW RATES locked in for 5 years. Guess what, a rate increase every year since we've had them. Why? Because their management cried to city council that they can't make money. Too bad. They bid it out foolishly, let them suffer the consequences of their ineptitude. But nope. Not Livermore City Council. The same city council that rebuilds a perfectly fine and working downtown water fountain instead of installing disabled access ramps on sidewalks, bails these guys out too. Like others, I have the smallest garbage cart. I work hard to sort and recycle as well as compost my interior waste. So what do I get? Told by LS that I'm not paying my fair share for trash pickup and higher rates. Don't you just love progressive/liberal ideology? Force me to sort and do all this to save the planet and then tell me I'm not doing my fair share. EVERY ONE STAR RATING ON THIS PAGE IS A ONE STAR RATING OF OUR CITY COUNCIL. I am filing a complaint against Livermore Sanitation - their rates are ridiculously high!!! In March 2011, my bill was $57.87. In September 2011, I received a more than 18% increase to $68.87. Now, in August 2012, I received a more than 17% increase to $80.88! When are the rate hikes going to stop. This is ridiculous!! What good does it do for the City of Livermore to accept Livermore Sanitation with a low offer of service, only to turn around and constantly approve rate hikes that are uncalled for and out of control. My trash bill has now increased over 37% since March of 2011 and I am not happy about it. Why are these rate hikes constantly approved? What are we paying for? We don't even get the money raised from the recycling credited to our trash bill like I did when I lived in Southern Califonia. We all need to file constant complaints against this company and urge the City of Livermore to find some other company to provide trash service to us!!! read more

Over the past 3 years, they have consistently missed picking up my trash. I called customer service many times to determine whether the cans are positioned improperly and never got a straight answer. This morning, I watched as the driver, Joe, drove right past my house and skipped my cans. I got in my car and chased the truck down. Only then did he tell me that the cans were positioned too close to the curb and to a parked car. Never in the past 3 years has anyone from Livermore Sanitation told me the reason as to why my trash wasn't being picked up. It required an extreme action, i.e., chasing the driver down with my car, in order to get some answers. They should refund me all the days they skipped picking up my trash. read more

Price hike again? They don't empty all of the bins sometimes but Waste Management had the same problem. I blame the price hikes on the contract that Livermore made with them. They wouldn't be allowed these price hikes if it wasn't written into their contract with Livermore. We were against the move from Waste Management from the beginning. More expensive with no advantages related to service except that they do take battery and oil recycling which is important to us and is a plus over Waste Management. It is also far more expensive to take things to the dump now that they manage it. I was told by them that it's because too many of the out of town contractors and landscaping people were using the dump so they started charging everyone more. It would have been pretty easy to just check driver's licenses to verify you're a Livermore resident when you have to stop at the entrance for them to see what you have and how much they are going to charge you. Charge the out of towners more to compensate. Don't penalize local residents when we already pay high fees for garage pickup. read more

I don't think about my garbage collection other than to get my trash cans out on time, and that is the way it should be. On occasions when I have had bulky items or large yard waste all I did was leave it on my curb, place a call, and like magic it was all gone when I got home. I honestly don't know what else would be expected of a garbage service, and I am happy to pay for the service that they provide. read more

Today a driver almost hit my parked car as I was unloading my 1 year old daughter. I approached the driver and let him know that our back lot is small and he came in too fast and almost hit my vehicle and child. His response was to get aggressive right away, and tell me that I didn't have a (expletive) kid and opened his door and physically challenged me. The driver continued to back up with his door open not looking where he was going and yelling cursing threatening to fight and mess me up. The driver stared my wife and daughter down and we considered calling the police. Put in a call to livermore sanitation and all that could be done was to change the timing of his route so we hopefully don't run into each other. We did get a personal visit from the manager and they apologized for their driver which was very nice and appreciated. read more

Livermore Sanitation has raised rates continuously since they started business, at a very high rate and they also make it mandatory to pay for their services, needed or not. I think it's time we Livermore residents got together for a class action law suit and stop this service. Every bin we fill with recycling material they get paid for! And charge us more! They are ridiculously expensive. More expensive than the previous provider. Every quarter it seems like the rates go up. I am ready to cancel and just take the garbage myself to the garbage center. It would certainly be cheaper. Whoever selected this provider (backdoor politics as they weren't even a company before they were selected) should have been fired. Pickups are never done on time, sometimes they forget our street all together, and garbage is usually scattered. And I am paying almost 70 a quarter for this? Just to think the average garbage collector makes about 90K a year. I hope they aren't in business long and that our business can go to another provider who won't keep raising rates.
