I booked my appointment to use my Groupon, and have a consultation about filler for under my eyes. When I arrived, I was promtly, and very graciously greeted by Kayla (I hope thats how she spells it!), filled out paper work, and was seen right away. Dr. Vallins asked me routine questions, but also personal ones about exactly what I was looking for. In the middle of the procedure with my gum cut open, a bright light shining in my eyes, and my mouth pumped up with novacain, he announced that I had some bone deformity and that he needed to sterilize and laser the bone to promote re-growth (which my primary dentist said rarely works). "I don't know if your insurance covers it but the girls out front will let you know how much it costs." At this point I'm also feeling nauseous. I had to pay an additional $1100 for it because I signed the paperwork up front about agreeing to pay for anything the insurance doesn't cover but this was entirely unethical! read more

When I came back for a redo or what he calls a touch up, he examined my face and was ready to inject again but while his assistant was preparing, she noticed I was too bruised. She said I had to heal first. Thank goodness for her! The doctor didn't notice but she did? It's just there were some odd ball things with him and signs he's not paying attention. Went to Dr Vallins after purchasing 50 units of Botox from Groupon. The receptionist was not at all friendly and a bit rude. Although he was personable and pleasant, he definitely ripped me off with the Botox. I've gotten many Groupons for Botox before and never had a negative experience. He doesn't offer numbing cream and definitely did not give me the full 50 units (or he waters down his Botox). Additionally, he's not careful with the needle --leaving me with blood running down my forehead. Within a month my forehead lines were back, when correctly administered Botox lasts 4-5 months on me. I can't speak to his skill as a dentist, but highly recommend you go elsewhere for Botox. ValEL salon and Miracleface are two places I highly recommend that are available on Groupon. They provide numbing cream and administer the full units of Botox you buy. read more

Update: To the doctors response. I have many good friends who are black. So your accusations that I am racist is uncalled for. You have two front desks girls, I used that description in my previous review to specify who, because the other girl seems nice.. So regarding your OTHER front desk girl, that was the behavior she showed ME and I am just pointing that out, regardless of what race I would have called that out. Point blank I was not greeted, gotten cold reception and she was up front looked and laughed at me BOTH times. So who insulted who first? I, the patient left feeling deeply hurt and insulted by her reaction. Now, any place of business with morals would try to rectify the situation and apologize for such behavior I encountered. But, you doctor want to manipulate the situation and make as if I making making this up. Just own up to the fact your front desk girl is rude! As far as my fillers go, the only good is that you offered the touch up. If it wasn't for that there would barely be a difference in my lips. As other reviews stated I should have looked 1st to see what was being used and how much. I have no reason to lie. The African American receptionist in the front, does not greet she is not friendly at all. I was scheduled for a 6-month check-up. When I arrived the hygienist insisted that she would clean my teeth. I pointed out that my teeth had been cleaned only two weeks earlier. She insisted that they would clean my teeth and that the deal was that Vallins's office would clean my teeth every six months and my regular dentist's office would clean my teeth every six months (so every 3 months). I had never been told this. The hygienist went to get Vallins, who shortly thereafter appeared, very irritated. He poked around in my mouth for 30 seconds and said that I had pus and bleeding in my mouth, indicative of an infection. I needed, he said, to schedule gum surgery. The hygienist said, See! That's why you have to come to us, so we can catch this early. Despite their high-pressure tactics, I did not schedule gum surgery, but instead left their office and called my regular dentist. They scheduled an appointment with another periodontist, who told me that there was no sign of infection and that I would probably never need gum surgery. I do not recommend Vallins. read more

