History

Established in 2002.

LN Engineering was founded in 2002, initially offering its billet aluminum Nickies cylinders for aircooled Porsche engines. In later years, LN expanded to offer Nickies sleeving and intermediate shaft bearing kits for Porsche engines. LN has acquired Bilt Racing Service, RND Engines, and HeaderShield and all operate under the LN Engineering LLC brand.

Meet the Business Owner: Charles N.

Charles Navarro founded LN Engineering LLC while studying Computer Science at Northwestern University in 2002 along with his wife, Tammy Hellings, also a graduate of Northwestern with a degree in Chemical Engineering. LN Engineering formed a niche previously non-existent for precision performance aftermarket engine components specifically targeted toward addressing known issues and improving upon original equipment engine components for Volkswagen and Porsche models. LN Engineering is best known for its trademark Nickies air-cooled cylinders. Most notably, the IMS Retrofit and procedure co-developed by LN Engineering and RED solves the well-documented and publicized intermediate shaft ball-bearing failures the M96 engine is prone to and subject of a class-action lawsuit that brought heightened awareness to this problem. Charles has several patents related to products jointly developed by LN and RED and is also involved in several automotive related businesses including IMS Solution.
