Today's visit with Wilbur was 5 stars! I'm giving 4 for overall experience with the branch. I brought my 2 sons in today for an appointment for passports at 11 am on a Tuesday. We arrived 15 min early and there were only 2 customers in line. This is the time to come as it's usually quite a long line. We approached the window with papers in hand and the tall woman with long black hair asked if we had an appointment and told us to sit down until we were called. Right on time, Wilbur called us to the end window, took our paperwork and asked if I had photocopy of each birth certificate and ID along with the originals. I missed that part of the instructions but he said not to worry I could get copies for a dollar. He took our photos and let us check to make sure they were ok because we would have them for 10 years. That was nice of him to let us check. Entire process took about 30 min but was pretty painless. I had paperwork completed but he needed to verify everything and hand write a section for each of us, then payments to USPS and US dept of State for actual passports for each individual passport. He worked quickly and that was the time it took. I appreciated him being pleasant with us and making sure it was all correct. A very easy process and overall good experience. Otherwise, for general mailing from this branch, I've had good luck when asking for extra priority mail boxes when the rack in the lobby has been empty and overall a smooth process getting through the line. However, once in awhile the desk clerks aren't putting on the happiest face when helping. I get it, I used to work for the Fed Government and sometimes it's just not a great day on the job, but I've found smiling makes an tough day better and others smile back at you. I don't have any major complaints as it's usually pretty efficient, just not always as pleasant as it could be. I did have to deal with management at one point when a mail truck left her mail truck running and it popped out of park and drove into my new car in front of my house. It took months, but eventually got my deductible back with help from management, I've forgotten the gentleman's name as it was over a year ago. Just know the federal government is their own entity so they don't have car insurance like you'd typically deal with. read more

Absolutely horrible experience at the Livermore USPS. The older Asian man with glasses was extremely rude, unprofessional, and made inappropriate remarks throughout the interaction. I had a package already prepared with a prepaid label, yet he kept insisting I pay for express shipping after I repeatedly said no. When I refused, he told me he wouldn't send my package. Never had an issue like this at USPS before especially with prepaid and prepackaged items! All he had to do was scan a QR code and take my package but made what should have been a short and pleasant experience long and frustrating. read more

Interesting older almost historic building. Has the old time bronze ornate PO boxes inside which I like. They have 1 self serve kiosk inside. Parking is on the side and in the back. The parking lot wraps around the back. Looks like it gets gated when the post office is closed with a barb wired gate and metal bars on all the windows. The building is older. Had a Fallout Shelter sign in the backside. This post office is located in downtown Livermore toward the south end. Lots of construction going on in the area. It wasn't too busy when I went by. Was able to use the self serve kiosk pretty quickly. read more

The USPS service is hit and miss. Sometimes fine, others times not so. Lines can be long, but you can avoid this problem by using the self service station located near the P.O. boxes. I have also found shorter lines when it's almost closing time after 4 pm. There is street parking and you can park also in their lot just behind the post office. There is also a drive by mailbox in their parking lot where you can drop off letters. read more

The carrier who is filling in for our normal carrier - too lazy to walk the mail in the office - instead just sets it down in our warehouse - COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE - also cant be bothered to pick up outgoing mail. I went here to get some of the stamps that recently came out. The clerk was an older man, not very knowledgeable, rude, and argumentative. He tried to tell me stamps that came out 2 years ago were new. As others have commented, this place is a crap shoot. Actually, I think it is more miss than hit. read more

This post office is always a crapshoot. One time I came here to ship a package to a military base overseas for the first time, the staff working were very patient and kind, they walked me through how to fill out the forms and helped me immensely. I wish I got their names, the 2 stars are for you guys. I came here another time to ship a package for Operation Santa (the USPS version of secret Santa, you have to ship out at a post office) - the worker was short and rude with me, basically told me that they don't that yet and to come back next week. Makes no sense as the deadlines to send out are Dec 6th and 13th, he very much seemed to not want to deal with it. I went to the Pleasanton post office off Black Avenue right after, I spent 10 minutes there total and they shipped out the package without issue. This is my 3rd year doing the program and the Livermore office is the first post office that's given me grief about it. I guess don't come here if you plan to take part of the Operation Santa. But if you catch the right staff, they are super helpful and accommodating. read more

