I keep coming back to this place. I LOVE the yuca fries. There's really not much out there you can compare it. The ceviche is a must. It was a bonus that it had some guac on the side. I didn't prefer the empanadas. We tried the steak empanadas. But the skirt steak entree was perfectly cooked and had polenta paired with it which was a fun add. Our server jumped in with recommendations when I asked for them and was fun and confident. Drinks are always good here if you're a margarita person. Not busy on Saturday afternoon. The service was good water refilled several times. The restaurant is larger than it looks, upscale ambiance. The menu was small. My husband ordered the taco salad and it was huge and according to him, it was good but different in that it was not traditional. I ordered the Birria. It was a little disappointing for several reasons. It was rich and salty, extremely salty but also small dish and meat was tender...hence the saltiness. The street corn was ok but could have used some tajin or more flavor. The Tres Leche cake was cold and soggy and the wine soaked pear that came with it was not a good pairing. I have enjoyed Livery in Indianapolis downtown and looked forward to visiting this location. This location modern aesthetic with outdoor, bar and indoor seating. We were able to dine on a Saturday night without a reservation. I love livery empanadas and tasted exactly the same as their other locations. I also enjoyed skirt steak, and churros for dessert. We had eaten at Livery in Indianapolis and had a wonderful experience. We were excited to try our local Livery during a regular lunch get together with our dear friend. The vibe of the restaurant was very different from the one in Indy, but it was still nicely decorated and quite chill. We opted for some of our favorites from our previous visit in Indy, including the Cauliflower app and Corn Empanadas. The three of us shared these dishes and they were very good. I ordered Chicken Tinga tacos, which were very tasty. So hmmm... the food was good, the ambiance was nice, so a two star review? Yes, the two star review is attributed squarely on our server. She absolutely did not care... for us, for her job, for life in general? It was bad. It wasn't just bad personality, it was a total disregard for our dining experience, including grabbing plates from the table that were not empty without asking if we were finished. I hate to slam a restaurant on the wait staff alone, but it was extreme. I probably should have complained, though I imagine by now she no longer works there. We would try again. This was our first time at Livery. It was much different than I expected. Wait, time: less than five minutes with reservation. Service: it did take a few minutes for someone to get to us, although we were seated right in the center where every server walked by us. When someone got to us, he was very quiet. Didn't go out of his way to tell us about the menu or anything extra Food: very small menu. The little pinwheel crisps we're cute and different, just a touch of spice. We had the chicken, soft tacos, no one at the table was thrilled about them. They had a weird taste to the chicken. We also had the empanadas, these were delicious.. So glad I was finally able to try Livery! They have another location in Indianapolis and they were on a top places to eat in Indy according to Yelp list. I assumed that the Cincy location would be just as amazing and based on my experience, I can confirm that. A friend and I had a reservation for a mid-week dinner and when we arrived we were promptly taken to our table and greeted by our server. I started with a mezcal cocktail and while I can't remember the name of it, I do remember that I really liked it. It came with a skeward toasted marshmallow on top and was really smooth. It was also strong enough where one was just right. Our table decided to share the yuca fries as an appetizer and I'm so glad we did. They came with a really good queso for dipping and the presentation was beautiful. What a fun spin on incorporating yuca into the menu. I'll also add that it was a good portion size for two people. For my meal I ordered the shrimp tacos, which came in three. These tacos were rather spicy and while I'm not a spice wimp, they were up there on my spice scale. They brought me some sour cream on the side to balance it out a bit for me. I'll end by saying that the menu was really creative and I would definitely return to continue exploring their food options. First time at Livery and we loved it! It's labeled as Latin American and there is a flare and effort to the menu items that elevates the meal. Started with the guacamole (so delicious and great chips) and the cauliflower (at the recommendation of our server - this was outstanding!). Our mains were equally yummy: steak empanadas, mahi tacos, enchilada and the manchego salad with steak added. Can't complain about any of it. I had the enchiladas and they were great - super flavorful and not your average enchilada for sure. Our server was super helpful too. Parking in one of two garages. We made reservations but there was plenty of seating available on a Saturday evening. Indoor or patio seating (we chose indoor due to the heat of this July evening). In a quest to not miss out on Cincinnati Restaurant Week, my husband & I checked out Livery on Sunday. The offering was a three-course meal for $26 per person. It is located in downtown Montgomery & we were lucky to nab a spot right in front of the restaurant, though there is a parking garage available as well. The landscape was beautifully manicured & featured a large stone fire pit as well as an illuminated fountain that shot water sporadically. The interior was stylish but not outlandish. We were seated comfortably at a four top & provided with water. Our server was very attentive and polite. He started us off with complimentary chicharrones, which were pork rind-esque with spicy red pepper flakes. We both happily enjoyed these as a pre-meal snack while perusing the menu. I kicked off the first course with crunchy, flaky steak empanadas stuffed with onion & peppers. The guajillo crema offered on the side provided a heat from the dried chili pepper coupled with a tangy coolness from the crema. This dish set the