When we had an offer accepted, one condition was that we close in three weeks. In addition to our original investment of $70,000 plus, Walnut Street Finance demanded an additional payment of $337,450. Their attorney informed us if we did not provide the additional $337,450, Walnut Street Finance, LLC would proceed with foreclosure. Upon receiving the cure letter; Walnut Finance refused to communicate with us and we could only talk with their attorney. They then sent us a bill for $3,856 in attorney fees. Their attorney would not respond to us for 15 days. This delayed our project for one month and it was clear, Walnut Street Finance didn't care. Walnut Street Finance continued to charge us interest while delaying our project. To make matters worse, the head of the company is a builder. I would think a builder would be keenly aware of COVID-19 delays and weather delays. We got through it, and successfully sold our property but with no thanks to Walnut Street Finance. If you have other choices for hard money lenders, run, don't walk, avoid them at all costs.
