Steve adopted his mischievous mixed golden lab dog from the Fort Morgan Humane Society. That crazy, but adorable pup is Macy. So, when the Fort Morgan Humane Society was offered a free, but not-working van to transport dogs and cats, he offered to fix the van for free. Truly amazing! There were many mechanical issues with the van and it seemed as he repaired one problem another problem would pop up since the van was a 2013 Ford that was sitting in a parking lot for several years. He fixed everything! Now the Fort Morgan Humane Society has a "new" van to transport dogs and cats to the vet or to Front Range humane societies to help them find a new home when our shelter is full. I had a slow leak in my tire-rim bead seal. The rim is rusty and flaky. Discount wouldn't touch it. All they wanted to do is sell me 4 new rims. Steve and Darrell took care of me. They got me right in with very little wait. Steve ground off all the rough, rusty obstructions and got my tire to seal without a leak (so far anyway). Then when I asked Steve how much I owed him, he said not a penny. I couldn't let this kindhearted man work for free so I forced $20 in his hand. I'm very pleased with my visit. Steve does incredible work. I have used him for years with many cars for tires, alignments and as a mechanic. He is honest and will show you exactly what is wrong, in a no BS kind of way. His work lasts. I trust him, and he has earned it. Recently, I bought a 2001 Tacoma and needed help with the front end control arms to get it to drive a couple thousand miles safely right after the fix. Not only did he do an awesome job, but he got me in quick and I had absolutely no issues along the drive. I appreciate the work Steve does beyond words. He is the mechanic to choose. I have worked on cars under other mechanics and can say this work is in his blood and he stands behind a job well done. The four star rating is a mistake. It should be zero stars or negative stars. On the basis of my personal experience in dealing with the owner of this shop, I agree with those who say he knows what he's doing, takes an old-fashioned approach to his trade and doesn't rip people off by insisting on parts and labor that aren't needed like most of the big national chains do. But there is a very negative aspect of doing business with him, and that is that he is one of the most overtly unfriendly, nasty, disrespectful, insulting and obnoxiously unpleasant people you're likely to ever encounter in a business setting. He looks like an unmade bed, his shop and grounds are a filthy disorganized mess, he has two large dogs that follow customers around and menacingly bark at them. He is rude, crude, spews a constant stream of vulgarity and profanity, and talks to customers like they they are something to be scraped from the bottom of his shoe. He constantly bitches and complains about how stupid and clueless people are, how much of a pain in the ass customers are to deal with, how America is going to hell in a handcart and what a bunch morons everybody in the the world are except for him are and how he'd like to tell the whole human race to go f*** itself. He is brutally condescending and dismissive and tells you to your face if you don't like it you can kiss his rear end and take a flying leap. He does pretty good work for the most part, but if you're going to do business with him you had better be prepared to be abused, insulted and put through an ordeal that is the figurative equivalent of being dunked into a cesspool. He doesn't follow through on things he promises and agreements he makes, he obviously doesn't care how much it inconveniences the people who bring him their business, and if you try to hold him accountable, no matter how nicely and pleasantly you do it, he rips you a new one and tells you to get lost. I've had more than enough of that kind of treatment from this flaming a-hole, and there is nothing that could induce me to go back for another heaping helping of what he dishes out. I was in an accident a few months ago and, long story short, I ended up needing one new tire. Which necessitates all four new tires. So the body shop I used ordered my apparently rare tires from a random shop in town. I gave no thought to who this shop was until I got a flat tire last week. It was Diagonal Tire in Longmont and, despite their "rough around the edges" shop (really, really rough) I won't use another shop until I move. I've always used Discount Tires for flats (and I have had many, MANY flats) and I was always forced to replace them, something that usually also required a whole new set. Not here-the guy working at the shop got me right in, despite a clearly very busy schedule (while I was there, at least four people came in for various issues.) He popped my tire off, patched it up, even cleaned it, and sent me on my way, free of charge. Given that my past experiences with Discount Tires had me prepared to plunk down some cash for a new tire (tires....) I left feeling more than pleased. Don't let the exterior fool you-these guys are there to fix your tires and fix them well. They may not have the shiny waiting room that the Discounts of the world do, but I bet you'll leave feeling a lot happier (and safer) if they just took care of your wheels. read more

Tire picked up a nail. Slow leak. Guys at Firestone suggested a replacement tire for about $220 out the door instead of a fix because the nail might have caused some structural damage. Highly unlikely. Guys at Big O suggested a replacement set of 4 if I was going to replace the one tire. $800. No thanks. My 4 tires had at least another year of wear on them, maybe more. The guys at Diagonal were super. They put a plug in the nail hole and a patch on the inside for an airtight professional fix. Had me in and out in 30 minutes. Charged me 10 bux. I procrastinated in calling around for tires until shortly before a cross country trip. They were able to work me in last minute even though they're clearly busy and they got my tires the next day! My only complaint is that it took a few calls bugging them to get an answer but that probably wouldn't have mattered if I wasn't on a timeline. He didn't charge me for the minor alignment adjustment I needed and found me a good deal on tires. The shop does look a little like a junkyard but the guys were nice and since they got me a good deal on tires I don't care what it looks like. They do have a couple labs (that some reviewers complained about barking) but as long as they get to sniff you they'll be chill and leave you alone. Overall it was a good experience and I'll be back for my tires in the future. read more

