I happened upon Alicia Diaz because I was looking for a second quote on auto and home insurance. We…read morehad been with a broker for the past 15 years, and somehow my insurance was dropped because the auto pay did not go through. So we found ourselves without insurance. Our broker was asking us to apply for a new policy, and to fill out a ton of paperwork, and drive it across town. It seemed like a lot of effort on my part, and I really didn't know if I was getting a fair price or good coverage. So I called Alicia to see what she could tell me, only as a comparison. Alicia asked if I had 15 minutes to answer a few questions, and she input all of my information on the spot. She had specific recommendations about my coverage, and she clearly knew what she was doing. She even asked me random questions about our home and property, because when we bundled several things together, we got a lower rate- insuring more for less money. At the end of it, with Farmers Insurance and the policy that Alicia had put together, we would be saving a good amount of money. The day after I called her, I was signing papers in her office for our coverage- and it was anything but difficult on my end. She offered me a cappuccino, and had a place for my kids to preoccupy themselves (art, stuffed animals, a doll house!) while I was there. I didn't wait at all, and Alicia and her team made it a seamless and fun experience. I could tell her employees enjoyed working for her, which confirmed what I had thought about her character. She took my mess of a situation and took care of everything we needed. She made my life so much easier, simply because she is thorough, and excellent at what she does. And she is super friendly and fun to be around, which is huge. She also told me that I could text her and reach her anytime, that was the benefit of having a personal agent. Well, we put that to the test last weekend when our car was broken into after a Giants game. I texted her at 10pm, and she got back to me right away, even helped walk me through setting up an appointment online with a repair service. She told me if I couldn't get an appt soon, to let her know because there was a local place she'd worked with that may be able to get me in. She checked in with me about it, and when I told her I couldnt get an appointment, she called the local glass repair shop, gave them all my information, and all I had to do was call them to confirm the date and time I preferred. I told my husband she is a boss- she multitasks, and gets the job done thoroughly and efficiently. And I tell Alicia that she is in the business of making my life easier! I would absolutely recommend Alicia to anyone who wants a smart, thorough, caring, genuine person as their insurance agent, to make that aspect of your life much easier and pleasant. So we have had many different agents over the years. Always with Allstate. Then we went with Dave Thomas. This is the first agency that we have NEVER spoken with guy who's name was on the door. Never on the phone or in person. This office is terrible. They don't return your calls. They can't answer any of your questions. And they don't care about their clients at all. In 25 years we had one minor fender bender and one speeding ticket. Both of which occurred years ago. Suddenly our premiums started to go up. Most GOOD insurance agencies would explain why and do things to try and find a way to reduce them. Not these guys. This was there exact response "There's nothing we can do. This is CA." Tait was quite helpful over the years as I navigated switching between Mercury and Allied, based on my insurance needs and the rates being offered. He is the reason that McCarty Insurance does not get one star. However, there were a couple of instances where I had to deal with his brother, Chad. Chad typically was much less responsive, not as nice over the phone, and seemed to have an attitude that he was doing me a favor. McCarty Insurance loves talking about how they are a "family" business. While being part of a family business for over 6 years, it is not an important factor to me. McCarty Insurance should spend their time focusing on their customer needs. In some cases, this may require working after 12:00 pm on Fridays, or even quickly answering an email over the weekend. Due to significant rate increases, and Chad McCarty's lack of concern or effort to lower my cost, I am not renewing my policy and switching insurance carriers. I was able to find a broker to work with me to offer a lower rate. At least this is one of the last ties I now have to Fresno.....