perfect tone for the rest of the meal. The ceviche my husband ordered was so fresh & light. It was comprised of shrimp, tomato, poblano, & red onion & topped with a lovely splash of acid & cilantro. The creamy guacamole was a welcomed accompaniment & the tortilla chips rounded it out with a nice salty crunch. For round two (more commonly known as the second course in a non-competitive setting) I opted for the paella & added a scallop for an additional $7, though dish already boasts three large shrimp. I will say that even though the shrimp were cooked perfectly, I am so glad I added the scallop. It was so pillowy soft & melted in my mouth like butter. A bite of that with the chorizo fried rice topped with a slice of Serrano pepper & the tangy crunch of a pickled onion was absolute heaven. The chopped up peppers incorporated in the rice joined with the Serrano hot sauce & ancho salsa gave this dish a heat that slowly crept up on me, but was not overwhelming. My husband enjoyed the skirt steak for his second course. At an additional $9 to the special, this dish was worth every penny. The tender steak was atop a delectably crusty manchego-polenta fry & adorned with jalapeño butter. Beneath the savory & crunchy layers was a bed of broccolini & a hot tomato crema. Everything on the plate worked so well together & seemed well thought-out. For our final course, I ordered the flan. They ran out (unfortunately - or so I thought) but our server was very accommodating & offered me a tiramisu tres leches cake, which was paired with what tasted to be an espresso ice cream packed with chocolate morsels. HOLY. SMOKES. Listen, I am a dessert person through & through. I've always had a sweet tooth. I am, admittedly, not a huge coffee person, though I do like it. This may have honestly been the best dessert I have ever had. My goodness. I feel bad for even saying anything because our server said starting 4/22 the tree leches cake will be apricot with a brûlée'd marshmallow top instead of tiramisu, but as a sucker for marshmallow I'm here for that too & will definitely be back to try it. My husband had the churros for dessert. It's hard to follow up the last dessert, I know, but these piping hot crispy churros dipped in a decadent dulce de leche were so indulgent & delicious that I'd be remiss not to mention them. It was nice to have a little hot & cold going between bites with our desserts. During my meal I sipped on a sangria made with honeydew & white wine with a mint garnish ($10). It was pleasantly refreshing & a nice pairing with my meal. Everything I ordered was an absolute 10/10, & I look forward to returning to experience more of this incredible Latin cuisine. read more

Not ready for primetime. Wanted to like this critically heralded, Latin-infused, hip, beautifully designed eatery. Sadly Restaurant Axiom #1 that the back of the house (kitchen, bar) MUST be synced to the front of the house (server) was missed altogether. Our server was a fun, engaging, bright person, but totally un-empowered to make high quality service happen on her watch. Not her issue, but the bar service in particular was glacial in pace. I ordered a round of drinks for friends at another table and they arrived what seemed to me 15" later, after their dinner had been cleared. Our second round of drinks were equally glacial. Even with the caveat that our visit was prime-time rush, 7 pm Sat eve, if I could count the number of times she said, "your drinks are coming out soon." I would have totally understood if she assessed the bar logjam and conveyed to us that they were swamped and would do their best to catch up, but nothing was said to explain the slow bar service. On the food itself, for this price point it was just ok. The appetizer plantains crushed it, lovely crust, creamy inside, nice balance against the sauces. Sadly the appetizer ceviche was tiny, insipid and lacking any of the citrus acidity that announces the dish. As one whose family is in the restaurant business, I know and generally admire the Cunningham group. Thought you would want to know, my friends, this visit was a swing and a miss. read more

Livery is OK. Goodness knows that the Cincinnati area can use more Latino-oriented food, even from a very non-Latino outfit like the Cunningham Restaurant Group. But even if Livery turns out some beautiful-looking plates, the food itself, at least in our one experience, generally didn't quite match its appearance. In short: It was kinda bland, overall. Watermelon aguachile came--basically a nice fruit-based salad--out first. A burst of color and freshness, but be forewarned: this is not the typical Mexican dish with shrimp (or other seafood). And frankly, it wasn't that big on flavor. No real herbs, which it could have used, and it was served with what seemed like a sweet yogurt rather than the goat cheese indicated on the menu. Shrimp ceviche had a bit of the same problem: colorful and fresh-tasting, but needing a flavor bump. The guacamole on the side, though, was solid. Still, these dishes were not bad and were at least somewhat promising, and the presentation suggested some significant effort by whoever devised Livery's menus. The cauliflower dish was a big disappointing dud, though, even if it, too, was attractively plated: A big mass of mushy, overcooked cauliflower--not at all very pleasant--covered by a gastrique that was overwhelmingly sweet. Really terrible, to be truthful. The best dishes of the night were the hot ones that came last: Empanadas had relatively creative flavor combinations (chorizo and peach, for instance) that clicked well enough. And the best dish of the group was the Green Chile Lamb, with tender lamb chunks in a crispy spoonbread and some pickle onion, chiles, cilantro, and tomato crema. That one really did kick the flavor dial up a few notches, and the succulent lamb and crispness of the lamb achieved some good textural contrast. So while this dinner included at least one delicious dish, it also included one really bad one and a couple of only-OK ones. Soledad Fire cocktail--a mezcal-based pineapple-and-lime concoction--wasn't very complex (mostly just super-sweet), and not as smoky as I'd have hoped from the mezcal. Service was efficient and professional, if not especially warm. Not a