So it's a board game place with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, where you sit and play with friends or even strangers, if you're feeling up to it. The owner is AMAZINGLY KIND. I've heard about this place for a while and we finally got around to checking it out and WOW! This place is so fun!!! Half the store has a variety of games you can buy and the other half has tables for you to play games they provide. It's recommended to reserve a table ahead of time. The tables are for groups of 6 people and it's $6/person for 3 hours. When we showed up there were no tables but we sat at the bar and were able to play games there. The bartender was amazing and was able to recommend some games for us and they were very fun! At the bar they have a fun activity where you can roll 2 dice and whatever two numbers it lands on you can pick between those two drinks from the menu and get $1 off. Sorry I can't give this place six stars I came here exclusively to buy some booster packs for Star Wars Unlimited. I was served by Jay who rang up my boosters and provided me with a Russian River IPA called Pliny the Elder. We talked about music and gaming and beer and I cracked over 55 booster/carbonite packs while enjoying my beer. It was an amazing afternoon. What a chill spot! 10/10 Recommend! It is 21+ because it technically is a bar but that's certainly not the main vibe. You can reserve a table for game play with your group (and we brought snacks to enjoy). 98% of people were playing games on the night we came but there were a few people who apparently came just to order a drink and relax at the bar. There was a food truck vender of some sort that took up some of the already limited parking spots, but we were able to find some free parking across the street. read more

Some friends and I decided to check this place out because they have a wide variety of board games to play plus they sell drinks. It is $5 per person for a table from Wednesday to Sunday and free on Mondays and Tuesdays. The drinks are averagely priced, but they have a very limited selection unless you like beer. I wish they would offer more variety of non-alcoholic drinks. There are no food options, but you can get food delivered. There is not much design inside. I do wish it had more lighting (especially at night). All the walls were filled with board games from ceiling to floor. Upon entering, the right side has all the board games you can play, and the left is board games they are selling. I would not recommend buying the games here because they have to sell it at a higher price in order to make profit. A group of my friends tries to get together once a month or so and one of our friends recommended The Glass Die for a game night. We made reservations a few days earlier, which is a must on a Friday night. They have a few smaller tables (6person tables) and one group had reserves multiple tables that were pushed together. The game selection is unmatched, which is so fun, I loved getting to try new games that I've never played before. There is also a section of games that you can purchase. They have a good beer selection, way to keep it local!!! There was a food truck in the parking lot tonight, but I also noticed lots of people who brought in their own food. It basically is a bar for geeks. It means it's a pretty cool place. There's all sorts of new and old games and they're even sorted by the recommended number of players. Find classics like Monopoly but why not find something obscure and expand your interests. There's card games too. As for the bar it's not a bad selection to choose from. Has a lot of local beers and they get different ones coming in and out. A complaint is once they get something good, they'll replace it with something else. The good thing is you get to try a lot and you'll find something else you like too. It's about $6 for a pint. The last time here they had the Pigeon Head Pilsner, good stuff. A bad thing might be parking because there's not a lot of it here. It usually isn't that busy so maybe you can get a close spot to it. My friends have been here before but it was my first time and I'm always down to try new places. ONE STAR, but despite our overall experience with the business, my group was good company and we made the best of it so I added a star. The shop has a VAST selection of gameboards for sale and a small area with tables and wall of gameboards for patrons to use. The games are not organized in any sort of way so we diligently looked through the whole wall. If you'd like to play at one of the tables then it is NOT free. Reservation is required and cost six dollahs per person. My group walked to the bar, and I informed the bartender that it was my first time and was told they don't serve food but we can bring food in. So for that moment I ordered a soda and bags of chips. A friend who's been here before ordered a flight and was informed very arrogantly by the bartender that she's worked at this establishment for a few years and they never served flights... After we played a few rounds we decided to grab something to eat. We picked our next game and left it at our table along with any remaining snacks we had. We left to fetch food and came back within 30 minutes only to find that our reserved table had been cleaned---our next game was put away and all snacks were gone. Went up to the bar to inquire what happened to our table and we were told by the same arrogant bartender "if you're going to be gone for more than 3 minutes then you need to let us know". Uuuummmm... okay... but come on... 3 minutes!!?? That's not even enough time to go to the banyo. Really though? A note at the table informing the patrons of such rule would have been helpful. Suffice to say, we picked another game since we couldn't find the one we chose before we fetched food and then I was able to retrieve a bag of chips but was told I need to pay again for my soda :( We stayed until our alloted time but for me at least, I will never be back. While parking is a bit of a challenge, it was well worth the extra walk. When we got there the array of choices of what game to play is a bit overwhelming. I had no idea that there were so many board games in the world, much less in one place. Add to the atmosphere of tables and games surrounding you, they have a well stocked bar with lots of choices of beer, coffee, and tea. The tables are well maintained and suited for enjoying conversations with friends as well as playing a game or two. The staff was ever so helpful and pleasant. Makes for a fun time. My only quibble is that the games are not subdivided by the type of games, just the number of people who can play. For a few years I drove past this place completely unaware of the gem under the noses of most Renoites. This is one of those circumstances where the phrase, "if you gotta ask you'll never know" comes to mind. This is a shop that you don't realize how special it is until you've been invited. Regardless of any legal classification, I wouldn't call this place bar, nor a even a pub. It's a unique game shop that happens to have a dozen or so beers, cider, and often meadS (mostly local) on tap and a hundreds of games (from hardcore to casual) available for you play at a handful of tables (mostly wood) for rent. They offer some snacks and basic non-alcoholic drinks. But, if you're hungry, there is plenty of midtown food and cocktails within walking distance, or better still DoorDash and keep rolling. read more