Got in line to drop off a return package. Went against my better judgement and allowed the grumpy female "supervisor" with the dark complexion and braids to "help" me. I should have waited for the Indian man who's been there forever and is ALWAYS kind and helpful. Whenever my kids are with me he likes to give them balloons or candy and I truly appreciate it. The grumpy lady proceeds to tell me I have to take off my old label and tape on the new one myself. I asked if the new label could just be taped over the old one (duh). She agrees and proceeds to tell me I have to tape it on myself. I asked if she had some tape bc I didn't. She said they don't have any other tape besides priority tape. I obviously know that's not true. I said, "so there's no tape here?" "Only priority." "So there's no way to send this out today?" "You can buy the tape strips." Oh well should have just offered that as a solution FROM THE BEGINNING. I don't understand why she pretended that there was just no tape in the building and no other option for me besides leaving without sending my package out. I said "ok great, no problem." As I struggle to get the tape strip packaging open I ask to use some scissors. The EMPLOYEE (you know, the person being PAID to assist customers) offered zero help and seemed to get her jollies off being as useless as possible. As I go to take the scissors she pulls them back and goes "you not gonna snatch these out my hand". Ghetto. What does that even mean? You're handing them to me and I am taking them. Made no sense. She WANTED a problem for some reason. At that point I told her I was done with her and moved over to the Indian man. He helped me RIGHT AWAY. But of course the ghetto "supervisor" had to keep rambling. She's a "gotta have the last word" kind of lady. Instead of diffusing the situation she continued yapping and accusing me of not wanting to pay for tape. I NEVER once stated that I didn't want to pay or that I wasn't going to pay, so I dunno what kind of tape trauma she was projecting onto me. I was fully willing to pay for tape. I just needed to know that was an option. What an embarrassment to usps she is. Unfortunately, during all the unnecessary stress this woman caused because she hates her life and job, the slip was taped to the wrong package. It will probably be sent back to me but that's ok. I'll be sure to go back and be helped by an employee who knows how to do his/her job. It was my mistake. It does make you wonder how she got her sup position. Definitely wasn't because of her stellar work performance. I went against my better judgement today (which was to avoid this woman). I won't be making that mistake again. read more

Today customer service was horrible I arrive to purchase money order for my rent I spoke saying good morning. He never respond. He asked me for my ID. I asked him for what he said for me to purchase in the money order. I have never show proof of ID, which made no sense because I've been buying money orders for years and never had to produce my ID. This is only based on the carrier for our office, but I feel this location would be a reflection of that. Especially, since I have sent quite a few customer service requests online and never heard back. About 6 months ago, I noticed a few new different carriers delivering to our office. It is just frustrating when you know you have mailing coming and you watch the truck just drive on by (sometimes day after day). I have come to learn that picking up commercial outgoing mail is a courtesy but since when did we stop receiving mail on Saturdays. I was told a few times if our office is closed they will not deliver. They don't feel comfortable leaving mail somewhere that is unattended. Mind you, we have a mail slot that they can use that drops inside a locked office. I also had to buy an outgoing mail box for our front desk because I was told they could not see outgoing laying on top of said desk. I get it, the USPS is hurting but our company alone pays thousands on stamps and postage. read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. I went to this location with my mother and sister Sept 8. Around 8:30 am an older white woman started harassing us and Wilbur did nothing about it even though we kept asking him for help. The lady said "wouldn't it be funny if I called the cops to see if you were illegal". We were told there is no management at that location so I submitted a complaint and when I finally got a call back I was told workers have the authority to kick people out. Wilbur along with others should be trained better, that lady should've been kicked out but instead her actions were excused. read more

Amy is terrible. you could replace her with a 10 year old boy and be in better hands. she lies about the process of getting a passport. and i had do go in and tell them there hours online and even in the store are wrong. It's sad to see someone dedicate their life to a job and be so miserable at it. i can go on and on about how bad my experience was. as you can see in the picture it sais the times are from 10-3 for passports but yet when i went in they told me it's only from 9-10. This is the worst ever mail carrier. I will never use it again, and here is why. I have had ,y packages delayed multiple times and have had to wait over an hour each time to get to rep to find my package only for them to tell me what I already know, that being, my "package is on the way to the next facility." which isn't a tracking system because I don't know where it is or where it is going and there is never a scan of packages anywhere between Worth, Illions and Oakland, CA. When I use UPS, Amazon or Fedex, they always keep me updated with a real location and time it arrived from one location to the next and where it is heading. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE! They will price gouge you and give you crap service. read more

The drive through mail box is designed so poorly that to place your mail in the box you have release your seat belt open our door and almost get out of you car just to put a letter in the box. I've watch people completely get out of there car. You better have long arms to use this mail box. Not a good design in my opinion read more

this US post offoce doesn't have a blue drop off mailbox outside. everyone has to walk up the stairs to drop off parcels & mail. so many boxes to choose from: metered mail, stamped mail, printed stamp mail, out of town, parcels, etc. my ballot went in easily. noticed service area was empty. only one person in line. mid afternoon is the most convenient time....no closure here for lunch... many parking spaces available in front too. read more

I was there for a passport appointment for my son and Elizabeth was so accommodating and helpful with making sure I had everything correct. I did have to go back and submit a copy of the birth certificate. She was so patient, positive and thorough. She made what could've been a stressful experience very easeful. Worst post office in the Bay area!! My Mercari package was not scanned for weeks. I confronted the supervisor Mr. Aggressive blame me for not insured! It magicially disappeared without a trace even it had a tracking number?! Avoid this place at all cost!! I later discovered that many people have face similar situation like me. read more