fan of the decor/atmosphere. There's a recent reviewer expressing surprise that Livery is less chain-like than she would've though, but I thought it was disappointingly chain-ish. The decor is sort of brash but antispetic, with a lot of hard surfaces that amplify noise, and instead of drawing on the world's tremendous wealth of Latin music, the restaurant was playing non-Latin dance-and-electronic dribble that sounded about like what you'd hear in a Banana Republic store. The first time I tried the food at Livery, it was amazing. For a corporate restaurant, it still appeared to present authentic Latin fare made with integrity. On the basis of that I scheduled an outing there for the monthly supper group I coordinate. But the night of the group, when I asked my friends for their feedback on the venue, the sentence I most often heard was "well, the food was good (said tentatively), but I won't come back here again." To be fair, the decor was amazing -- we had a beautiful roomy table in a quiet comfortable space, that was well laid out for all of us in advance. Our waitress was equally amazing. She brought us extra faux chicharrones and chips, visited us frequently to make sure we were all served and satisfied, and at one point asked "is there anything else I can do for you?" And when we said, "Yes, take a picture of us," was patient enough to take all 3 cameras handed to her in turn and accommodate us. And this is the first restaurant in my post-COVID memory in which all the dishes came out at once, the way all restaurants used to do pre-COVID. AND the food was beautifully plated. It was the taste of the food that was lacking. While there were a few tasty offerings, my pork dish was dry & flavorless, and most of the dishes I tried were over-salted and one-note, as opposed to the authentic complexity I discovered when first taste-testing this restaurant. I had similar thoughts about the paella, which a fellow diner gave me to finish as he disliked it that much. It wasn't authentic -- this version was just shrimp and a few scallops over flavored rice. I did think the shrimp were delicious, but the rice was bland and unremarkable. Plus they weren't able to accommodate our two members who needed less spicy meals, though our waitress did try. I am editing this part of my review, as I didn't want to give the wrong impression. Yes, it's obvious that they greatly reduced their menu -- all someone has to do to verify that is to look at some of the past versions of their menu posted on this Yelp site and compare it to their current menu. But it isn't really that the remaining menu items are different -- it's that they're not being made with the same expertise and care. My impression of the food we had was that it was made with culinary short-cuts and with less skill than the food I had previously tasted. I still have high hopes for this restaurant, as they do so many things well, and I can't figure out what happened. Did they take off the less-sampled menu items, to cut costs? Did they decide to cater their taste profile to a lower more Americanized denominator? Did they lose a chef or two? I have since learned that they recently lost their executive chef, so that may be the main cause of the decline. Whatever they did, I hope they figure it out, and go back to the great quality I first noted. Because this is a beautiful venue, and I saw so many dedicated staff members doing their best to make this a great experience, despite the lackluster food. read more

This place is such a great addition to the growing Montgomery area. We made reservations on open table for Mother's Day and were able to enjoy the outdoor patio. Parking is available in an adjoining garage making it super easy! There are tons of vegetarian options, we enjoyed the street corn which was buttery and delicious. The guacamole was fresh, the yuca fries were a little too soft but the queso served with it was delicious. The cauliflower was perfectly tender and the accompanying spreads / sauces were good! The beet salad included both golden and red beets and the dressing was refreshing. The cherries were a little too sweet for my liking by my husband loved it. The cocktails were also good and tons of options to choose from. Maybe it is because the restaurant just opened but the service was unfortunately not up to par. The food came out before the drinks, our waiter seemed pretty aloof the whole time, when we were done with our meal he came over to start taking our order again instead of bringing the bill. Sam, our bartender was beyond fabulous! His pumpkin sangria was the most delightful surprise of the evening. Very sad that the kitchen was 100% inflexible on the empanada platter but they were delicious! The flan was not great (more like a sloppy pudding), but Sam's cocktails more than made up for it. Once the surrounding development is complete, this will be one of the most happening locations in the city's outskirts. The patio dining reminds me of restaurants I typically see in cities like Houston, Miami, and LA. As with several other new restaurants, I expect Livery will grow into its potential. The location and service are top tier. My friend and I ordered and split amongst us two cocktails, empanadas, guacamole, and yuca fries. The yuca fries were the star of the show! They were freshly prepared with a slightly crispy texture on the outside with a soft potato-like texture on the inside and were served piping hot. LOVE! The steak empanadas were my least favorite. The texture of the pastry was dense and by far crisper than traditional texture. The sauce they were served with was bland, but our server brought out a spicy sauce that saved the day. Lastly, the guacamole was just fine but would have benefited by adding more lime juice and a little bit of sea salt. A few tweaks in the food preparation, and Livery will soon be a "go-to" spot. read more

We love livery in all locations! I was glad to find out that they had one in Ohio. I had to try it out. I was glad to know the chef from the Indianapolis came out and trained the kitchen staff. The servers were still super knowledgble of the drink menu. I tried to order an off menu cocktail but they didn't know how to make it but if I had them the ingredients they would have made it for me.
