A nice bar that really feels like an upscale dive bar almost. The bartender was fantastic!!! I wish I remembered her name ahha but we loved her. I think her name was Jo? She was so great!!! We came in on a weeknight so it wasn't super crowded but made some friends at the bar. We ordered basic drinks, like g&t's, vodka sodas, shots, etc. haha. It was a lot of fun! Sat at the bar and really enjoyed talking with Jo! She was so nice and really made us feel welcomed at the bar. The bathrooms are also very clean as well. There is apparently a rooftop, but we stayed downstairs since it was a weeknight. Definitely love the vibe here and will be back next time I'm in Reno! read more

Katy and Jo are actually the two best bartenders in this entire damn city. I look forward every week to our jazz nights together and I can always count on their hospitality and exceptional customer service. I frequent Lobar not because of the great ambiance and good selection of liquors but solely for the great experience I have with the people that work here. I cannot believe the audacity of people to take their frustrations out on the hardworking women running the bar. A lot of reviews talk about the drinks, the live music, or the rooftop bar - but what I think this place needs a highlight on is the Happy Hour! Everyday from when they open (3pm) until the crowd picks up (6pm) it's half off house cocktails, beer, and well liquors. The bar is damn near empty at their opening and the bartender is friendly. I would definitely recommend skipping the crowd and coming in early on an occasion to catch up with friends, enjoy the bar, or $1.50 beer! Can't go wrong either way. read more

I recently moved to Reno and am quite surprised that there aren't a lot more restaurants or bars with views of the river and/or mountains. There's only a very small handful of places downtown you can actually see the river from for example and it's completely ludicrous to me that 50 S Virginia St on the River (North of Pioneer Center) they put a parking lot between the building and the river. So I had to reset my expectations for finding cool outdoor dining spots with views. But I digress, I managed to find this gem of a place with a rooftop bar. You can't see the river of course but it has a nice view of the surrounding neighborhood and Downtown area. Bartender was very friendly, made great drinks. It was uncrowded on a Saturday night at 7 as most people apparently come for the DJ later. So if you want a laid back atmosphere, you can hang out in the early evening and if you want some night life you can come later. They do not have food so bring take-out from your favorite restaurant if you want to eat. If they at least had small bar food menu with some good bar food I'd give it 5 stars but the lack of food and the view being nice but not spectacular, this is a solid high 4 stars. read more

Just came here for the first time a few months ago and this place has become one of my favorites! The deck upstairs is a great space to escape some of the noise, especially when there's live music. Speaking of live music, I've been to their Jazz nights on Thursdays as well as their Havana night on Tuesdays. Both are fun and lively with a ton of incredibly talented local musicians!! They often host shows with a pretty cheap cover/ticket price. Know that on show nights it gets pretty crowded and it may take a while for you to get to the bar and order a drink. Regardless of the wait, bartenders are friendly, attentive and efficient. For a more low-key time, try coming earlier in the evening for great vibes and a quieter atmosphere. read more

Delightful atmosphere and fantastic jazz night. Great cocktails as well, I personally ordered the Expresso Martini and it was fantastic. Came for Thursday jazz night and it did not disappoint. The live music perfectly matched the dark and moody vibes of the bar. My friends and I tried 3 different cocktails: the tequila smash, espresso martini, and airmail. The tequila smash and airmail were both good, fruity and balanced but definitely on the stronger side. However, the espresso martini blew me away. It wasn't a typical espresso martini, it had mint added and it made it taste like a perfect winter coffee drink. I would come back specifically for this cocktail because it was that good. Overall will definitely be back for more jazz nights! read more

The bartender was tied for the best part of my experience here (with the rooftop HiBar)! I wanted the gin-based pear drink, but am not a huge fan of gin. We decided that it would still be good with vodka, so I got just that and it was exactly what I was in the mood for. Downstairs was really quiet, but we felt like the rooftop was a mini oasis - super cute and comfortable. And still felt private as more guests came up. Only tips? This is a fun bar that has been rebranded a number of times over the years. It does offer a rooftop bar when it's warm enough and has a limited selection of signature cocktails. My friend and I came in around 6:00 PM on a Friday night. It wasn't busy at all so we more or less had the place to ourselves to chat. The bartender wasn't super attentive but the drinks were fine and I'm not sure if we got there during a happy hour special - but they were insanely cheap. Parking can be tough in this part of town so you're just as well off parking a few streets away or ride sharing. Came here after work with a friend to grab a drink and we had a great time. It wasn't very busy when we arrived but we were greeted immediately by the bartender Joe. He was so nice! He showed us the cocktail menu and told us about the beer on draft and I asked him what drink he thinks I would like and turns out it was a great choice! I loved my drink called the Shatter Box! The downstairs is more dim, clean and nice and then we walked upstairs to the hi bar and it was a rooftop view of downtown/midtown Reno! The weather was great and the seating was nice. It has a great feel to the place! I will definitely be coming here again. According to their Instagram page, they will be having a nightfall boogie night on the rooftop soon that I think would be fun!! read more

I thought I had heard everything but tonight, at Lo-Bar Social, I was told by their bartender, Katie, that I could not longer dance in their establishment. She said it was too distracting. I couldn't beleive my own ears. For me, the most important thing that I have in this life, after almost dying from a blood clot that went into my heart, and having open heart surgery, I have been working very hard, like a second job, at developing and perfecting a new dance form that I have named, Wu Wei. They have a beautiful hardwood dance floor tha I am no longer allowed to use. In most of the clubs that I frequent, I don't even pay a cover charge because of my dancing and here is a place that won't let me dance. How dare they tell that to me. Even the pretentious way in which she said it made me never want to go back again. It saddens me more than anything because I looked forward to testing out my new dance discoveries that I have made during the week. I still really can't believe it. Never in all of my life have I ever been told that I couldn't dance in a club that has a dance floor. I have never used this word but I will now, it's despicable and I will never step foot in that shit hole, ever again read more

Super relaxed atmosphere. Inside isn't much to look at which is totally fine. Sometimes you just want to sit at a dimly lit bar and enjoy a drink! Everything changes when you go upstairs to the rooftop bar. Comfy seating, minimal decoration, there was a table with the fire pit center which was nice!
