Upon searching for a new stylist I found this highly rated business on Yelp and sent a request for an appointment. I put it in my information, what I am looking for and a 3 day range that apparently is the max Yelp will let you input. I did receive a quick reply but it only said "sorry I'm not available" as if I was putting her out. They could have replied, "thank you for your inquiry, not accepting new clients at this time" or "the time frame you provided doesn't work with my schedule, can we see if we can schedule another time?" or basically any sort of kindness at all. When I realized I had two different medical appointments scheduled on the same day as my initial hair appointment, Myong quickly offered me a new appointment just a few days later. I really appreciated her flexibility, and I was looking forward to my appointment with her. On the newly-scheduled day, I was the first appointment of the morning. I got there at my scheduled time, and waited just a few minutes in the parking lot for her to arrive. This late arrival meant she still needed time to also prepare for her work day, which did not bother me at all. I simply enjoyed the landscaping and decor of the house with my kid while I waited: the delay was negligible. What DID bother me -- and I didn't realize this until after the fact -- was that she had allotted a short time slot for my cut, and she was determined to keep on schedule. So her late arrival and delay translated to a very rushed job for ME, where I felt like I was under the gun to give her my requests and insight into my hair. The hurried turn the appointment took left me pretty uncomfortable. This was still not at all a dealbreaker -- until I got home and saw that she had notched my sideburn with clippers (which I'd initially asked her not to use because previous stylists have had issues with clippers on my hair.) Mistakes happen. It's entirely possible she jerked her hand for a second, and there was the notch. But ... then she styled my hair and let me walk out of there looking like that, without a peep? Looking through the photos on Yelp, it seems like her bread-and-butter is coloring and other beauty (non-haircutting) services. So I can see how, from a business standpoint, a basic no-color haircut would not be a priority for her. I get that. But that's really not an excuse for a poor job. Just don't take the job at all, if that's going to be the end result. For $65 ($80 with tip), I do believe an expectation of baseline competence is reasonable. Short hairstyles are notoriously skill-intensive. With a pixie cut, there's no hiding a style done poorly. If the stylist is going to half-ass the cut, then even rescheduling is not the kindness it seems at first blush. read more

Myong is such as artist with a kind and spiritual soul. My experience with her has been in the capacity of microblading eye brows as well as permanent eye liner. It took a total of 3 sessions with her, and each session she made me feel comfortable, constantly checked in with me and how I was doing, and even offered protein shakes to keep my blood sugar up. She is a gem! My eyebrows are the best work I have ever had and I am so grateful that I found her! There is a room in the back of the salon with the table and Myong sets you up with a warm blanket to make it a comfortable session. We had talked about price before hand and it was like $150+ (can't remember the exact price) and then she spoke on how much it would be the follow time and it was a little cheaper since she wouldn't have to be doing as much just touching up the roots and a toner. I scheduled my next appointment for two-three months out as she suggested. I got my roots touched up to maintain the blonde and a toner to get it a little more platinum and a trim. I got my eyebrows microbladed a few years ago and my mom has been jealous ever since. I saw photos of Myong's work and was super impressed so I scheduled my mom to go to her -- wow, my mom's look better than mine now. Myong is a true artist (also the space she has created is such a lovely vibe, enjoyed spending hours there!). But that's not to say she free-handed it, she was really scientific about the dimensions and the relationship to the rest of the face and the pre- and post-procedure treatment.
