Since no one in Customer Service picks up the phone, here it is: Attention customer Service: Store: 396 St Clair Ave West Toronto. I just shopped at this location. The cashier rounded up my bill for charity without asking me. I brought this to her attention, she didn't apologize. In complete silence she opened the cashier drawer to give me a refund, which I refused. The issue is not the rounding up amount The issue is that she had the AUDACITY to add a donation to my bill up WITHOUT asking me and there was no acknowledgment of the audacity and or apology. I am not impressed with her behaviour. read more

I pass here occasionally and always seem to have no choice but to shop for crucial last-minute items. This is, without a doubt, thE worst Loblaws in terms of service+variety. Looked for dry Chinese noodles today. Forget about it! Their "ethnic aisle" is a joke. I guess I'm going to feed hubby Italian pasta with soya sauce, oyster sauce and all the accoutrements. People were getting very testy in line. One woman waited for half an hour! This place has tons of processed food, expensive prices, lots of bad attitude and not a whole lot more. read more

New to the area, I was looking for a place to do my primary grocery shopping - ideally one in walking distance. I decided to take a pretty long walk (long for me at least) of 15 minutes. After all, from the outside, this Loblaws looks huge. It must have everything I need, right? It wasn't worth the walk. I did not find the location clean or at all inviting. The former is necessary for me to want to shop for food. There was debris on the floor and it was only early afternoon on a Tuesday. It was also quite busy. (They do have self checkout.) It doesn't compare to the downtown core Loblaws on Queen, at which I have shopped before and enjoyed, despite its distance to me when downtown. I came out of this Loblaws with some Evian that was on sale and that was only because I didn't want it to be a completely wasted trip. Will not be back. Would take the higher prices of the Longo's at Imperial Plaza any day. Would drive to another Loblaws to do a shopping spree instead of going here again. read more

This is our go-to grocery store as it is super close to our place. Yes, it may not be as inexpensive as No Frills but I don't mind paying more for better selection, added services, and what I perceive to be better grocery options. I like that I can find organic options and also a wide variety of various foodstuffs. Not to mention I signed up for their PC points app and last visit got $20 of free groceries - not too shabby! read more

Bought clearance ground beef, which was to be consumed on the same day. My wife was mixing the meat, when she got itchy hands. It progressively got worse, and when she complained about it on social media, those clowns running loblaws twitter sent a message offering her $25 whole dollars!! We were naive enough to believe the expiry date of the beef, and now my wife's hands look reptilian, and I have to deal with her crying, and I can't do SHIT about it, and it really pisses me off. Thanks a lot loblaws! Keep pinching pennies by selling ever piece of putrid meat and produce to unsuspecting people. Imagine how embarrassing it must be for me, a proud Canadian, who convinced his wife to leave the Philippines, where she never had a problem with meats and produce, to now being paranoid to touch meat in our clean, first world country. This Loblaws is okay... except that the deli counter needs a take-a-number machine. One of the things I hate most in life is when people cut me in line and for some reason they feel like it's fine to do that at this deli counter. Of course I always say something, and of course the line-cutter always turns around and glares like I'M the dick. No. Stop cutting the line. Otherwise, this Loblaws is the same as all of the rest of them (but the parking lot and deli are worse). read more

This Loblaws in on my way home from work. I usually shop at No Frills but I stop in at this store once a month or so because they have different things and more variety than No Frills that I stock up on. The prices are way higher than No Frills but I like that I don't have to pay for the shopping carts and that the cashier bags my groceries ... so it's worth paying the extra every once in a while. read more

Me and this Loblaw's are pretty decent acquaintances - we don't hang out much, but we get along just fine when we do. He's a solid guy. As far as I can tell, it's a pretty run-of-the-mill Loblaws, and has everything you'd expect of it product/service-wise - fresh, frozen, deli, bakery etc etc. (Plus the PC Financial booth downstairs). It's pretty big, but is laid out reasonably well and apart from the produce section it's easy to navigate with a cart; the placement of some products can be hard to find at times if they're not easily categorised, though. Produce is okay - not spectacular or cheap, or a huge variety, but you can get the staples you need without breaking the bank too badly. They've a decent selection of vegetarian/vegan products and health/alternative foods section too. There's an odd mix of specialty Asian/Indian grocery products, and a large kosher aisle. Sales and specials can be a bit random, but are often good offers. Bonus points for a coffee/chocolate shop, smallish LCBO, news stand, & dry cleaners downstairs, and the Joe Fresh next door! I'm not the type who needs a grand amount of food, or who usually does all her shopping in one place, but as a solo person I can get by with the help of this friend. read more

