We hired this company last spring to remove several bushes and trees, plant new arborvitae and…read moreevergreen trees, and refresh the mulch in our yard. I want to start by saying the crew clearly worked hard--this was a big job that took about five days, and we appreciated the effort they put in. Unfortunately, the quality of the work did not match the time and effort. Three of the large evergreen trees were planted noticeably crooked, and the arborvitae were not planted deep enough. As a result, eight of them died within a relatively short time. When I contacted the company to address the issue, they initially agreed to replace the dead arborvitae. However, after that, communication stopped. They never followed through, did not show up as promised, and ultimately stopped responding to texts altogether. It's disappointing because we invested a significant amount in this project and expected both proper installation and basic follow-up service. While the crew was hardworking, the end result and lack of accountability make it difficult to recommend this company.

They are not cheap but they know their stuff - got my front and backyard redesigned when I moved in trying to change the 1970s and 80s landscaping to include a patio & pretty much redid our entire yard. The only thing I chgd from their plan was to decrease the size of some of the shrubs to save money. most of the perennials they put in are still doing well I've had one tree replaced but most everything else here. They inc some really stunning dianthus that still blooms strong today.

They also planted a few trees. When the trees died, they replaced them quickly. The replacements have been great! We are looking at having them plant some more trees this fall. This being the case, it did not make any sense for me to pay for landscape maintenance and was the responsibility of the occupants. They kept up with the lawn, but eventually the weeds took over the beddings / brick pavers and the trees / shrubs were not maintained. We recently made a decision that it was time to put the house market but before that can happen, there were several projects that were suggested by our real estate agent that would help increase our house value. One of those projects being the landscape. A month ago I contacted several landscaping companies requesting a quote via Yelp. John from American Artists Landscaping (AAL) was the first person to reply (on a Sunday). A service estimator was sent out to our property and an official estimate was emailed the following day. AAL wasn't even my first choice because when I did a "landscaping" search, they show up as #23, I'm glad that AAL was one of the companies I checked off to request a quote. One company actually gave me an estimate based on the Yelp quote request with no property assessment. Needless to say, we found the estimate to be very reasonable and accepted John's proposal. I had a little misunderstanding about when the project would be completed, but that was completely my fault. While I did not see the landscape in person, it's very apparent how much the curve appeal improved. The weeping tree looks interesting after the dead limps were removed, but it is an improvement from before. If you've ever done landscaping, it's a tough job and it would have taken me at least a week to complete on my own. The crew did it in one day. While we only utilizes his service for landscape maintenance, AAL is a full service landscaping company. And while I'm sure he has much larger accounts than the project on my property, he still gave the same amount of attention and gratitude for my business. There is a currently a $300 for $500 Yelp offer as well that I was able to utilize. John is profession, quick to respond, and has been in business for over 20 years. I'm hoping my house sells fast, however if additional maintenance is required, I won't hesitate to contact John for our future landscaping needs.

Two low spots where water pools. Drainage system is working however big holes around drains that will need to be filled next year. Although they said they knew how to install dog grass, they didn't! One of the guys installing was on his cell phone while cutting the grass . We have to have the manufacturer come and hopefully correct it or else we wasted $3500. They were to come back and correct the concrete and they never did. We were left with concrete on our windows and mud on our driveway and street which took my husband two hours to clean with a power washer. They worked sporadically during the entire project. Very disappointed in the experience. Will never use again.

I paid them, an then went outside to see that they had simply cut the shrubs to the ground - something I could have done. I stopped payment on the check, called them and told them that if they wanted to get paid. They came out with a large piece of equipment that they had not used before and did the job properly. May I add that their staff proceeded to flirt with me? Truly unprofessional. I should have charged them for the stop check fee. I got extensive work from Davy Tree later for a much lower price.
