I bought a truck yesterday and a nail was found in the back passenger side tire while it was being…read moreinspected by a mechanic before I purchased it. I knew at the time of purchase that the tires were fairly worn and was told by the pre-purchase inspection tech that I "should replace them before winter" (it was early spring). There was a nearby Discount Tire so I drove by and set up an appointment for the following day. I showed up for my appointment and the tech came out and inspected the nail and measured the wear on the other tires that had no nails. The Discount Tire employee took less than 30 seconds before he told me "they couldn't plug the tire and rambled off some DOT standard". I called another shop and they said "that sounds just like Discount, if it's in the top I can repair it." The other location (Big O Tire) had knowledgeable techs, was family owned, and gave me plenty of advice and fixed the tire for free. The tech at Big O said "they won't repair your tire but they will let you drive out of there with a nail stuck in your tire... which one seems more safe?" Not to mention, if it only took 30 seconds why in the world didn't they look when I was in the day before? In comparison the employees at Discount Tire seemed like minimum wage / teenagers who know little about cars and just serve the corporate bottom line. If at all possible forget Discount Tire exists. They aren't there to serve you.

So, when the Fort Morgan Humane Society was offered a free, but not-working van to transport dogs and cats, he offered to fix the van for free. Truly amazing! There were many mechanical issues with the van and it seemed as he repaired one problem another problem would pop up since the van was a 2013 Ford that was sitting in a parking lot for several years. He fixed everything! Now the Fort Morgan Humane Society has a "new" van to transport dogs and cats to the vet or to Front Range humane societies to help them find a new home when our shelter is full. Then when I asked Steve how much I owed him, he said not a penny. I couldn't let this kindhearted man work for free so I forced $20 in his hand. I'm very pleased with my visit.
