Macaroni and cheese - so rich!
    Karen D.

We Lucked out and came during happy hour that we didn't know about so almost everything was half off including wine and beer! The bill was half what it could have been - very happy about that. Brasserie st James is located in a super old building and has so much history and the brick walls really help with the vibe. The food was really good can't complain about any dish! My fave was probably the cauliflower kuz of the sauce, and the Mac n cheese was very rich and yum. We had all this good plus 4 drinks and it all totaled to $107 kuz of the happy hour - wow!

Brasserie is an absolute delight. The cocktails are fantastic--creative, well-balanced, and clearly made with care--and the appetizers are just as impressive. Perfect for sharing or turning into a full evening of small plates. The service is excellent: attentive, friendly, and welcoming without being overbearing. Add in the great ambiance and you've got a spot that feels both fun and elevated. To top it off, the Valentine's Day décor was adorable and thoughtful, including a table set up where you could make your own Valentines. It added such a charming, personal touch and really set the mood. Brasserie nails the experience from start to finish--highly recommend for a night out. Get the mussels and shrimp and fish and chips. A fave!!

This place is always a nice spot since they have indoor and outdoor seating. It was LOUD in there though but we had a 5 o clock reservation on a Saturday night so that's pretty par for the course. The service was just okay. The food took a really long time and the server who dropped off our food was yelling our orders out since she didn't know who got what but not in a nice way. The food was great but a bit too expensive but that's Midtown for you I guess. I always enjoy the food here but it's not really a type of place I go out of my way to visit. My hubby got the chicken gyro and he said it was just okay, the chicken was dry. I got the grilled fish tacos and they were excellent. We also got a side salad which was fine, pretty hard to mess up a salad. Overall, the experience was just okay.

Bri was our wonderful server. She greeted us immediately as we were seated with menus and drink orders taken. We decided on cranberry mimosas. Happy Hour is 2-6 Monday through Thursday. We ordered from the starter menu half off during Happy Hour. We decided on tres tacos, chosing carnitas, and the poutine. So good!! Bri constantly checked on us, refreshing our drinks and chatting with us. Great place. I want to try more menu items so I will definitely return. Frequently!

This is an easy brunch place for anybody who starts the day a little later. The brunch goes until 3pm. They only have a few items available from the breakfast menu but typically you can order from the regular menu also. Last time we had amazing service even when accidentally showed up with a large group. They accommodated us quickly and keep the drinks flowing. The only slight issue is that we did not realize there would be a service charge for the large group.

This spot is quickly becoming my go-to for lunch dates with the girls. Came in on a Friday around 11:30am. Main dining room was buzzing with large groups, but we got seated in a cozy booth right away. Weird quirk: the bar area was completely empty, but only "Prospectors Club" members can sit there. Totally odd on a busy Friday! Service was a bit slow getting drinks, but the food more than made up for it. Lobster roll? Spot on. Cajun fries with spicy ketchup and aioli? Never disappoint. Brasserie Burger? Packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. Already plotting my first brunch visit! Drinks were solid. Grabbed a beer flight--wish they had more local and lighter options. Cherry Pistola? Fire. Smoky, rich, dangerously good. Heads up: parking can be tricky during lunch, but there are a few street and lot options. Brasserie = delicious food, fun vibes, and always a good time.

We stopped into Brasserie St. James for a late lunch/early dinner and I'm super happy we did! This spot nails the aesthetic and the vibe- it's warm, inviting and stylish without trying too hard. I was genuinely impressed when I opened the menu and saw all the GF, DF, and V options. A total dream menu for me! It's rare to find a place that offers variety while still feeling creative and delicious. To start, I ordered an espresso martini while my hubs went with an ice-cold beer. The martini arrived without any espresso flavor at all, so I took a tiny sip and sent it back. (If you're a connoisseur like myself, skip the espresso martini). Our server handled it gracefully. I switched to a Cadillac Margarita, which was very tasty. I ordered : The Brasserie Burger on a gluten-free bun with vegan cheese and mustard -simply delish! Hubs ordered: The Chicken Supreme Nachos, and he really enjoyed his meal as well. I absolutely have to shout out Cat, our server! She was attentive, friendly, and really made the visit great from start to finish. Overall, Brasserie St. James delivered in vibe, food, drinks and service. Definitely glad we stopped in and we'll absolutely be back!

Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly empty. Grabbed some starters to share and had a couple of drinks. The Saint James is no longer a brewery, so their beer selection is more limited. Still enough choices to please everyone.

Took my friend Cora there for her birthday. The first time we've ever been there and Bri Our waitress was awesome. We decided to try that poutine with pork gravy and we had Carnita tacos and we had cranberry mimosas. Everything was served in a timely matter and all so very good. We will definitely be going back there because there were a lot of things on the menu that we want to try and the ambience at this restaurant really really nice.

Love this place! Great ambiance with the lights and fireplace. We sat at the bar and had great, fast service. The food did not disappoint and large portion size. They were getting ready to open the outside seating for Spring and I'm excited to check it out. Outside is dog friendly. Great quality and highly recommended place!

