Che is one of our top five favs in Cincinnati. We love their empanadas and grabbing a drink. We did a pisco sour and a blueberry cocktail (which was more on the sweeter side than I prefer but flavor was good!). Yuca fries for a starter. They were good for snacking, but not quite on the same level as the empanadas. We did a sort of empanadas sampler with spinach and cheese, Cuban, Korean BBQ, carne, buffalo chicken, and short rib. The only ones I don't personally prefer are the Cuban (not much of a ham person) and the carne (the hard boiled egg and olive in it weren't my fav additions). We tried their no-bake cake for dessert. First time here although has been on my list for a bit. I was seated as soon as I walked in. I sat next to the bar at a high-top table. I ordered a cocktail, the Campos De'Arandanos. The cocktail was refreshing with a slight bitter note in a good way. I ordered a Cuban empanada and a Korean BBQ empanada. They were a bit smaller than I thought they would be but they were crispy and full of the fillings. I liked both of them but if I had to choose a favorite I would choose the Cuban. The Cuban contained pork shoulder, ham, pickles, mustard, and provolone cheese. The Korean BBQ contained braised pork, peppers, and onions. Both were very good. Great experience! My husband and I have wanted to try this place out. We have been to the OTR location a few times but this place is closer to home. We put a reservation in for a weeknight evening and easily showed up and got seated at our time. Probably didn't need the reservation but who knows? We both shared the meal for two. For drinks, my lady had a glass of the Humberto Canale malbec and I had a Quilmes. Even though they were getting busy, we didn't wait long at all before everything came out. The wings were super tasty and had just the right amount of spicy kick. The sprouts were some of the best I've had in a while. And the empanadas were as epic as always. We got there a little after 8 on a weeknight, so the only other customers there were on their way out. We got seated right away, then they brought us waters without us having to ask, which was nice. Ché started as a food truck, then they opened in Over-the-Rhine in 2016, and a couple of years ago expanded close to my home in O'Bryonville. My wife and I have visited multiple times recently. Each time at least one of us had the mushroom and feta, the chicken salsa verde, and the jerk chicken. These are good ones to start with. I've also heard great things about the short rib. We also used a gift card that should have covered most of our meal but he only ran half the gift card? It was very weird and I would not recommend the service. The food was mediocre in my opinion, although my husband liked it a little more than I did. The empanadas were lacking seasoning and needed more flavor, while dough is not what I would call traditional for an empanada. The chimichurri dipping sauce tasted more Italian than anything and didn't pair well with the flavors of the empanadas, and the pico de gallo was extremely watery. We had 6 empanadas: Buffalo chicken, Jamon y queso (my husbands favorite), Cuban, chicken salsa verde (the best flavor IMO), jerk and de carnes. The bombas were decent but the filling is all puréed and therefore has a weird texture and is again lacking flavor. The best thing we had was probably the red salsa that came as a dipping sauce with the bombas. We had the lamb bbq and kale bombas. No one ever came back to check on us until two separate servers both asked for the check split and I had to ask both to remove the meat empanada from the bill.