There was a staff member less than 3 feet away and I said, " can you please call for a mop" and they replied, "no i don't mop floors" and walked away.......are you kidding me??? read more

I only go here when I absolutely have to. While it's a big Loblaws, with handy access to the subway, the produce section is horrible. I went by last weekend to pick up some raspberries and they were SWARMING with fruit flies. Yes, I understand that you can't help but have fruit flies around produce.. but this is a regular occurrence at this place. It was gross. I have also found pepperoni sticks a few weeks after the expiry date on the shelves. That was a year ago, so maybe things have changed, or it was just a fluke. It's undergoing some renovations - looks to me like it will look a bit like the Maple Leaf Gardens Loblaws downtown. Hopefully their quality will also go up. read more

This is a big big rebranded Loblaws in a very central location. Loblaws is a decent chain, if a bit on the pricey side. The house brands like Blue Label are usually edible. Bought a frozen Lasagna last time I was here. Lineup was a bit horrendous but not as bad as the Metro up at Yonge and Eglinton. read more

You pay a little bit more, but the selection is so good you don't care. Selection is similar to Loblaws stores elsewhere, with perhaps more focus on food and less on housewares than the huge places in the suburbs. My local greengrocers are a little better for fruit & vegetables, but Loblaws does pretty well, and it's very convenient. The florist downstairs is particularly good, and I love the little LCBO - much better than the one-winery shops some other stores have. There's also a PC Financial mini-branch, a dry cleaner's, and a Leonidas Chocolate that I have almost, dear god, almost always managed to walk by. The big deal with Loblaws is the President's Choice products. In the late 80s they did two things really well; 1) prepared foods that didn't taste like they were frozen in the 1950s 2) ethnic foods for white people. OK, maybe that second one sounded a little more snide than I meant it to, but PC was honestly the first time many anglo-saxon Torontonians went "Ko-bee? Ko-bay?" "Memories of... where now?" and took the leap into tasty new foods their parents had never heard about. Quality is generally great, if not 100% (their frozen pad thai used to be horrible), and it's still a safe place to try something new. They stayed with it by introducing the Blue Menu products when everyone was finding out about trans fats, and then by offering an ever-growing range of PC Organics products. They still keep an eye out for food trends - I hear they have a new Korean Barbecue sauce! read more

When I need to do all of my grocery shopping under one roof, due to weather or just time-saving efforts, this is my grocery store. It has a wall of cheese, butchers, a huge organic section and pharmacy, and the biggest Loblaws produce section I've ever seen. Beyond this, it has all of their black and white tile slick branding, that so many find so attractive. It's just pretty. The adjacent Joe Fresh is more on-trend than the Queen W location, and there is an LCBO and florist. Just all kinds of stuff. Your one stop stuff shop. Bob Loblaw's law blog approves. read more

This location used to have a reliable butcher counter. I'm not sure what changed but I recently bought a steak that was packaged on the day I bought it and when I opened it the smell almost floored me. When I complained to a manager she didn't offer me a refund or an apology but did offer to forward my name and number to the department manager. I never heard from that person. Whoa! Some pretty crappy reviews for this location. This used to be my go-to Loblaws when I lived in the hood. And I'll say that they've never been a perfect grocery store. But I could always find most of the Global groceries here that I needed, along with makeup, health food and just about anything else. If you don't live in the hood and shop here all the time, I can see how it would be hard to figure out where some stuff is. Because of the large Jewish and Philipino population nearby, there is a huge kosher section and you can find lots of south east asian food stuffs. Sometimes there seems to be little rhyme or reason for why things are in the aisles they are. I will say that Sundays are sparse here. Or at least they used to be. I've gone in on a Sunday and found that they are entirely out of many vegetables or the ones left are of an unsavoury nature. Extra star for the LCBO and flower shop downstairs! For entertaining, this location is one stop heaven Especially if you're on foot or a bicycle. I could have bare cupboards at home, stop in on my bike and have a show-stopping three course mid week dinner complete with flowers and wine ready in an hour! I used to live two blocks away from here, and I LOVED this Loblaws. At the time, I hadn't been to a big Loblaws anywhere else in the city, so I had no idea that these sorts of gargantuan stores existed everywhere, which I now know they do. It's definitely overwhelming to do groceries here at first, but once you get an idea of where everything is supposed to be, your shopping gets much easier and you start to love having a million different choices -- this means you have cheaper options, not to mention the delicious President's Choice stuff that keeps getting better. Prices aren't as cheap as Food Basics or No Frills, but they've got good produce and lots of selection. Sometimes you just want to pay more for the leisure of not having to pick through all the fruits. Plus this was one of the first places to have those ramp escalators that you can bring your carts on! Not that exciting now, but I swear it was life-altering at the time. read more