I just moved from Los Angeles to New York, and I am seeking my new beauty providers. I thought I would give Dr. Vallins, a try as there was a Discount voucher available for 50 units of Botox and also he's located very close to my office. His office is your typical small New York City office with at least two separate patient rooms. His principal clients seem to be for dental work. When I looked him up, he is part of the Delta dental providers, which means he takes their insurance. The front desk was efficient at scheduling me in. They are not particularly warm or pleasant but they are on top of their job. My reason for the incredibly low rating was Dr. Vallins, DDS himself and his unpleasant behavior over 2 visits. Not only was his manner abrupt and hostile the first time I met with him, but he was aggressive in injecting me and left me with a dime size bruise that I still have over eight days later. Furthermore, when I made it clear to him that I had had my four head done in January and that this was to touch up the four head and if any units were left over, the Crosely, he said that would not be a problem. I am quite certain that I was clear that the four head included it between my eyebrows. I am not some new person to Botox. I was part of the clinical trials for this medication over 20 years ago. I know how to communicate my needs and have never had an issue with communicating with my injector. Dr. Vallins informed me that I might have a bruise from one side of my crows feet. I was disappointed but as we all know these things can happen. I did ask him prior to leaving his office why I did not see any injection sites closer to my brow and he said that he had done my everywhere. Five days later when I still had quite a bit of a billeting! I sent a email to his office clearly stating that there were still mobility. They promptly scheduled me for an appointment. What was so frustrating and unpleasant was the doctor's interaction with me the second time. He was brusque and perfunctory the first visit but the second visit he was downright hostile. I explained that I was very clear about the areas that I wanted frozen as I get headaches from wrinkling my forehead when I read, and I showed him the first time as well as the second time and I said that I was accustomed to this being all handled within 50 units. This doctor injects by area and he continued to refer to in between the eyebrows as a separate area. I do not disagree that this is a different muscle group, however what I had paid for was 50 units not one area or two areas etc. As I have had this procedure done many times, I know that 50 units is more than enough to do the entire forehead & in between the eyebrows and the crows feet, as I do not utilize a lot of product because I maintain my injections. Although the doctor did inject me between my eyebrows this 2nd visit, he was very unpleasant about it. It was as though he had to give me an anatomy lesson, which of course was totally unnecessary, but mainly had to put me in my place before he took care of what should've been done right the first time. He was aggressive and Curt with me, as well as disdainful of my offering that perhaps it was a West Coast versus East Coast style of communicating about injection site. Quite frankly when I made that suggestion it was to try to defuse the situation and hope that he would be less aggressive. I am accustomed to this procedure being done in a way that has more of a nurturing customer service angle. I am also used to someone who is more concerned about my feeling good about the experience and less concerned with who is right and who was wrong. Furthermore, although bruising is always possible, this is only the second time I have bruised in the 20+ years of receiving Botox. I cannot recommend going to this doctor. It was so unpleasant I wish I had never come here. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Vallins for my dental work for years and was always intrigued by the brochures in the lobby for injections... I decided to treat myself... I didn't buy the Groupon but he honored the price for me, very cool...and I did my homework by reading all of the reviews before making my decision on where to go. Yelpers are cold but I didn't let that sway my decision, I would rather him be on the conservative side my first time (esp since he offers free touch ups) and he was very accommodating, didn't rush me, numbed my whole face and lips...I didn't feel a thing!!...he actually talked me out of doing too much, which i appreciate... My lips are perfect, not overdone, just a subtle full pout...that terrible wrinkle on my forehead is gone, my smile lines are gone...i went for my touch up today and decided to do under my eyes, which i can already see the difference, and after all that...i can tell you I'm still only out of pocket a little over 1300...my best friend in TX just had the same work done and paid 3200 at a very high end office...which is fine for her pocket, but like i said I've been seeing Dr. Vallins for years, I trust his work and trust that he would do whatever he could to make me happy and honor his work...he doesn't rush you and doesn't try to sell you more...with every move being reviewed and posted on social media today, It would be very hard for him to fill your face with water, he knows this is going on yelp, he wants good reviews so hes not going to jeopardize his work.... People feel so entitled these days, they are upset if your not greeted with a warm smile when you walk in, both times I was greeted nicely as i walked in...not that it would have made me post a bad review if i wasn't...I'm busy too, we are all busy, trying to fit some "me" time into our rigorous schedules...lighten up people.... DDS Neal Vallins is absolutely amazing at his craft!!! The first time I went to his office, he gave me 2 PDO Thread Lifts, one on each side of my face to lift saggy, aging skin. WOW! Mostly unfound negative reviews - they are very competent at botox w/o the NYC mark-up. I didn't happen to read the Yelp reviews before getting botox with Dr. Vallins, though looked them up once I arrived at the office sitting in the waiting room. Because my job is in the media, how I look is really important. They scared me to the point where I considered leaving the office. Something in me decided to stay and I can attest to the fact that he is just as good as the Dr.'s on Park Avenue who charge 4x that amount. I've been to a lot of them. The only reason I gave the service 4 stars is because you are probably going to have to wait 10 - 15 minutes to get in to see him. However, if you're saving $350 for 15 min. of your time for the same exact service, it doesn't seem so bad. read more

Despite confirming my appointment and seeing my insurance, the office allowed me to go all the way there knowing they did not accept my insurance. Why not call to let me know since Zocdoc says he accepts and made the appointment through they're office? I ran out on a busy work day with a painful tooth a few days before I have to travel oversees... I have lost my only opportunity to see a dentist because this was the only time I had available. Why not call? Why approve the appointment if they can see the insurance and know they don't accept it?? Zocdoc requires the doctor to approve at the very least a call from the office to let me know! They were very nice and answered my questions politely and in detail. This man is a crook! I had purchased a Groupon for laser gum treatment, but he wanted to do other, more extensive work beforehand - treatments that other dentists had said were unnecessary. When I agreed to a scaling, he took less than five minutes, but charged me for a full treatment. Then he cashed the Groupon for a laser treatment he never did. He only refunded that after I threatened to take him to the Better Business Bureau. He is dishonest and a total crook. And how many reputable dentists do Botox? Is he that desperate for business?
