This is one of my favorite spots in town. They have the BEST wings and burgers. There is a nice section of beers, including a dark beer year round. I travel a lot for work and am always looking for go-to places to relax at the end of the day in a place where I can feel safe going by myself. Unfortunately, that usually means a chain. But there are occasionally great little local joints like this, where the wings are hot, the beer is cold, and everyone is normal. Glad to know the management supports its staff and that staff don't have to leave their personal boundaries at the door when they come to work. We stopped in and ate here for the first time today. I had a mushroom Swiss, and it had to be one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The kids loved their hot dogs, the grilled cheese my other daughter got was also really good. Kids meal also has a salad option which my kids took advantage of. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, which he also liked. Absolute only criticism I could give, if I was super nitpicking, was I wish the cans of beer were a little colder. Great little hole-in-the-wall! Beer glasses were cold., the taps were a little rough, but their canned beer/cider collection made up for it. Though the pulled pork sandwich was a little greasy, it was tangy, delicious and the burnt ends really made it. And I loved that the coleslaw had minimal dressing. It added a great, fresh crunch. While winding up our evening in Lockhart we took a stroll around the square and came across a small place called Load off Fanny's. We went in looking to get a couple of beers and were pleasantly surprised. They had a great selection of draft beers. The interior was nicely decorated and they had a patio out back. We had some good conversation with the staff and co-owner. While we didn't order food since we had filled up on BBQ earlier that evening the food that I saw coming out looked great. The portabella sandwich was so so but the sweet potato chips were burned and when the replacement was brought it was barely eatable. Also the water we were served tasted moldy. After contemplating all night whether or not I would leave my review I decided I should. I work in customer service and often that can make or break a business. I give it one star because of the terrible,awkward service. We went in for the first time (new to Lockhart excited about finding a good local restaurant where we could be regulars). But I was highly dissatisfied with the way we were spoken to, first of all, we were one of two parties that just walked in, the waitress approached and asked what we wanted to drink. I said oh "I think we're ready to order," she says with a smart ass attitude, can I get you some drinks first? I said nicely ,no I think we'll just order, and and she says are you taking it to go? I said no, are you about to close? (It was 7 pm) she said no we're open til 10 but I just don't understand why you don't want anything to drink? Um do I have to actually give a reason? I'm not thirsty. I just drank 20 oz of a Diet Coke. I'm hungry. It was embarrassing. She was very Awkward and rude. Sadly, fir this reason I can't go back (and did I mention I just moved to this cute, quaint little town excited and happy to a part of this nice, cozy community) unless I order take out which could be possible because the food was good and the prices were great but wait. No. I had an awful experience that left me sad and disappointed. And the customer service in fact, is a deal breaker here. So if YOU want inexpensive, good food, topped off with horrible service then go here. Finally Lockhart has a good little restaurant. Went in on Sunday night not knowing what we were getting into. Some more signage out front would be great stating your not a bar but a restaurant that just happens to have beers. The burgers are GREAT! Had the cream cheese jalapeño burger . I've lived in Lockhart for more than 8 years now and Fanny's has been such a nice addition. One of the best places to grab a bite and a beer (or three) in Lockhart. Between me and the family, we've had at least one of everything on the menu and it's all been great. For me, it's hard to beat the $9 Fanny's burger along with a draft of your choice. Always a good selection of beer including Guinness. My son really enjoys the wings - he's probably there twice a week for the wings. Nice, little outdoor area when the weather's good (or you don't mind sweating your arse off). Live music outside pretty regularly. Good service, food and drink that doesn't break the bank. read more
