Only once can I think of a positive experience which was one I dropped the instrument off for repair about a week and half ago. This was the only time I was not talked down to or made to feel uncomfortable. I've played clarinet for over 20 years...I'm not dumb regarding what I need, etc Today will be my last visit to this store. In early August, we overhauled his clarinet with new pads. My son had some bent keys and things that needed to be addressed recently, but I was surprised to see one of those things was 4 new pads in less than 10 months. I mentioned it to the individual assisting me and he was like no that's normal, etc. He became very condescending towards me. From my experience, that is not normal, so I am within my right to question it. The older gentleman on the back just kind of nodded his head and didn't make any comments. As I was reviewing the receipt with the repairs and examining the instrument, he walked over to the door and stood in a semi confrontational stance and stared at me as if to hurry me up and rush me out of the store. Go to another shop that will appreciate you, your business, and not talk down to you.

Dr. Cheung is incredibly patient, enthusiastic and clearly passionate about teaching. He takes the time to meet my son where he is which has made a big difference in both his confidence and consistency. My son has made leaps and bounds since starting lessons with him and it's been really rewarding to watch that progress. My son has had a few injuries from BJJ and wrestling and Dr. Cheung worked with him to adapt lessons so he could continue practicing using one hand. That level of support and problem solving meant a lot. One thing I especially appreciate about MACSA is how many opportunities they offer beyond weekly lessons. There are regular performance opportunities and competitions, which give students a chance to grow, build confidence and apply what they're learning in a meaningful way. The pianos the students get to practice on are also beautiful which adds to the overall experience and makes it feel even more special. It feels like a place that truly supports both skill development and a genuine love for music. I'm really glad we found it.

Totally agree w\JohnG. and a few others...(So sorry Bro)…read more I started pleasantly surprised to learn about a LOCAL music / service store. As an experiment, I took my guitar to the Helotes Store for a basic setup, truss rod, nut, bridge, fret dress and potentially fret scallop. If all went well, I would follow up with 3 other guitars and a 5 String bass. The intake person did not want details of what I wanted, to pass onto the tech. Told me the tech would call and get those details. The tech (New Braunfels) called me a week later, he chatted about various things except what I needed done. When I tried to explain in full detail, he interrupted me and went off topic again. I asked him to call me between 4:30 6:00 pm. Never did. A week after, I got a voicemail "your guitar is ready for pick up". I was already upset because NO WAY he would've known what to do. $110 DOWN THE TOILET. Now, I'll just undo the novice work and do my own work. I've been playing for over 35+ years... Yes, I'm old. I've designed and built guitars. So I just might know about setups. I miss my previous guitar tech ! He would first talk to you about your playing style, genre(s) of music you like. then ask you to pick up a guitar from his store that feels the best to you. Then begin discussing details. He was GOLDEN !!! "Stay Gold Pony Boy" Like a good and honest mechanic... If you're lucky enough find a good tech, demonstrate true appreciation and never loose touch ! Hillje Music has much to learn ! They have lost yet another customer, with advice to fellow musicians where NOT to go !!

My husband tried to return on the 13th but the location was closed (with no notification). I left message for Judy on Sat and she never called me back. I called back today and they want us to drive to Boerne or Bandera this afternoon to return it (if I want to be credited back for May). I asked if I could return tomorrow because I don't have time to make a 1-hour trip before I have to pick up my daughter and they said no. I regret not renting from Terra Nova--they are way more professional.

If you are looking for a new guitar to buy online, the first place you should checkout is Alamo…read moreMusic Center out of San Antonio, TX. Let me tell you why. There are so many things to consider when buying online. You need to know that the people you are dealing with are honest and honorable. You will not find better people than Chris McKee and Cooper Greenberg. They are the best. You also want to make sure the people that you talk to are guitar experts. Just check out Chris' and Coopers' You Tube channel, Alamo Music Center, and watch their informative and entertaining guitar review videos. You will come away impressed by their expertise and knowledge. They want to make sure you select a guitar that meets your criteria and your needs rather than just trying to sell you a guitar. You want a store that treats the customer with respect and bends over backwards to make sure a customer is satisfied. I can vouch from personal experience that they know how to treat a customer right. I have purchased guitars from some of the biggest guitar places in the US and none of them come even close to meeting all of the criteria I have listed above, except for Alamo Music Center. I have purchased my last two guitars from them and will always go to Alamo Music Center first. Check them out and maybe like me Alamo Music Center will become your favorite and go to guitar store. Pro Tip: When they have a sale pay attention and peruse the inventory for your next guitar. Their deals are fantastic! Thank you, Alamo Music Center!

We walked in expecting to see some guitars and amps, we knew they had pianos and stuff. We thought we would wonder through and say, "Been there." And have a little check mark, you know? Well walked in the front door and saw Cooper at a desk on a computer... I was gob smacked! For some reason I never really expected to see Cooper or Chris but there he was. Introduced myself and to keep from looking the complete fanboy idiot I asked bout a Yamaha Tas3. They had one, so I asked Cooper to demo the loop function (sly of me, I know) and he laid down a simple thing I had seen him play on YouTube before. Wonderful! We had a brief discussion about it and he gave me a little discount, put new 10's on it, checked it over and shipped it home to Florida for free. Great service, great local music store feel, great experience.
