My experience with Low and Behold was a great one. More importantly, I was extremely happy with the work I had done. I had an old tattoo done back in the day and wanted to resurrect it. Mike (who is a talented artist) explained to me why and how it would be more beneficial to cover over it rather than attempting to improve the old tatoo in a way that made total sense. He then provided options for what would look good while still covering the old one. I was a little nervous about a cover-up tattoo, fearing that the old one would still be seen, but I litterly couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Now, I can look down and be proud of what I see rather than the regret I previously felt when looking at my old tattoo. Plus, the guys were cool as hell to bullshit with while getting the work done. I'm not a tattoo expert or anything so don't take my post the wrong way.... I have had work at other tattoo parlours downtown Olympia and have always left with a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth when I left.... But not for this place! It was clean and whole staff was friendly funny and awesome! I came in knowing (almost) exactly what I wanted and had several ideas on a sheet of paper, and after being greeted by the lady up front, the owner Lexi came over right away and gave me a personal consultation on the tattoo I wanted and he fit me in within a couple weeks. When it was time for me to come in for my tattoo I was super nervous and he help me through that and gave me many breaks even though I didn't ask for them, and he stuck to his quoted price even though I'm pretty sure I took longer than he thought. The tattoo shop: Very clean, comfortable, and appealing. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. Everyone in the shop was extremely friendly and professional. Anything that comes in contact with your skin is brand new, they were extremely careful with hygiene. Plus, they had some really good tunes playing during the tattoo session. My best friend was actually the one getting her first tattoo, her artist was Sam. Sam is a really cool dude and he made us laugh, we were very intrigued by all of his rad stories. He took the picture of the tattoo my friend wanted and recreated it a bit to make it her own (I thought that was really cool) He is very talented. I went to Lo and Behold to get my first (two) tattoos and I couldn't have made a better choice. I like to do my research before I do anything, so I had visited their website in advance and SO appreciated the fact that they had a video posted on the main page. It was really nice and comforting to see what the people were like, what the shop looked like, and to see samples of each artist's work. I had no idea what to expect from my first tattoo experience, but I felt a little more in-the-know after perusing their website. I walked in a few hours before close on a Thursday and Sam was the only one at the shop. I could tell right away, as soon as I saw his sweet green Schwinn, that it was going to be fun. He put me at ease right away and is super easy to get along with. He looked at my example of what I wanted and improved on it, adding his own touches. He talked me through the whole process and made sure I was comfortable. He even put on some rad music that helped me keep my mind off of the annoying sting on my arm. I really love his personality and enthusiasm for what he does and I couldn't imagine having a better artist for the tattoo I have. The whole process was over quicker and was less painful than I expected. The tattoo was even better than I had originally thought it would turn out and I was surprised at how easy it all was! Poor customer service. A few weeks after getting a tattoo at lo and behold someone pointed out to me it said "KKK" from the side. I went back and showed the artist, he said it was an accident and would fix the Ks, each in roses. He scheduled a touch up to fix it. A few lines were added and I was told he will only fix it for more money. If I wanted a new tattoo I would pay. For an artist to fix a tattoo should not cost more. I only wanted 2 roses in black and ended up with 3 roses and a racial slur. read more

Laura was our artist, and I would recommend her HIGHLY. My dad and I wanted tattoos, we had a consultation with Laura where we brought in some ideas of what we wanted. She recommended some changes to my dad's design and improvements. We got our appointment a week later and just finished getting them today. My dad got a replacement for his 50 year old anchor and added on his dolphin medal from qualifying on submarines. Gorgeous colors and detail, it ended up so much better than I could have ever imagined. I got a small hook and fishing line, it had a great look and style that I wouldn't have been able to come up with. Very creative, and I loved the result. Laura was a great artist, incredibly nice and friendly, and made us feel very comfortable and safe. I would recommend her for small tattoos or larger tattoos, she's very talented. I love this place. Clean, professional, no nonsense, top notch service. Lexi did a fantastic job on my upper arm tattoo and was patient with me and easy to get along with. I've gotten other tattoos elsewhere but this place really impressed me and I felt like the quality of work was so much better than what I had experienced at my previous tattoo shop. My tattoo is vibrant and colorful and I like that Lexi put together the tattoo as he went and drew out pieces of design before my appointment - he's a great artist and knows what he's talking about with recent styles and aftercare. EXTREMELY SHODDY WORK- LOOK ELSEWHERE First of all, I seriously doubt that Lexi actually did all of the tattoos in "his" portfolio. The stellar work he put online was a main reason I chose his shop, but if you notice all of his pictures are against different backdrops and don't look like they were taken at the same