It's been about a year since we've been here and a lot has since changed. First off I would like to say our waitress was very kind and sweet and attentive and we appreciated her immensely. The bone marrow canoes have not changed and are always the Star of our meal and has kept us coming back. For our meal we ordered the Gordo burger and Caesar salad. The burger we received was the plain burger with arugula not a burger with caramelized onions, mushrooms and cheese. It's was fairly dry and unimpressive but that could be biased based on the fact that we had ordered a 'messier' burger. The Caesar salad was lacking dressing and looked like the end clippings of a head of lettuce with fried onions and cherry tomatoes on top. The dressing itself when we did get some was fairly generic and was closer to ranch than a good Cesar dressing. The portions were hearty but presentation was lacking. They used to brew their own beer here but it seems that have swapped that out for a wine wall? Which is different but not necessarily a negative. Overall I was rather disappointed with our meal this time around and found it lacking the flavor, presentation, and charm of a place we once loved immensely. I will return again as I believe sometimes things can just be off on any given night and we used to love coming here but I don't think I've seen such a 180 from a spot we used to frequent.

Very nice atmosphere, although they said they have the ability to play music, they never turned it on. Very strange menu for a brasserie, from bone marrow with tomato jam to Argentinian blood sausage and chorizo, to gyros with marinaded chicken or falafel but no lamb. Seems like quite a hodge pod mix. We decided to just order apps had portobello fries with Cajun spice and garlic aoile, French onion soup and crab & artichoke dip. Service was good. Food was very good. I think the new owners need time to sharpen the French brassiere focus but kitchen seems to deliver.

    Bottomless mimosa
    Lacey H.

The buffet selection is small but had a variety. We went in November so it was more Thanksgiving options. Not sure if it changed. I chose the bottomless mimosa. That's a lot of champagne for just one person and wasn't cheap. I asked if could take home and they said no. When questioned they said i could take but with no cork.

My rant..I'm not from the area so I had NO idea what this place was when I walked by. It looked cute so my husband, myself and child walked up the steps and they sat outside while I went to check it out and see if this was a bar/club/ restaurant. I walked inside and instantly got the death glare from an employee. I instantly said omg I take it this place isn't kid friendly.. he rudely said no. I wanted to clarify and confirm even outside ? He said no. I apologized and they left but the vibe and way he said it was definitely off putting. My sister and I decided to stay for a drink while my husband/child went to walk around. Usually I don't give bad costumer service a chance.. but I realllllllly wanted a drink that one of those others customers were drinking. If this place had better costumer service. It would be a 5

We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday. The joint was nearly empty aside from a couple at the bar. Plenty of seating for our large group in the large, comfy couches. A fun and unique way to sort cocktails. They also have a selection of beer on draft and wine. The drinks can also be made into mocktails- a win for our group since we had a few non-drinkers. The 1859 mocktail was great. Perfectly sweet with a small hit of miso flavor from the miso honey. Probably even better and more balanced with the whiskey! Others in my group enjoyed working their way through the many light, dark, and sour beers on tap. 1864 offers a classic, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to get a cocktail. A wonderful magic show inside the Grand Sierra Hotel & Casino…read more I was looking for something to do without leaving the hotel for a major conference. I saw that they were advertising this show...and I like a good magic show. It did not disappoint. The sleight of hand and on-stage demonstrations were incredible. I was still banging my head of how they did it or maybe it was the cocktail at the bar that was playing tricks on my mind. As a guest of the hotel, I had a 20% coupon and promptly used it at the ticket office, though I think I should have picked my seat better. Nonetheless, I was in the second row and I was able to get a good look of the magic up close. If you arrive early, you can hang out for Happy Hour, they had some unique drinks including the local standby beers and cocktails...and mocktails for those attending the all-ages show. After happy hour ended a bud light and high noon was $18. I can't believe they turned the old movie theater into a magic show theater. It was fun in the bar prior to the doors opening they have a magical experience for adults and kids to set the mood for the evening. Tracy the bartender was awesome! She also works at Blitz during the day. She has the kindest soul and such a people person! It was like I had known her for years. They have a box office where you can purchase tickets. Very hard to hear the gal! They definitely need a microphone to speak to each other. If you think you're going to save a few extra dollars on those service fees - you may have to think twice, just purchase on line. It's much easier. Also, they have a snack bar with fresh popped popcorn $9 -$13 and huge pretzels $14. Chase Hasty and his wife have traveled around the world to over 25 countries sharing their magical talent and ballet dancing skills. My favorite part of the show was when Chase brought out a locked box and Hoisted the box with a rope up to the ceiling and told this guy to watch the box. Later in the show they opened the box, it was a pretty impressive trick!!! One not to be forgotten!! It's a small production but well thought out with couple extra dancers and costumes changes. I love that Chase, picks people out of the audience to help with the show. Maddox was a return kid that had been practicing his magic and Chase let him perform in front of the audience and what is that called "That's Magic!!!" It's nice the performers will met you afterwards in the hallway to have pictures and ask questions. It's a great family night or you can come to the later show at 9pm for a little more risky nocturnal show. I'll have to save that one for another time!
