Trying to decide if this was just at or under A-ok; food was good. About 8pm on a Monday I really wanted a burger with a fried egg on top. Didn't have patience for Crafthouse's service pace or downtown parking. Chef here's been flexible and fun, and I knew there was a spacious lot and likely a quiet atmosphere. When I arrived, the bar seating was nearly full plus a table of perhaps five. Country music played, I took a booth in the back. My favorite steak is gone from their re-done menu, and it was too busy for Chef to pop out and chat, if he still works here. They were out of real eggs, so I got a cheeseburger and a side of broccoli. When the waitress asked if I wanted bacon since I couldn't have the egg, I said sure. My Lynchburg lemonade was heavy on the lemon but good with the liquor, and that burger was undisputedly enormous. The broccoli was in good condition and generous. A request for soda was forgotten but rectified. Different employee brought the bill, which (1) did not reflect my 10% discount for check-in (I'd showed my waitress; she hit the button on my phone to accept it) and (2) while the menu says add bacon for $.50, I was charged $2.50. It was a big meal and I thought they might be a little shorthanded, so I didn't feel it worth the fuss. Just saying you should check your tab. This was the best cheeseburger we have had in town. We cannot wait to try the other items on their menu. Don't overlook this restaurant located at the Holiday Inn. My wife and I started out with the sliders and pub chips. The sliders were small enough that two people could split them, but large enough to be satisfying. The pub chips were great: thick cut, seasoned, but also crispy and flavorful. The steak was also quite good, as was the rice and the broccoli, although there could have been a bit more broccoli. All told, good, above average food, but the service, particularly the speed of the drinks' arrival, was a bit slow. read more

Based on the good reviews, we decided not to venture out of the Holiday Inn and just go downstairs. It was about 7 on a Saturday. No one was at the hostess stand to greet us. That was the first clue. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, sitting quietly under the glaring lights. That was the second clue. We waited a bit, then went to the front desk to see if the restaurant was closed. It wasn't, and the front desk clerk went back to the kitchen to let them know we were there. Eventually, our server appeared to provide us with abbreviated menus and take our drink orders. My husband asked for a Coke and was told it was flat. In fact, no beverages had carbonation; there was "something wrong with the machine." I asked for sweetened iced tea, and was directed to the sweetener on the table. Our two unsweetened iced teas arrived, and sat on the naked tabletop, next to the sweetener, but not near anything to stir with. We looked around expectantly for several minutes, but our waiter had evaporated. Third clue. And the point where we should have walked out. Ten minutes later, our food arrived. My husband's chicken fried chicken looked good, on a large plate with a heap of mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. My chicken finger basket arrived on a plate, and was just tenders and fries, without the Texas Toast and gravy listed on the menu. I asked about gravy, and our waiter said he would go check. I decided to let the Texas Toast go. We sat, as our food got cold, for more than five minutes before the waiter emerged from the kitchen with a bowl of gravy. He then offered my husband flatware rolled in a napkin. My expectant look prompted him to ask if I wanted silverware too. I said I would like a napkin. I got a short stack of bar napkins. Now I know the answer to "How many tiny bar napkins does it take to cover my lap?" Four. The answer is four. My food was actually pretty tasty, for prepackaged frozen stuff. It would have been even better if it had been hot. My husband's chicken fried chicken ended up being three chicken tenders, doused in gravy. The mashed potatoes, also doused in gravy, were inedible. I'm not sure how that can happen, but I would guess they were a leftover baked potato that had spent too long in the warmer and then was mashed lackadaisically with a fork. It's sad when the high point of the meal is the frozen veggie medley piled off to the side. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but I have a feeling that waiter provides crappy service every time. I'm curious how this place has so many good reviews. read more

We are at this for breakfast two times both were equally frustrating. The burrito with egg was the only reason I give 2 stars. And the springs breakfast with fried eggs had good eggs. That's the best I can tell you. The first day they didn't have coffee, and when requested fruit the served canned pineapple chunks. On day two they were out of pancakes. There was coffee but don't expect to like it. Service was strange. Save yourself $10 and just go to McDonald's. read more

Just be aware, this is a hotel restaurant and serves typical hotel breakfast items (like powdered eggs). After reading Yelp reviews, we decided to go there (after all, they offered a Groupon discount.) When we pulled up and realized it was inside a hotel, we were tempted to leave, but I had already purchased the Groupon so, we decided to give it a try. I went for dinner after visiting my father in the hospital nearby. It was a slightly strange experience as we were the only patrons and the host/only waiter attempted to take my coffee from me at the door citing TABC laws. Luckily a nice woman appeared from the back and sorted this out. She seemed to be the only one there with restaurant experience. I ordered the salmon with broccoli and rice pilaf. My father's fiance ordered the Monterrey chicken with a side salad and sauteed squash. Squash is not a side on the menu, but my father's fiance has a lot of food intolerances and they were nice enough to accommodate her. The salmon was dry, bland, and unevenly cooked. The sauce clung to it forming a sort of goop. Half of it had sort of a crust with grill marks. This maybe would have been alright if they left the skin on, but this was not the case. The broccoli was old, undercooked, and obviously precut days ago as the ends of each piece were stained black and grey (not very appetizing). The rice pilaf was actually pretty good. My father's fiance's meal was much much better. The chicken was moist and packed with flavor. The squash was perfection. The side salad was pretty standard. After our meal was served, the woman from BOH came to say that they had forgotten an ingredient on the chicken dish and check how our meals were. We hadn't noticed the missing ingredient. I didn't feel like nitpicking about my food as I was anxious to return to the hospital. Judging from the other reviews, this may be more of a breakfast place and bar than honest to god restaurant, but I took a chance. The Yelp coupon was nice. Overall the experience was very hit and miss sprinkled with interesting customer service experiences. read more

I ordered the breakfast sliders that came with cheese, eggs & each one with either bacon, ham or sausage & a side of breakfast potatoes. Each were delicious!!! Great food!!! We live down the street, and eat out a lot, and love trying new places. This spot skipped our radar since it's tucked away in a Holiday Inn, but we headed out for Sunday dinner. Ordered the Garden Flatbread for an app, and Garden Penne, Veggie Sandwich, and the Sirloin with bleu cheese and gravy, which was nicely upgraded to a Ribeye by the Chief who came out to ask. The flatbread took a while, but was very understood, it was fresh, savory and drizzled in balsamic! We promptly ordered another! (Good for 2-4, the 3 of us didn't care...) Our food took its sweet time too, but once again, was completely worth it! Pasta was large with pesto and filled with a variety of roasted veggies! Sand which was fantastic with roasted zucchini and squash and filling! Steak was perfect temp, he loved the combo of bleu and gravy, second flatbread was a challenge but defeated. Dined here recently and was impressed. Clean, contemporary decor was very welcoming. Ordered the grilled sirloin salad and it was great. While we were ordering, the manager, Kelly, stopped by our table and suggested I try her favorite, the jalapeno ranch dressing on my salad and had our server bring me a taste. What a treat. Great suggestion. We'll be back. Would have given a fifth star if the lighting had been a bit lower. Lots of bright light is great at breakfast, but for dinner and drinks I prefer it a bit dimmer.
