Cubano: 8/10 Fries: 9/10 Tortilla Chips: 4/10 Nachos: 6/10 Brownie: 7/10 The cubano was a bit too salty for my liking. It was due to the seasoning. However, it was packed with a variety of flavors. It wasn't dry and loose, which is what I have encountered at a few other places. All in all, there was so much in it that it was difficult to evaluate what I was eating, which is a good thing. It means I'll have it again :). It functioned as a whole rather than as separated ingredients to give a complex flavor profile, which I appreciated. The fries were seasoned beautifully. Very savory. I enjoyed them. Cooked wonderfully as well. The tortilla chips in the nachos.. I don't know if they were made there or not, but they gave the impression of being store-bought. The quality was not great. The nachos themselves... plenty of ingredients that you can mix together, but the ingredients weren't like a complete package. They were like a pile of separate things. I expect a well-balanced mixture of ingredients. The layer of queso was below while the avocado was clumped up at the top. The ingredients separately were quite bland. I wouldn't have this again. This is my first trip back to the Brasserie under new ownership. My wife and I came in on a Thursday evening for a late dinner. It was still pretty crowded which was nice to see, so we grabbed a spot at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick to serve us. We ordered some draft beers, they had a good selection available. We then ordered the Crab and Artichoke skillet as an appetizer, and the Stuffed Avocado salad and Fish and Chips as our entrees. The skillet came out first but shortly after we received our entrees. That was actually a good thing because they were a good compliment to eat all together. It was more than enough food for 2 people and everything was delicious. The stuffed Avocado salad was interesting and it was delicious. The fish and chips were good, the fish was more of a tender which was actually nice because it wasn't greasy. Not sure I would order it again because there are so many other good options on the menu, but it was good. The artichoke and Crab skillet was excellent as well. So 10+ years have gone by and I think I really stay with my review from 2015. I was genuinely impressed when I opened the menu and saw all the GF, DF, and V options. A total dream menu for me! It's rare to find a place that offers variety while still feeling creative and delicious. To start, I ordered an espresso martini while my hubs went with an ice-cold beer. The martini arrived without any espresso flavor at all, so I took a tiny sip and sent it back. (If you're a connoisseur like myself, skip the espresso martini). Our server handled it gracefully. It's been about a year since we've been here and a lot has since changed. First off I would like to say our waitress was very kind and sweet and attentive and we appreciated her immensely. The bone marrow canoes have not changed and are always the Star of our meal and has kept us coming back. For our meal we ordered the Gordo burger and Caesar salad. The burger we received was the plain burger with arugula not a burger with caramelized onions, mushrooms and cheese. It's was fairly dry and unimpressive but that could be biased based on the fact that we had ordered a 'messier' burger. The Caesar salad was lacking dressing and looked like the end clippings of a head of lettuce with fried onions and cherry tomatoes on top. The dressing itself when we did get some was fairly generic and was closer to ranch than a good Cesar dressing. The portions were hearty but presentation was lacking. They used to brew their own beer here but it seems that have swapped that out for a wine wall? Which is different but not necessarily a negative. Overall I was rather disappointed with our meal this time around and found it lacking the flavor, presentation, and charm of a place we once loved immensely. It has a sort of English pub feel - dark wood and interior but friendly staff and comfy booths for seating. We started with the pretzel appetizer - yum! I could drink the beer cheese sauce that comes with it. For entrees we enjoyed the guanciale pasta, burger, porchetta sandwich and chicken sandwich. All were very tasty - though I wasn't a fan of the horseradish dip served with my fries - eek! All of the meat was juicy and tender and all food felt fresh and prepared with care. We were here for dinner on Friday at about 6:30 p.m. and were surprised to find the place pretty empty. Eventually, more people started to come in, which warmed-up the ambiance of the restaurant. I love the rustic vibe and think it's great that it is recognized as a Reno historic treasure. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. She seemed concerned about my bad experience and promised that they do care and want a chance to show that a bad day doesn't reflect all they have to offer. This time with my husband who hadn't been here since the new owners took over. He had heard bad things about this place on Reddit. We were both pleasantly surprised at the difference. I'm confused. I've been here three Sundays in a row and the first two we were told they had bottomless mimosas and were charged to reflect this. Today, we were charged $30 per bottle even though we told the waitress we were doing the bottomless mimosas. She never told us it wasn't bottomless, she had the chance to correct us when we ordered it. The food was good but we were led to believe they had bottomless mimosas under the new ownership. I'm a bit disillusioned cause I don't know where the disconnect is and that's a bummer. The bottle you're getting is a $5-$10 a bottle. We have been to the Brasserie many times for dinner but this was our first visit for lunch. I would have to agree with other posters who have written that both the service and food quality are not as good as they have been over the years. Friday for lunch. Six or eight people at the bar and 2-3 other tables in various stages of lunch (tables outside as well?). It took a good 20 minutes to be served our drink orders (glass of wine and a draft beer) and then another 20+ minutes to receive our meals. One server, who was not in any rush and, I'm guessing, an understaffed kitchen. The Fish/Shrimp/Chips were not as I remembered them. Shrimp good, but batter coating was damp; fish was dry (not sure of the type, but not cod) with a slightly crunchier coating. Fries were as excellent as always. Lobster roll was a small portion of really shredded lobster, heavy on the mayo in an oversized club roll. Definitely the wrong proportion of filling to bread. Not appetizing enough for pics.