Board games are available to play for free around the room. They are separated nicely by number of recommended players, which makes it easy to distinguish what your party is able to actually play. There were so many that I had never heard of that I want to try, and realized that reading rules is an integral part so time must be made if you want to commit to those games. Everyone hanging out here was having a good time. I saw so many friendly groups inviting others to join them in games, and even someone's dog roaming around sparking joy in the space. What a cool spot to have in Reno! Tucked away from the main strip of Midtown, The Glass Die is only a short walk away and is hidden in plain sight. This is a board game bar and the website mentions having over 900 games to choose from! You can definitely tell there are the regular gamers and then those of us that are there for the first time. They highly recommend reservations which can be made online. The table reservation is for a 3 hour time slot. Each guest must pay a $6 table fee in order to play. If people did not buy drinks at the bar and only came to play games, this place would not make any money. So I think the table fee per person makes sense! They also have an option for a monthly club and a yearly club you can join to pay discounted fees if you plan to come here often. Half the room has games that are available for purchase, the other half of the room has games you can play in-house. The games are very well organized by number of players, level of difficulty, and amount of time it takes to complete the game. I have played a lot of board games in my lifetime but this place made me feel like I had just entered a whole new world of games because I barely saw any that I recognized! It was so fun to grab new games that looked interesting and figure out how to play them with friends. Plus they have a bar with several local beers on tap. They allow you to bring your own food in, so we brought in some pizzas and cupcakes to celebrate our friend's birthday! This is an awesome spot and a true hidden gem in Midtown. read more

It's been a couple years since I've visited the Glass Die. It was a snowy & icy Sunday morning, we'd made 12:00 noon reservations to play games for a couple hours. Due to the weather, we half expected them to be open late, but to no avail, they were open & greeted us cheerfully. Upon entering, it's clean and welcoming. There is a retail section of the shop with board games & supplies to purchase - I didn't spend much time shopping, but it was pretty good in size. Lots of selections available! They were out of Cold Brew, so we settled on hot tea. $6/person for unlimited tea - no complaints there. They allowed us to change the tea flavors throughout our visit also. Both teas that we tried were fresh and delicious. They were very attentive to making sure we were stocked up on cream and sugar and hot tea refills. In addition to teas, they serve beers on tap, meads, and ciders. Along with coffee and snacks. Their selection of games is huge! It's sorted around the room by # of players. Be aware, just because a game is in the 3-4-5-6 player section, doesn't mean it doesn't also accommodate 2 players. the games are nicely stacked and easy to read. Because boxes are different sizes and shapes, i couldn't imagine any other way to sort them - they've done a pretty good job. It was $6 per player to play at a table, or free if we'd sat at the bar. Definitely a cute little place that caters to a certain demographic for board games (think D&D, rpg games) but there are some other "mainstream" games available to play like Uno and Cards Against Humanity. They have a nice variety of beers and I first noticed the beautiful wood tables they had. Friendly service as well. I think I saw some packaged snacks you could purchase but you can buy your own food to bring here as well. I really liked how they have the game inventory posted online and signs for the games to indicate the level of difficulty and players. Very rude staff. My boyfriend and I went and he realized he forgot his wallet at home. The policy is you have to have id on you, no issue we thought we could run down the street and go grab it from our house. But the bartender, black hair with silver framed glasses was so incredibly rude to him when we were nothing but nice to her when he released he had left it at home it turned us off to the whole experience. I understand enforcing policy but there's polite ways to do it and then there are unprofessional and demeaning. The Bartender was the latter I'm afraid. Just such a cool concept. This is easily becoming one of my favorite places to catch up with friends and stir up some friendly competition. They have so many games, a lot of them somewhat obscure, so you can keep entertained for hours. I recommend trying out some new games but also know that some may take some time. We played a cooperative game and the fact that nobody won was so unsatisfying but it will bring us back to try to beat it. They have quite a few big tables in there of varying size. One thing that I love and hate is they are constantly rotating out their beers. This is great because you get to try new things and they feature a lot of local breweries which I am a huge fan of. There was a huge selection of games, and it was super helpful that they were categorized based on the size of your party. This may just be my new favorite bar in town. I have been hearing great things about Glass Die for a while but haven't made it in until last evening when we came for a small birthday party. We arrived about 5pm which was the perfect time, because there were only a few patrons there so we were able to snag a large table. Btw the tables are gorgeous raw edged wood slabs. We ordered a few beers from their menu of beers and ciders, mostly local varieties, and Hamms, as others arrived tried to figure out a good party type game. We were having trouble figuring one out as none of us in our group are avid gamers. My friend asked the owner who was working bar for some help, he came over and suggested a few games for us which we really appreciated. One of the games he suggested, Someone Has Died, we ended up playing for like 4 hours it was so much fun! After wrapping up Someone Has Dies for the nth time at the end of the night, we switched to telestrations, which is always ridiculous fun especially after you've finished a couple pitchers of Hamms (only $9!). Toward the middle of the evening, we picked up a pizza from nearby Noble Pie--outside food is allowed as they do not sell any food here. They did have a taco truck setup outside the bar as well. Looking around the room, there was such a great mix of folks here, some party groups, some hardcore gamers who set up shop with their own gear, and also a few furry companions roaming about! It was packed by 8pm and was pretty boisterous. People were waiting for tables to open to play their various game choices. Obviously the place to be on a Friday evening!