I'm only giving this Loblaws 3 stars because I can't get overly excited about any grocery store in general, but this location is a pretty good one. If you don't drive and you're unfortunate enough to live along the completely desolate Bathurst and St. Clair to Bathurst and Avenue corridor, this Loblaws is an oasis in a desert of otherwise starvation. This complex is basically a mini city of its own. One could actually survive and live out their whole life here if they were so inclined. There's an LCBO to satisfy a person's beverage needs. There's a Joe Fresh store where one can purchase all of their indoor and outerwear needs. There's a fake little "coffee shop". There is an extensive floral department, a drycleaner and there is a delightful little chocolate and gelato shop. The best part is the fact that this Loblaws is located directly above the subway station, so that one can get the hell out of this no man's land and head downtown. Also, despite being located in ritzy Forest Hill, the prices here are quite....kosher, if you know what I mean. read more

Easily the best Loblaws in the city. They have everything you need and sometimes way more stuff than you'll ever need. The staff isn't the best here, it's sometimes very hard to find something when you need help. However, they have the best selection of food and Longos or Whole Foods can't beat it. Two and a half stars. This Loblaws proves that size does not matter. This seems like a huge store that would have lots of selection, but everytime I go, I am let down. The last time was before a camping trip. I came in with such high hopes, took a special streetcar trip thinking "this is going to be the only store I need to visit. They'll have everything on my list." BOY, was I wrong! Example 1: you need graham crackers to go camping, right? What's camping without smores? The only box - seriously! 1 box! - was large enough for 10 camping trips and cost almost $10. I do not need THAT MANY graham crackers for camping. Strike one Example 2: pizza sauce in a plastic container. For adding to pizza when you make it at home. I looked everywhere. If they do sell it, it's well hidden. Guess what? Strike two Example 3: Dehydrated milk. No luck anywhere. I looked near the carnation canned milk, and near the real milk. They even had a section for milk replacements, but it was Lactaid and soy milk. Nothing useful for camping. Are you seeing a pattern here? Strike three for the big Loblaws. Yea, it's big. But big is not better. (I also couldn't find pesto there, but really you don't want my whole shopping list, do you?) So, I went back to Yonge and St. Clair to the within-walking-distance Sobeys(http://www.yelp.ca/biz/sobeys-toronto-2) and guess what?? They had EVERYTHING on my list and then some. Damn, Should have gone there in the first place. Lesson learned. read more

This Loblaws is better than the one on Eglinton Ave. Most of the employees here know their job, are quick with customer service and try to serve us in queue. The fish counter carries an amazing choice of seafood, including fresh octopus at times. I found their quality of scaling and gutting of fish varies depending on who does it. This store is spacious, clean and has a great selection of natural products. read more

Closest Loblaws to my house but I travel farther to avoid it and, when I don't, I regret it. Congested with customers, the parking is a disaster, and the customer service is non-existent. If you really want to shop at Loblaws, there are plenty of other locations that are much better. read more

It's a grocery store, and it's big which means good selection. It's not very easy to navigate though.

Whenever I've got errands that bring me up this way, I end up stopping in for groceries on my way home--the selection is unparalleled by any of the grocery stores I usually have access to. (Mostly I go because I know I can get Jaffa Cakes there--sometimes a girl just needs the cookies she grew up with!) I wouldn't do any of my regular shopping here, though. It's a pleasant shopping experience, with a great floral department and a specialty chocolate shop, but the prices aren't usually worth it. read more
