The procedure itself was fast once my jaw was numbed. Minimal discomfort. Dr. Chiodo was skillful and communicates in a friendly manner. Office staff and surgical staff were fine. I will need to go back for an implant once my jaw heals. Office is easy to locate, directly across from Somerset Medical Center. Ample parking in rear.

Thankfully all went flawlessly every time and neither of us had complications, and we followed all his printed instructions. In July 2021 I had an infected tooth that needed to be extracted. My primary dentist, Dr. DeGrazia in Somerville, recommended Dr. Chiodo again, so I was comfortable, knowing what to expect. He was booked solid but my appt was expedited when someone cancelled and I got it all done, quickly, painlessly and w/o any complications. He is very attentive, has a great personality and his staff are competent, empathetic and helpful every time. Would highly recommend. Put yourself at ease as Dr. Chiodo is top notch. By the way, I'm a physician and have very high standards, so please consider this as very relevant and coming from a health care physician/scientist who is highly selective.

Dr. Kaplan, the owner, seems highly focused on collecting payment immediately. In my experience, I received calls and text messages demanding payment before I had even heard back from my insurance company. At one point, follow-up care for a poorly fitting crown that their office had installed appeared to be contingent on immediate payment. The practice also has frequent staff and dentist turnover, and some staff members have been unprofessional. I have stayed with this practice for more than 30 years, largely because I liked one particular dentist and had developed a long-standing relationship with the office. During that time, I never failed to pay a bill, yet I was still being pursued for payment over the July 4th holiday weekend. When I finally received the bill and tried to pay it by phone, I discovered that the office had provided a different balance than the one originally communicated. I ended up spending about 40 minutes on the phone with the business owner trying to reconcile the numbers, only to arrive at the same figure we had started with. I wanted to be a dental patient, not a billing expert. While some of the clinical care has been good, the billing practices and collection approach have left me deeply disappointed.

I was very impressed by the amount of compassion and time he took in order to explain everything so that I made a better decision. The front office was very pleasant and upon me telling them that I had some discomfort they immediately scheduled me without giving me difficulties. They processed my paperwork online and made it a breeze. For the extraction they referred me to Warren oral surgery and I had a unpleasant experience with the front staff at Warren Oral surgery The staff at Oral surgery made it difficult for me to make an appointment and after the appointment I requested the doctor called me with some information and I never got a callback.

The nitrous oxide (laughing gas) made it a lot of fun I mean where else can you get a medically monitored high with no guilt (I'm just joking of course it was used on me for anxiety obviously)? The nitrous oxide AKA NO2 is $75option and they will try and put it through on your insurance. How could they charge so much you ask, because it feels awesome and everyone knows it (better than weed by far in my opinion), plus it makes a miserable procedure go from virtually unbearable to virtually unnoticeable. As far as the professionalism of the office they get top marks. With regards to the doctor that I saw whose name is escaping me right now, he's all business and really knows root canal. They're not just dentists their endodontist which is kind of like a dentist "on steroids" (I hate that expression, I couldn't think of anything better at the moment). Believe it or not the dentist that sent me there "didn't feel comfortable doing root canal it on the molars", I found that kind of strange because I went to a professional, a dentist(!). Apparently this is pretty normal and this is why Endodontists exist. In fact given the skill level I would say go to an endodontist for any root canal, period. The last time I had root canal it was by a regular dentist and you could tell with certain parts of it he was having some issues. So far the tooth is fine, roughly a year later, but you can definitely tell that the extra three years of schooling (fellowship) that the specialists/Endodontists go through teall