I've never had a problem here. Yes, the post office gets busy sometimes, but the line moves and the staff has always been nice to me. I have always found everyone to he helpful. Also, I love the carving here inside- I assume it is a WPA carving. I always enjoy seeing that as I go in and out. Terrible customer service. I had a piece of mailing that was incorrectly forwarded to a different address by USPS, so I went into this location with the hopes that they would take care of the situation by sending the piece of mail to it's original location (which I had already paid for). They made me wait in two long lines to talk to two different customer service reps, questioned me multiple times and told me I had to pay for shipping again even though they messed up on the original shipping attempt. To top it off, they told me I had to pay for an entire roll of tape because they couldn't spare one small piece of tape to wrap up the package again. I left the place in frustration. I'm not sure at this moment of how to go about this, but obviously myself and other residents are experiencing the crisis of, "Your mail was Delivered", "its not my problem" and "Someone will call you back" We need to take action against this place. The postmaster needs to walk to the back lot of the post office and observe how poorly the new drive thru post office box works. the box has no mail slot extension. the driver either has to drive very close the box or open their car door to get to the mail slot. in addition the slot is so narrow you can only put one letter in the box at a time. the old box had a slot extension and worked quite well. the new box was not designed to have mail deposited from a vehicle. read more

Livermore's postmaster is just the best. Very professional but this place (like ALL post offices) need improvements. For example, in the past 2 months one of the boxed to drop large parcels is broken and they haven't fixed it yet or the kiosk has been broken for 3 weeks. I know about budget cuts and why there are not that many clerks but clerks are faster now so line moves faster. Update: post master made us a lot if false promises. We have a lot of packages for out business and we send hundreds a week and since we have a stupid carrier who wouldn't pick up the packages because she was too lazy and had to get out of her car to pick them up from office. So we talked to postmaster and he said he'll make sure she will pick them up 3 times and never did anything so we just drop them off ourselves. I walked in and it was pretty empty the lady said she can help me but when she asked her supervisor she said not right now which kind of annoyed me. She took down my phone and name and I asked her again if she can please take me she asked again and she too my application. I'm very happy with their service and friendliness . Waited for almost 2 hours for my passport application. So at first I got I got in the wrong line. That's my fault I suppose but it was confusing because there was a big sign that says passports. One would assume they're in the correct line. While I was waiting in line I saw the employees working be rude to two customers. Then one told the other "you still like working here?" And they started laughing. Then I get to the front of the line and this man tells me I'm in the wrong place but couldn't tell me where to go except "over there". He said the person who does passports was on lunch for an hour but couldn't say when the lunch actually started. I asked did they start lunch at 11 and coming back in 15 min because it's 11:45 or they just went right this second and they'll be back in one hour? And he said "yes." He then told me I need to be on a list but couldn't tell me where the list was and he kept just trying to get rid of me. Alrighty. I find where i am supposed to go and another person waiting told me the passport person was on lunch. The sign said lunch 1130-1230. So 1230/1240/1250 all roll around and everyone is getting anxious because the person should be back by now. Okay, well 1pm rolls around and someone comes out saying the passport person will call people by the list when she is ready and let you know if she can fit you in. I tell him I wasn't on the list and want to know if there will be time for me. He says he'll check and that the lady won't be back for another 30 min (1:30pm now). So now I've waited almost 2 hours and there are 4 people in front of me and they close at 3. I told him nevermind and left. I'll go to Modesto. I should have looked at the reviews first. HELLO! I have called likely over 10 times I the last week and no answer. I am missing not only one package that has been marked as "delivered" but 3! You can't offer a self service station to send things out that is open till 9pm but have your envelopes and boxes completely out! The windows close at 5pm, at 5:07pm I asked if they could just fill up the envelopes for self use, I did not need any service from them and they told me no. Very bad customer service plus the fact that I circled the area for 5-10 minutes just to find decent parking. I had to mail important documents overnight and had a few questions. The girl who was at the window seemed very annoyed that I had to ask questions like she hates her job or something. I am a paying customer and should not be treated that way. And if you dont like your job where you interact with people then quit b*tch. To be fair my documents arrived on time but for a few dollars more maybe I would go to UPS or FEDEX in the future. Ughh...I absolutely hate going to this post office. The customer service is extremely slow with no sense of urgency. I realize they don't have the easiest jobs doing the same thing over and over again, but at least try to pick up the pace once in a while. Also, it wouldn't hurt if you open up all the counters when there is a long line vs. doing whatever you are doing in the backroom. I'm just glad they have drop boxes. Slowest of the slow. If it wasn't for the convenience factor and time strain, I would've went to my local PO. I knew what I needed so I was in and out of there. I walked over from the parking garage so parking was a non-issue. I would've rather have used the machines but they don't send media mail. Let's hope my package doesn't get lost.
