Shady tactics to lock you in to paying more when it's too late to walk away. They'll quote you a…read morebasic price over the phone and unless you ask about things like expansion tank, water pan, earthquake straps etc. (things most other plumbers include by default), they'll tack those on once they arrive and at that point, if you're water heater is dead, you're in a tough spot and likely going to shell out the other $400+ for these other items rather than find another plumber and further delay getting hot water. Most plumbers include those items in their estimate since they are typically required to be code compliant. Fast Water Heater's price all in after the sneaky charges would easily be $400-500 more than competitors. My estimate with another company included all those items mentioned above, plus they refreshed some of my piping as needed for the original cost quoted ($400 less than Fast) and took care of the permit. I highly suggest looking elsewhere for water heater replacement unless you're in to playing games.

I get that not everybody does free estimates and am happy to pay for a short consult, but that seemed really high. Found the most local, least "sponsored" entry on Yelp with a decent amount of reviews, talked with Blake on the second ring at 10 AM, he was able to give us a rough estimate with just pictures of the unit, came with everything he needed, even with a few surprises with our old house and unique install, fixed a few issues with connections from our previous install, all done in a few hours that afternoon! Price was definitely fair and can't say enough about how competent, pleasant, and easy it was. Support your local specialist. :)

An AI voice answered the phone, asked me why I was calling, told me it was going to look up my account details, said it had a problem and that someone would contact me to follow up, and then hung up on me. A few hours later I got a text from "Cameron". I complained to "Cameron" about the experience I had from the AI phone answerer. "Cameron" apologize and told me that such an experience would frustrate him too...then "Cameron" decided to be transparent with me and tell me that he was in fact AI as well and "his" real name was "Carson". We went back and forth about 6 times to explain the problem I was having and to set up an appointment. Then "Cameron" told me that the time we worked out wasn't confirmed yet and that someone would be calling me to confirm the time. Thanks, "Cameron". This was Friday around 4:00PM. THE NEXT MORNING, a human being (I think) texted me from the same number to confirm the appointment. After I let them know how unhappy I was with the AI scheduling service, a human (I think) did call me and apologized for it. Then, on the day of the appointment, the technician arrived an hour and a half after the 12:00-16:00 window we had set up. I had to call them at 16:30 to ask if the technician was coming and they told me he would be there soon. When he did arrive, in the middle of me making dinner for my family, he told me that the faucet would need to be replaced and that it would be $750 (!!) in labor to fix it. Then I was charged $83 for his time (which I guess would be rolled into the service). So, in the end I still had a leaky faucet and I was out $83 with the option to pay $670 to replace a faucet (plus the cost of the faucet itself). For that price, I'm just going to do it myself. Then the spam texts started coming from "Cameron" asking about the estimate. I got one every day until I told it to stop texting me. This company used to be great but I'm going to be looking around the next time I need a plumber. Please ditch this stupid AI system. Please don't charge your customers if you're extremely late for your own four hour window - especially if the diagnosis takes five minutes and is "I can't fix it - replace the faucet".
