I've had a terrible phobia of dentists, ever since I was about 7 years old and had to have a baby tooth pulled because it didn't fall out on its own. I was scared, but the dentist, a kindly old man (or so I thought), assured me that it "wouldn't hurt a bit." Tentatively, I opened my mouth, and without warning: SNAP!!!!! An incredible pain like I'd never experienced before in my young life, and blood everywhere. I would never trust dentists again. Until now! Someone at my office recommended Gabriela Lee, and it turns out that tons of people at my office use her, because she is friggin' awesome. She is kind, smart, personable and professional. She remembers things you told her 6 months ago and asks about them at your next visit. She tells you what you need done, but understands that there are other considerations to think about for major dental work (my favourite example: she told me I needed an old crown re-done, but said, "This is a big deal, so take the time you need to prepare yourself mentally and financially, and we'll do it when you're ready."). And when you DON'T need the work done, she won't make you do it -- which means I get to keep my wisdom teeth! Hooray! Her hygienist, Mara, is also great. I would never go so far as to say that I look forward to my cleanings now, but Mara makes them tolerable. She greets me as she would an old friend. She praises me for good flossing habits and makes me feel like I'm getting an A on a quiz. She gets the cleaning done quickly and efficiently, and packs me a goodie bag when I'm done. (What can I say -- I'm always a sucker for a goodie bag, even when it's only filled with toothpaste and floss.) Even the receptionists are excellent, and the office is run like a well-oiled machine. I make my next appointment while I'm there, and I get my reminder card in the mail a couple of weeks before that appointment. I thought about subtracting a half-star for the fact that Dr. Lee doesn't accept any dental insurance. I still get reimbursed by my insurance, but it's a pain because I have to pay for the services up front and then send in a form and get a reimbursement check, and it takes a few weeks. But if I take away a half star for that, I can only give Dr. Lee four stars, and that wouldn't be accurate, because both she and Mara are definitely 5-star ladies. I got the Groupon this office offered, and it was for a cleaning, exam and x-rays with either Dr. Lee or Dr. Montessoro (?). I had my appointment and the dental hygenist was super nice, but the dentist (Dr. Lee) told me I needed 4 fillings and scared me so much! She was quite harsh and told me basically that it's all my fault (which I know is true, but at a time like that I'd appreciate a little tact) and I absolutely have to pay them $1600 as soon as possible to get them fixed. The hygenist was really nice and prioritized them for me. But I got a second opinion and was told that I don't need any work at all! My second dentist told me she sees what Dr. Lee mentioned but that none of those places is serious enough to need a filling as long as I continue flossing and swishing with fluoride mouthwash! I know the purpose of offering a Groupon is to introduce more people to your business, but that doesn't mean it's ok to make someone afraid their teeth are going to fall out unless they pay you $1600 to do unnecessary work! read more

It usually doesn't take long when you step into an office to recognize a healthy professional and collegial atmosphere -- and this is what you will find here. Gabriella Lee and her colleagues at this state-of-the-art office are exceptional: highly skilled, professional, friendly, and accommodating. My wife and I have been with this practice for some 20 years, and have recommended them to many friends and colleagues, all of whom are also enthusiastic. Good dentistry is expensive, and this practice is no exception, but at least you are rewarded with excellent care, a commitment to meeting your needs, and a very nice office setting on an upper floor of the Rockefeller Center complex. Everyone goes out of their way to be helpful and accommodate patients for those dental emergencies that always seem to happen on weekends or just before a business trip. Our primary dentist has been Gabriela Lee, and she and her capable hygienists, Mara and Yvette are tops. You couldn't ask for more highly skilled or pleasant service. This is a practice that also continually invests in education and technology that makes their services better. This clearly is a practice that thinks about what it is doing, and what it should be buying, and over the years has consistently made good decisions in improving care. read more

I generally struggle to find services providers I like in NYC... dentists, doctors, opticians, etc... but I've been with LLM for a while now and I'm quite happy there! My appointments are never late, the office is very modern and well kept, and the staff is very nice. Every hygienist I've had has been great. The doctors are efficient and friendly and I don't every feel like they're trying to push excessive amounts of procedures and charges on me (like I've experienced in other places). They DO try to take X-rays every time I go though which I find unusual because I go every 6 months. That seems like a bit much, but I guess that's between them and the insurance companies. read more

I needed emergency repair work and Dr. Lee was recommended by my brother in law. The office was so helpful and arranged to get me in right away. Dr. Lee was wonderful, and did a fantastic job on my tooth. I was very impressed with the work and though I live in New Orleans, I will have Dr. Lee make the permanent repair to that tooth. Upscale little dentist's office with average age of clientele being somewhere upwards of 60. Friendly, efficient, high-quality service but offered at absolutely no discount to students. Receptionist Christine and office manager Carolyn very good; Jenna, dental hygienest, is a bit of a stinge-- tried to prevent Dr. LaSota from giving me a complimentary temporary filling-- but nevertheless assisted in a painless and efficient visit. I went back to Dr. Monterosso for a filling replacement that he recommended at my cleaning/exam back in November. He was super nice and took the time to talk to me, explain the procedure and answer all my questions because I was feeling quite anxious. They have these goggles you can wear to watch a movie, my guess is to block your vision from seeing any scary instruments or whatever. It was as pleasant as a filling replacement can be. I'll begin by saying that as long as I'm living in or around NYC, I won't see another dentist! Dr. Monterosso is phenomenal and takes his time with each and every patient. He is detailed in all of his explanations and answers any and all questions/concerns you have. Whether it's a cavity or a simple cleaning, he is very gentle and constantly asking if you are ok. He also does it all; aside from general dentistry, he provides costemtic dentistry, teeth whitening, and invisalign (Which I've been using for the past few months, and the results are amazing!)The entire office staff is great and they make you feel very comfortable. I can't say enough positive things about my experience in Dr. Monterosso's office. I am not the easiest patient, and have super anxiety issues when it comes to the dentist, but I have to say, Dr. Monterosso took the time to make sure I was comfortable and to explain the procedure before and during the visit. A massage chair, virtual movies, and a flat screen TV are just some of the ways they help distract you from knowing you are actually sitting in a dentists' chair - which actually helped tremendously! PS - as if the case for most new yorkers, the dentist is expensive - BUT they are willing to work out a payment plan for major work and even offer a few months interest free. LLM Dental was recommended to me 10 years ago when I couldn't get an emergency appointment with my own dentist.