location. Some of these reviewers must be his close friends. Also it's a pretty small city, so some people might not feel comfortable writing negative reviews. When I went in for the consult he was extremely friendly and seemed to understand my vision, but when it came time to get the tattoo his whole demeanor changed. The sketch he made was much larger than what I asked for, and he seemed unwilling to change it. When he finally did reduce the size, the new sketch that he made on the spot looked a little incomplete. I brought this up to him and he said he would freehand the details, and that I should trust him. Big mistake. I should have trusted my intuition instead. A friend recommended him, and with that plus the non-refundable deposit I felt pressured to go along with it. He did the tattoo in 45 minutes and charged me for an hour. It looked rushed. Lines that should have been parallel were uneven. The shading was poorly done and wasn't even inside the lines. On top of that he was extremely rude. When I met him he said he plays a musical instrument from India. Sounded like an interesting guy with cool hobbies. Later, when I came in for the tattoo, I was with my girlfriend. Since she's from India, I asked him again what kind of music he plays. He responded "why don't you ask your girlfriend." It came off as a little awkward and confrontational. Maybe he was jealous? I don't know, but it was unpleasant. Later, he asked if she had any tattoos and she responded that she has one on her ribs. He asked to see it, but she politely declined by saying that it's in a private spot. Then he asked her again after she had already refused. She had to say no twice. At one point he suggested that she take the needle and do a line of my tattoo. When I said I'd rather not do that he scoffed like I was turning down a dare or something. I now have to go through the process of getting the tattoo covered up. Every artist I've shown it to says it looks like the work of someone inexperienced. There's no way that the same guy that did my tattoo could've done all the work he shows online. This guy is not a skilled artist. He's also rude, dishonest, and unreliable. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Last summer when I was visiting my hometown Olympia, I wanted to get some work done. I went into Lo and Behold and talked to Sam. I showed him what I was looking to get and he seemed happy to help me. Sam was super professional and drew up exactly what I was looking for. I ended up getting three tattoos. Two mandala's on my lower arm and one geometric leaf. All of them are line work and look very clean and well done! I saw the artist Lexi just last night for a forearm sleeve I've been wanting. I went to him for a consult a week prior, it was a great interaction and he was all ears. When I went in for the actual tattoo apt and saw what he came up with, I was just amazed. He truly listened and came up with exactly what I had in mind. Actually, much better than I had expected. Once he got down to business and the tattoo was coming to life, I was blown away by the level of detail and creativity that was unfolding on my arm. I could not be happier with what I got. He worked in a timely manner. He was an outgoing nice guy, and incredibly patient. I was a bit of a pansy while getting the tattoo. It was incredibly painful. I was introduced to Lexi, the owner of Lo & Behold, through a roommate of mine who had had a touch-up done by Lexi on a half sleeve of his. After finding his work online and seeing his vast artistic styles, I called up the shop to make an appointment for a consult with him. They were able to get me into see him the next day, so I printed out six references of roses and henna style tattoos that I had in mind, though they had absolutely nothing to do with each other. Lexi was able to take my random references and throw them together into a design more beautiful than I ever could have dreamed up on my own, and he did it in less than 24 hours. He had originally quoted me $300 for a tattoo over the size of my hand on my right thigh the day of the consult, but when I came into see his design it was much bigger than I had anticipated. He offered to do the larger design (which would have gone from about my knee to the very top of my hip) for $400, which was unfortunately out of my price range, so he scaled it down a bit for me so that I could pay his original quote. He had quoted me $300 because he said he thought he would be able to get it done in two hours, though we ended up having about a three hour session (with a short cigarette break for me at the halfway point, which I GREATLY appreciated). Even though he took about a full extra hour to work on my tattoo, he still decided to charge me the original quote of $300, which I thought was really kind and very classy, even though he put in much more work than I think either of us anticipated. It's safe to say, I have found my new tattoo artist in Olympia! I don't think I'll be going anywhere else anytime soon, his work is fabulous, his detail is incredible, his color work is outstanding, and his personality and calm attitude really made it a wonderful experience for me. I have an appointment to get a tattoo done by a different artist in B&W filled in with color, and I can't wait to see what Lexi does for me next! read more

Lexi is one of the best tattooist I have encountered. I have had some dirt work done in the past and he has corrected almost all mistakes and have made them look amazing, not to mention the original pieces he had done for me. He's super patient considering what a baby I can be about them which embarrass my husband greatly. He's bit expensive but they all way say "you get what you pay for" and he's worth every dime. He has done almost every tattoo of my husbands and he's gets stopped everywhere we go and is asked who does his work.!!!!! I'll never go anywhere else. read more
