Was looking for a place to fill our bellies this morning prior to a Georgia Southern University tour. Didn't want the usual Waffle House, IHOP, Cracker Barrel spots that you can find anywhere so we decided to give Loc's a go. Upon walking in it was a nice amount of people which was surprising for a weekday so immediately I thought this must be really good! Well after ordering our food at 10:15am...SOME of our items came out at 11:17am! Now when I say SOME I mean an order of shrimp & grits with only the grits coming to the table...Ummm isn't it a cohesive dish? We waited and flagged our waitress who had to "check" with the kitchen. In the meantime, hubby decided to place his cold grits back under the heat lamp. The waitress ran over to assist and said she will bring the dish back so that they could remake it and add the missing shrimp. Meanwhile...my chicken and waffle dish hadn't arrived. When it finally did, it was lack luster...The chicken was under seasoned and the waffle was lukewarm if that...let's just say the special strawberry butter on top of the waffle didn't melt! SMH. One of our favorite place to eat while in the boro. We love their breakfast. They're usually crowded so go early. My son ALWAYS gets their chicken and waffles and says they're the best he's ever had. I always get the deluxe plate and usually share the meat with my husband. You get bacon and sausage. So I give him my sausage and he orders an extra waffle and eggs. They're omelette is also very good. The coffee comes in a cool double lines metal mug that keeps it warm. :) read more

I've heard about this place a lot since moving here so decided to give it a try. It's a sit down type restaurant that also has a to go option while walking in. The seating is seat yourself upon walking in, that could just be when it's slow so make sure to read the sign posted. The service is subpar, they come to take your drink and food order and are never to be seen again. We came on a slow day so I can't imagine if this place gets busy what the service would be like. The food is all pretty inexpensive everything is mostly under $10 which is always dope. I ordered the chicken tenders and waffle my parents got the chicken tenders with curly fries; none of us had complaints about the food. It wasn't fantastic but wasn't bad at all. Id say the real deal breaker with this place is the service but overall if I was in the mood for chicken on a Sunday when chick fil a was closed I'd stop in for some food. It was my first time coming here and the restaurant looked clean and nice. I was ordering take out and I got the chicken philly sandwich, fries, and macaroni. The employees were nice, but the only problem was the waiting time and the food. It was only 2 other people waiting with me and we were there for 20-30 minutes. When I finally got my food and went to the car my fries were hot and delicious but my chicken philly sandwich was dry, burnt, messy, and the chicken tasted like a rubber duck. It was tough for me to bite through the sandwich and the sandwich was too small only enough for 2 bites and I paid $9.62 for it when honestly it should have been worth $2.00. I grabbed my macaroni and it was worst. My macaroni had ice chips in it and it was raw and not cooked and looked eggy or soupy and I paid $3.90 for that. I didn't enjoy my food, but maybe I should have tried another dish there. read more

Not the best experience. We decided to try somewhere other than our usual Sunday brunch spot on this particular day. After some deliberation, we decided to give Loc's a try since everyone seemed to be in the mood for some chicken & waffles. Our group of 4 people arrived around 2:15 and were impressed with the size and decor of the restaurant. There was a sign that stated we needed to wait to be seated, however there didn't appear to be a hostess or anyone in designated to seat customers. After about 10 minutes we finally stopped a waiter to ask about seating and he pointed us to a nearby booth (without giving menus). After sitting for about another 10 minutes, watching servers pass by ... someone finally asked if we had been helped. She proceeded to take our drink order and offer menus. After a while later, our actual waitress arrived. We began to place our food orders, which seemed difficult. When my son asked for biscuits (item on the menu), she acted confused and said they didn't have "just biscuits". However, we got that settled, and she did bring biscuits in addition to his order of Chicken & Waffles. The menu itself is extensive and appeals to a wide variety of tastes. Yet there was also some confusion when another person in our group ordered just 2 items off the side items menu. She didn't seem to understand and acted as if this wasn't something that could done. When looking at the menu, we noticed that the Waffles come with Strawberry Butter. Although I am sure it is amazing, there were 2 in our party that didn't like the sound of that, and preferred plain butter. Once again, this was an issue. Our waitress seemed annoyed by this request and when the Waffles were brought to the table, they had the Strawberry Butter. We had to send them back in exchange for the original request. Now after an extremely long "wait time" for our food to start arriving... we were rather bothered by the fact that each order was brought out at various times (including side items being delivered separately as well). No one wanted to begin eating till others had something to eat also. Once all orders were out, our waitress was not to be seen. Everyone was in need of drink refills. We ended up stopping another waitress and asking for assistance. When we were ready to leave, we asked another employee if they could let our server know that we were ready for our bill. She then came to our table with the check and we then requested a box for left overs (which she did bring us). Needless to say, overall the food was delicious. The Chicken & Waffles were a huge portion. The Waffle Sandwich was amazing as well. Everyone LOVED the hash browns and the biscuits and gravy. Yum! I would not recommend the Mac and Cheese. I was disappointed that it was clearly Kraft Mac and Cheese. I can't say if we will be returning to Loc's. My husband and I are more open minded to giving it another try. However, the kids (college) are completely opposed to coming back, which they are the ones that eat out ALL THE TIME in Statesboro and get together with friends at restaurants. For them I think the overall disappointing service outweighed the food quality. read more

Our waffle platter was missing the strawberry butter and sweet/spicy syrup. Had we gotten that I'm sure this would be a five star place. So I ordered the chicken wings and waffle. I mean it's the name of the restaurant, right? So I received my order and it was so hot and fresh and it smelled amazing! I couldn't wait to dig in. I loaded the waffle up with the strawberry butter and a little bit of syrup. And when I took the first bite it was heavenly!!! I couldn't believe how soft and moist the waffle was and the strawberry butter was divine! So I broke off a piece of my chicken and went looking for the sweet and spicy sauce that they advertise with it and behold, no one had put it in my bag. I was so disappointed. Please take your business somewhere else. The food was the only good thing about our entire visit, and it was still mediocre. The service was dreadful. After we got our food, we didn't exist in that restaurant. All the servers sat in the corner rolling silverware. They swept around our table while we were still eating. We were finished with our food, and we had to wait for about 20 minutes for someone to bring us our check. During that time, ALL the workers in the restaurant were hanging out at the cash register, and nobody was paying attention to us or the other couple in the restaurant. We looked over and noticed our waitress was cashing out her tips while we were waiting for the check and our boxes! She finally looked over at us, grabbed the check, and brought it to us and said "whenever y'all are ready." Well we were ready for 20 minutes, and you didn't care. We heard one woman complaining they didn't make any money today. Well, if they actually took care of their customers, their customers will take care of you. I fully believe your tips reflect your service. If this is how they treat your customers, I'm eager to see how much longer this restaurant stays in business.
