They explained it as an extra layer that sits on top of my auto and renters. So, once those limits are used up, the umbrella kicks in and gives another $1M (or more) of protection. And it was way more affordable than I assumed it would be. It just made sense. I'm working hard to build savings and assets -- the last thing I'd want is one bad accident putting that at risk. In 2023 tax, he failed to put my wife's group prepaid state tax as credit, we paid $91000 more tax. I found the problems, informed him, asked him to do amend tax returns, he refused to do so. I hired an accountant to do the amend tax returns for the refund. He confirmed that Sonny missed both above.

I'm of course waiting for my refund and hoping it comes through. Regarding the owner's comments about submitting it close to deadline. I submitted my documents weeks in advance (and ahead of their quoted deadline date for me to provide). I don't appreciate the implication that I submitted my documents late when simple email records can verify I submitted ahead of their deadline. Just say you were busy this year, had to deal with some staff shortages, what I don't appreciate is trying to pass it back on to me.