I moved to town about a year ago and I'm just getting around to writing my reviews for all the awesome help I've received since I got into town. This shop is a sad excuse for a small business . NEVER GO TO THIS SO CALLED SHOP. Called on a Monday to schedule an appointment for my SUV let them know I just put on all brand new parts and it's way out of alignment. I'm assuming I was speaking to the owner( most unprofessional human I have ever encountered) he said not a problem we set an appointment for Thursday afternoon. So I bring my truck In and this is the most DISGUSTING shop I have ever seen. But that's not even the worst part! So I walk in say I'm here for my alignment and the owner start ragging on about how all cars are pieces of crap blah blah blah long story short I go to pull it in and he tells me it's to out of alignment before I'm even in the bay....... so basically he didn't wanna align it because it was to much work? This is a locally owned small scale tire shop, tucked into a small lot at 815 1st Avenue west of Main St in Longmont -- definitely nothing fancy. I bought snow tires from them before and they saved me about $100. Plus they charge less for changing the tires out when winter season ends or begins. Steve is very knowledgeable and helpful. While here for a softball tournament, I had both batteries go bad. We'll at least I just couldn't replace one. First called Costco, they have them, but they don't change batteries. Looked on yelp.found this place and gave them a call, Steve said come on down. And yes this place looks rough, but ended up being my type of place. They were all busy, and had that dirt that said yes, I've been humping all day long in this heat. Anyway, he had one and had to get another delivered. So while he was finishing the car he was on, I went and grab my work gloves and said hey, I don't care if you charge me to put it in, my kid is playing soon, let me help get this job going. Man Steve made me feel welcomed, showed me his tool box , and we went at it, an go figure , stuck bolt on the battery hold down. We worked together in 90 plus heat and got it. Finally got the other battery and truck fired up. Had a error code come in, and he said ill look at it. At the end after taking with him and his guys for about a hour through this whole thing, he cut me a a deal and saved me some money on the two batteries I needed. These guys are great! I wanted a local tire dealer to work with so I didn't get the "run around" from guys working on commission (cough*big o*cough). I called them up and got a quote right away and tires on my car the next day. They answered all my questions and did not pressure me to make a sale. I also needed a rotation on my girlfriends car, they got me in within 15 minutes. I will definitely be going back to Diagonal for any tire or brake work. read more

Very rude. I called to ask to schedule an Alignment. Easy enough. I said " I'd like to know if I can get an Alignment done with you guys", and the response I got was "Not today. I have like Three cars to do today". Good for you. Not what I asked. I was going to schedule something. I hung up on the guy, and gave my money to someone else. I'll just post this anywhere I can. Some businesses don't care anymore. So ranting on Social Media seems to be the only way to push customers somewhere else so they feel a need to be decent people. Won't go here ever! read more

I recently moved to Longmont and so I didn't have a regular shop that I used for tires. When I got a flat unexpectedly on my way home one day (I stupidly had them on too long and they wore out), I went looking around online for a good place to use. Diagonal Tire and Alignment had good reviews and it sounded like Steve was a trustworthy guy from what I read. So, I called him and said I needed all 4 tires replaced and my car aligned. I figured if the one that blew was worn out that bad, they would all need to be replaced. I talked to Steve on the phone and he said he'd work with me on price for the alignment if I did buy all 4 tires. So, I got into the shop and Steve made me feel very comfortable with the tires that would be replacing what I had. He also took a look at my car and told me I only needed my front two tires replaced and not to waste my money by replacing my back tires as they still had a lot of use on them. Then he still worked with me on a deal for the alignment. I was so happy with my decision to come here for my new tires. I felt that Steve was very honest with me and wasn't out to just take a girl (who is clueless about all things car related) for her money. I initially asked for all four tires to be replaced, so he could have easily let me do that. I valued his honesty and appreciated his outgoing personality, too. Im a military service member and thought I had seen more than my fair share of shockers in my time, but as far as any business Ive had dealings with, this one takes the cake. I had made arrangements to get my solid axle Ford aligned after I did ball joints on it. I told Steve about my truck and set up on it. He quoted me a price and told me a rough time to show up. I could not get a set appointment for this, but was told it would be quick and first come, first serve. I arrived first this past Monday and was only greeted by two barking dogs. They were not aggressive, just obnoxious and unwatched with shock collars on though clearly not turned on. I pulled my 18 month old out of his carseat in back and walked to what appeared to be the entrance as 2 short fat guys came yelling out of the garage. I asked if one was Steve and if he was still able to get my truck in. He began yelling about how my truck was a piece of shit, my tires were too big and how I could 'fuck off if I thought he would chance damaging his equipment over my piece of shit tires and rims.' I have a newer F250 lifted with 37x12.50x18 Procomps on aftermarket rims. I had discussed this in full detail before bringing my truck in. He had offered to swap tires with a smaller set he had on hand to do the job. When I arrived I was met with my toddler in my arms to a slew of insults and obscenities. I would have just as soon believed he was trying to pick a fist fight intentionally instead of trying to do any type of job. At no time did I argue, raise my voice or even insist he needed to try to do the job. I couldnt have likely got a word in to do so if I had tried. I simply reminded him (as I was already loading my son back into his car seat) what we had agreed upon over the phone. He stopped for a second and told me I could drop the vehicle off and leave it with him, which he would try to get to in the next few days. I would have to be half a deck short to leave my truck with anyone like that. I literally feared for my son's safety as both males participated in this. I made the best choice I knew to make and got my son safely out of their immediately. Im not entirely sure why anyone would go here. I am not sure if the guy isnt all there, but Id certainly never chance letting anyone I know go there.
