Additionally, when I questioned how my unit could be very low on freon when he just personally serviced it earlier in the year his tone shifted from direct to just plain angry. It was a valid question that did not require a bitter response. Value: I paid $320 for 2lbs of freon and a service call. After that, I called several other local HVAC firms and the average cost was about $240 for the same service and type of freon. Professionalism/Skill: My problem was haphazardly diagnosed without even searching for an actual leak. I was told it would be a minimum of $1,500 to start digging into the issue. I opted to not do that because it seemed like an expensive commitment to make to a person who had not at all looked for the leak. Guessing at the problem shows a lack of skill, no matter your profession. In the end, I overpaid for poor service solely because this was the firm that installed the unit in my home years ago, before I purchased it. Take my advice and avoid these guys. Pioneer, City Heat and Air, and Rocky Top are all far better options.

Our AC unit has had a problem needing to be charged every year since we bought it as it is on its…read morelast leg but unfortunately we do not have the money to replace it. This year proved no different and we decided to give Tayfer a call as they do work on our church's units and we had heard positive reviews. They did confirm our unit was on its way out but would try to get it going for one more year. They had to charge it completely and were the first company to let us know that we could replace the AC unit without replacing the furnace as it still has live left in it. We have been cool every since and the AC unit is still working properly and they were extremely affordable for all the work they did charging it after trying to locate the source of the leak. When we go to replace it, we will be giving them a call.

Matt still replaced the capacitor so we would AC until the new unit arrived. Later on I decided to wait on new unit and just have it original unit fixed. I talked to office and although the new unit had already arrived they let me cancel the order and Matt came back in two days after receiving new board and completed the repair.
