Whenever I've got errands that bring me up this way, I end up stopping in for groceries on my way home--the selection is unparalleled by any of the grocery stores I usually have access to. (Mostly I go because I know I can get Jaffa Cakes there--sometimes a girl just needs the cookies she grew up with!) I wouldn't do any of my regular shopping here, though. I stop into this Loblaws after appointments with my doctor on the second floor. Today I showed up for an appointment and found the office closed, so I decided to do a little grocery shopping. The shelves were organized and almost fully stocked (sales items were not always there, but that's to be expected). What really makes this a 5 star experience is the customer service. I got to the checkout and realized I didn't pick up a reusable bag. Carol, the lovely cashier, ran down to customer service to grab me one (I was walking with a clear limp, as this was super appreciated), and was pleasant, helpful and friendly throughout our interaction. I also witnessed some new employees being trained and I was impressed by the thoroughness and friendly manner in which the training was being done. read more

I used to love this place but I recently went and bought some pizza buns which were 4 days away from expiring but turned about 30% green within 2!!! Disgusted!!! The only reason I am giving anything above a 1 is because their fudge in the bakery deserves accolades. Overall.. use this location with caution!!! read more

Yes, it's just a supermarket but I love Loblaws. It holds everything and anything you could possibly need at affordable prices. Everything is easy to find and clearly marked. Sections are segregated in a logical manner and in the event that you fall wayward, the staff are always eager to help you find your way. read more

I really like this Loblaws and always have. I like the selection and the atmosphere (except when kids play on the piano upstairs, lol), and most of the staff are very nice. Found out, though, that the cashiers aren't allowed to keep a water bottle at the cash, and they only get a sip of water once an hour? What?! Someone should look into that. read more

On the whole I like the store. The staff are helpful when you can find someone. Unfortunately they don't stock shelves properly. They run out of items often and expiry dates suck. I do like that it is just a short bus ride from home. So happy yo hear there is another store opening at Yonge and St. Clair. read more

For the most part a clean and spacious grocery store with a good selection of diverse ethnic foods in various aisles and an okay hot tables take out section. Produce department has a good selection of veggies and fruits.. Natural/Organic food area is pretty well stocked too. One thing I can see for improvement is for staff to minimize the amount of intoxicated individuals in/out the store who harass customers for booze $$... sometimes you will see them outside the main entrance aggressively accosting people for change.. other times you will see them in the underground parking lot area getting into people's faces... and a few times you will even witness them inside the store scaring away old ladies and very rich customers.. Other than the above mentioned issue though, this Loblaw's has a lot of potential to be a pleasant shopping trip for those who can afford it (it is a bit pricey unless they have major sales going on) An alright place otherwise. read more

I am so fed up with this store. What follows is an honest review from someone who has been a customer of this location since it first opened its doors. Negatives (here's what's wrong): The prices for so many products are not listed and it's not just that they're not listed on the floor, they're also frequently not listed in the system. The result? They end up wasting your time and holding everyone up in line behind you. During peak hours, there have been many occasions where there are not enough registers open to satisfy the check-out needs of customers. The produce department is underwhelming and when I've had the opportunity to shop elsewhere, I've paid far less for far better quality. I am often looking for items in this section that are basic and should be in stock on a regular basis, like dill. On one occasion, when I did happen to find dill, it came with an unexpected "gift"--a family of dead moths! As for expiry dates, I have found expired products, like meat and soda pop, that were being sold at full price. Consuming overdue meat can be dangerous. The frozen section at the east end of the store is sparse, at least in comparison to what it offered some years back. For example, there are few truly vegetarian products available. Live music, a superfluous specialty cheeses section and a new free coffee stand do not eclipse the fact that too many grocery and other store essentials are lacking significantly. Why are customers being charged for bags? Environmental reasons? Greed? I can't rule out the latter explanation, but the former one I can. What do they think most people have to buy, if they don't buy plastic bags to bring their groceries home in, to dispose of their household waste? Lots of PLASTIC trash bags! Longos isn't cheap either, but at least they bag your groceries without reluctance and provide as many bags as are required for free! Post a public review if you are unhappy. There is no reason for anyone who has had similar experiences to continue to put up with sub-standard, or worse, service. If you must shop here, do yourself a favour and check your bills. I have overpaid for items many times. Yes you do have to return to the store with your receipt and present it to customer service, if you realize you've been overcharged after bringing your groceries home. However, at least you will be reimbursed for the full amount and if you still want the item, it will be free. Positives (sorry...there are only 2): 1) Convenience--located above a TTC station. 2) If you happen to notice that they've overcharged you for an item or items, the item will be free upon return to the store with a receipt--however, I believe this is true for most if not all locations. read more

