I answered in detail by performing a financial analysis of his quote. He quoted $875 for a small project that requires modest supplies and 3 hours of labor. I had it done for $300 twice in the past . Even if the supplies cost $125, which they don't, it works out at $250 per hour of labor. I told Tim his rates were unreasonable. And I was looking to hire a painter, not a Fortune 500 CEO at $250 an hour! I contacted two other contractors and they acted very professional and quoted less than half of what Curtner Painting quoted. Do you know what Tim told me in the follow up email after I gave him full answer and analyzed his quote? I quote: " I priced it on the high end, so you would pick another contractor. While walking around the house, I had a bad feeling about you". I never had a contractor before who developed any feelings about me before, let alone bad ones. Being caught with the super inflated quote, Tim admitted to inflate the price. And he did it as a sore loser. People don't double market rates in their quote and act as sore losers after losing to a reasonable contractors by saying "they priced it in the high end, so the customer picks up another contractor". If the company does not want business they say they are booked for the next few months and don't waste time on providing a quote. Two other contractors did not have "bad feelings" about me, and provided reasonable quotes. I am happy to go with either one of them. Stay away from Curtner Painting. Dishonest and unprofessional.

1) New home construction and despite taping/pointing out all of the glossy eggshell paint…read moreerroneously used for touching up the flat white paint throughout the house pre-escrow, it still remained after closing 2) scheduled to come at 730am to fix glossy paint/sweaty wall mess and I am awakened with a phone call at 645am. Early is great typically, but not pre7am without notice. 3) they were supposed to come back 30 min later but instead told some other company the builder also sent , to 'do everything and they would do what's left.' This cluster is thanks to the builder being grossly disorganized, but also due to their shabby workmanship. 4) so I message the owner to find out the color that I need to now run out and buy for the other company and he says Swiss coffee when it's in no way a cream color. I ask what formulation and there's no reply. One of the workers calls their former co-worker and finds out that its flat bright white and 'painters edge' which as it turns out, is only sold in a store one town over. So second paint store stop I go all before 9am. If all of the above and white paint splatters and smears on dark grey tile sounds good to you, then this is the company for you. It may be because it was a new build without proper oversight and quality control, but I can assure you for my future painting projects, I would never contract with Rock Bottom painting.

Although I did NOT use their services, Ken was extremely professional, kind, and gave me a no-BS estimate right there on the spot! I got "estimates" from two other paint companies (one begins with a Z): one basically told me over the phone if I was "looking for a cheap estimate then I should call somewhere else because he "paid for workers comp and it's expensive"--basically talked me out of even getting an estimate! The other company took VIDEO of my condo, told me he would email me a "detailed formal estimate", then I had to call two more times and finally got an INformal email (un-detailed) quote 2 days later of DOUBLE what Solid Rock would've charged. I ended up doing the painting myself because it was a pretty small job anyway, but I added Solid Rock Painting to our HOA Vendors List because Ken impressed me with their professionalism and great response!

He was right and saved me a lot of money. He is incredibly honest. I gave him a key to my house and left for the month.
