My puppy Coco was due for a groom. Luckily, we found Lloyd! I really like the fact that he is mobile. Its super convenient. I have to admit; I was nervous because Coco is a covid pup. I found Lloyd off Yelp and so thankful I did! Our 14 year old Chow has been going to PetSmart for his grooming but since he's gotten older, he's been tough to work with. It was so difficult finding a new groomer that can deal with Tiki's temperament. The local groomers had no patience with Tiki, so we drove him to a groomer in Dixon for the last 6-7 years. My husband and I decided to take our baby Oso to Lloyd as his previous groomer was having a hard time with him biting at her when she tried to trim around his face/eye area. Oso always gives us a hard time when we try to trim him ourselves, usually he will wiggle his way out of our arms and try to bite at our hands when getting near his facial area to trim. Anyway, with that said we decided to try Lloyd. I gave him a call and explained to him the issues we were having and he was kind and said that he would give it his best shot and that sometimes dogs, just like humans, don't like to be touched in certain places but he would try. We were happy to give him a try so on Thursday 3/12/2020 my husband walked Oso over to Lloyd (as we are practically neighbors). Lloyd had Oso for about 2 hours and then text my husband to let him know he was ready to be picked up. When my husband picked him up he said Oso looked happy and he was happy with his cut. I was waiting to be picked up from work and my husband was already running late for me so he paid Lloyd the $100 and left. When I got in the car I seen Oso's haircut and thought he looked cute but so bare! I didn't have much of an issue with his cut because I think Oso is perfect no matter what he looks like. What caught my attention though was his right eye as it was bloodshot (see pictures). I asked my husband what happened and he said he didn't know but noticed the redness and was waiting for me to see him before we asked Lloyd anything about it as Oso's eye was fine (and has never had eye issues before) prior to his appointment. I thought maybe we would wait a couple hours to see if it goes away and just monitor his behavior. Towards the evening his eye worsened and became like the color of oxblood and Oso began pawing at his eye and rubbing it against the couch and whining. We became worried and wondered if this was something worse so we took him to the ER Veterinary in Antioch. Long story short (I realize this is lengthy already), the ER vet said this is likely due to trauma and wanted to run very expensive tests that we just couldn't afford at the moment. She assured me that Oso will be fine for the next 24 hours but HIGHLY encouraged us to follow up with our primary vet. We took Oso to Antioch Veterinary this afternoon (3/13/2020) where they ran tests and concluded that he has no internal eye scratch but that the bloodshot was due to pressure/force to his head area. I had a bad feeling from the moment I saw Oso's eye that he was likely being held forcefully by Lloyd to make him stay still in order to trim his facial area but I didn't want to think that as it broke my heart to think that my baby was being forcefully restrained. I know Oso and there is just no way he let a stranger that he just met for the first time trim his face without putting up a wiggly fight. Anyway, all of that to say that I asked Lloyd for a refund and also to reimburse us for the expenses we paid to ensure Oso is healthy and not injured. He refused. Here are the screenshots of our conversation. I'm not one to put people on blast or try to ruin any kind of reputation or say ill things about them to people but I am truly shocked by this. It's just not right, this happened on Lloyds watch and care and THE LEAST he could do is apologize and offer a refund as we were not satisfied with the results (a bloodshot hurt eye). I did say that I would file a complaint and take legal action but it will cost more than the $197 it cost us to make sure our baby is OK (not to mention the additional $100 grooming fee). I expected him to take some responsibility and do the right thing that any good business owner would do for a dissatisfied customer. I understand that people make mistakes, I understand that accidents happen, even if it was Oso being difficult, but at least own up to it and accept SOME KIND of responsibility. I wish nothing ill towards Lloyd but I sure hope that this is not a common occurrence with the services he provides to our fur babies. I have posted screenshots of our conversations (12 total numbered in order). Anyway, just beware no matter where you decide to take your pets. By the way, Oso will recover and is back to his happy self! read more