Who designed this Loblaws? It's ergonomically evil! I don't normally review grocery chains because they are all the same, but this one is so incredibly non-user friendly that it deserves a look. The entrance is shaped like a Z so that when you turn the corners, you are certain to run into a person with a large cart trying to exit while you enter. There is only ONE tiny single-person door through which all entering and exiting customers must pass. If you want to hit the LCBO, you MUST do it prior to getting your groceries because otherwise, you will have to walk in a giant circle to get back to it. On the way up to the actual store, there is a flat escalator that accommodates shopping carts but NOT people. What about plain old people who want to walk inside and carry a basket? They must wait behind all the people with carts in order to enter the store. Finally, the baskets themselves. They are inconveniently located behind the only escalator that brings you into the store so you have to make an awkward U-turn in order to grab one at which point 20 other people behind you are trying to make the same turn and everyone ends up bumping into one another and apologizing profusely. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Seriously, Loblaws, who is your architect? Also, I am a student and your prices are too high. read more

FYI - there is a good chance that when Loblaw's charges you full price that you can get your item for free.. I have stopped going. Selection is good, location is good. However, the staff are not trained to help, acknowledge you, or make you feel welcome. Also, it takes forever to get done and out. If I am going to pay double what I pay at No Frills, I expect a lot more. Very unfriendly experience. I finally complained to the manager the last time I was there. Better to go the No Frills, Fiesta, anywhere. What a disappointment. read more

I've been using this store for years and the selection of the products and the cleanliness are declining rapidly. Products are disappearing and never show up again. The distribution of the products are not logical at all, for example you can find jams at 3 spots of the store, plus the organic section, which is OK. To find a customer service person is impossible and the cashiers are way too busy to help you. I've started to go further to find a better quality & service. read more

We come here often and always order the take out chicken and potatoes. The chicken is ok and the potatoes are super. Prices for this dish are good. In general the deli is one of the best in a city where there are few good delis. They even have a decent montreal smoked meat onc rye. But in general prices here are pretty high, but i am only recimmending the chicken and especially the potatoes. The potatoes are unique. read more

This is my go-to Loblaws and I've been a patron for years. However, I recently purchased a New Zealand rack of lamb (+ $30 -- so not cheap) for my guy's b-day dinner. It looked A-OK in the packaging and was nowhere near the best before date, but when I went to prepare it the next day and opened it up the most FOUL odour burst forward, and the meat inside was slimy and gross. Guest would be arriving soon and I actually ended up having to order takeout from a nearby Italian place (7 Numbers - which was phenomenal and I will write a review on shortly). Considering the expense and the situation it put me in, I will think twice before purchasing meat at this location in the future as standards seem to have slipped. read more

I've recently moved into the area so this Loblaws location is extremely convenient. However, it is possibly the worst designed store I've been in. The street entry is very small and usually bottle-necked with shopping carts. People cannot enter and leave at the same time. You have to pause and let them exit or enter as the case may be. You then have to walk a small path through the florist's, along a narrow hall and up a ramp to the store. If you drive, it's much easier as this store seems to be designed around cars and the carpark. Aside from that it's very expensive compared with Sobey's or Metro. I've started doing my grocery shopping further afield just because I save so much. One last note is about Loblaws in general: they proudly promote their beef as being "corn fed" as if that's a good thing and worthy of the exhorbitant prices they charge. The renovation bugs mentioned below are ironed out, and yes the flagship store in Maple Leaf Gardens is the template for the other Loblaws renovations. This is a good plan. What they can't renovate at the St Clair and Bathurst store is the basic hugely inconvenient layout. Primarily this means the nuisance of parking a car, if you can find a space, picking up a buggy and getting into the store. There are very few disabled parking spots which, given the aging demographic, are almost always occupied. If you park at ground level, you pick up a buggy and ascend a "movator" to the store proper. The jumbo buggies and the awkwardly placed aisles make for blockages and cranky shoppers. The better parking solution for me is to drive up the ramp at the west side and park on the same level as the store proper. The only problem here would be for the feeble as it can be a tough uphill push from the store exit back to the parking with a heavy load. Downstairs the flowers are okay, but the liquor store is small with a limited selection. Re the pharmacy, I have not been impressed by the uncongenial staff. After all this qwetching (sp?) I must commend the quality produce and huge selection of products. No criticism there. read more
