This place continues to amaze me. Who would have thought that Statesboro would have an amazing Indian spot? Went for an early Valentines dinner date last week and there was some fun live music. The tandoori lamb chops are delicious, as is the mango lassi. I'm usually disappointed with mango lassi because it's so often sickeningly sweet, but this one was perfectly balanced and a great way to cool down your palate after eating some of the spicier dishes. Was visiting from California, and I am a regular Indian food eater locally.... But I can say without question this was some of the best Indian food I've had. It is clear there is personal care and attention to detail in every dish, and every drink. We had multiple items: butter chicken, palak paneer, vegetable samosas, gobi manchurian, chicken wings, naan, tandoori lamb chops, peas pulao, buttery chili lobster, gulab jamun, and to drink sun, sea & sand, Naseeb, and a bartenders choice gin old fashioned. I'm not exaggerating that every one of those dishes were outstanding. In a nutshell- I don't think you can go wrong with any dish here and you will leave satisfied and wanting to come back and try even more. Recommend this place 100%! read more

Not too bad of an Indian Food option in Statesboro. I got the shrimp Korma, and the taste was pretty good, but there were too many almonds added. The garlic naan was REALLY good, and the rice wasn't bad. The reason for three stars was that I had to pay for rice. I've never had to pay for rice when ordering an Indian dish, so I don't really like that. And the extra almonds were a bit too much for me. Staff were really nice here, and the lunch crowd is pretty busy. I ordered some food to go, and that came out at the perfect time. I spent about $45 for my lunch (including the to go option). Pretty normal for Indian food, but the itemized list was a bit pricier for the portions I received. read more

The food was 10/10, everything tasted fantastic. The chicken curry was my favorite entree but the garlic cheese naan was my favorite overall. The cream cheese filling was the perfect addition and I love cilantro so that was fantastic! Delaney was our server and was on top of everything and had great recommendations for my first visit. Never went thirsty as refills were always there before you could even ask! The atmosphere is great, I enjoyed sitting at the high tops near the bar. The bartender is skilled and my barrel aged house cocktail was delicious, a tequila manhattan. The tandoor and tap house beer was also delicious, nice and light. Hands down one of the best restaurants in statesboro with fantastic selections all over the menu. If you're looking for something savory tandoor and tap is your place, only thing that is pushing my rating down is the service. We were not given a refill and or an extra plate when asked but were quick to give us the bill. Overall, the food was amazing, I would recommend the Chicken tikka or the butter chicken. The service was something I can somewhat look past but I was very pleased with how the dishes were. I would recommend trying to call ahead as wait times were nearly an hour. read more

I passed through this college town, finding likely one of the few vegetarian-friendly restaurants of note in the area. It lives up to the name, with a brick-lined interior next to the city hall that seemed as focused on being a bar as they were on serving Indian food. The thing that I was interested in was their chole puri, chickpeas with fried bread for dipping. This was a hot and fresh dish that was spicier than I expected. The bread wasn't enough for dipping all of the chickpeas, which I attribute mainly to the portion of chickpeas being generous (I didn't want more bread). It was robustly flavored food with some whole leaves and spices in the chickpeas, but also a lot of oil. It's comfort food. The mango lassi I got on the side was thinner in texture than most such beverages (they're based on yogurt); it wasn't bad, but not something I'd jump at ordering again. On the food side, I wish they had some smaller appetizers or salads and soups, but there was plenty on the entree menu that I'd be happy to try in the entirely likely circumstance that I stop here on the way to the beach once again. read more

Best happy hour in Statesboro! Friendly bartenders, hosts and wait staff. I do wish the owner would greet us though. I'm not a big fan of hot spicy food. And even their low Spiced food is still too hot for me. But still worth the visit for drinks. Haha. And most of my friends enjoy some heat. I know it's Indian food but a green vegetable as an appetizer would be helpful for those trying to lose a few lbs. A couple of years ago I commented to my husband after watching something British that the British order their Indian food and curry's like we American's order Chinese food, and at that point we decided in our 4th decade of living on this planet that we needed to give Indian food a try, and since we live in Statesboro we went to Tandoor and Tap. During our first family foray into an Indian restaurant we let our server know that we had never had Indian food and she was very good at explaining what the different items were and how people eat the different items, either in a naan or with rice. If you don't do hot spicy then Indian food is probably not for you, fortunately in my family we are all fans of the burn and found the Indian food to be delicious. Over the past 2 years we have either eaten in or gotten take out many times and have never had a bad experience. I read several reviews complaining about the prices, especially in proportion to portion sizes. I have never not had leftovers, even my sons who are currently 18 and 20 years old and eat massive quantities of food as they are going through the period in their lives where they are putting on massive amounts of muscle and bone bulk before stopping growing. After trying a number of dishes I have determined that the Jalfrezi Mahi is my favorite on a bed of rice, and I regularly get 3 meals out of this dish, my sons and husband generally get 2 meals out of their selections, sometimes three. The other complaint I have read is service related and we've never experienced bad, inattentive or rushed service. The restaurant is small and during peak hours it can get loud, especially by the bar area, but not obnoxiously loud so that you can't hear other people at the table. Came to statesboro for a kids soccer match. Hard to find some thing to eat other than chain stores. This place was excellent. We ordered chicken tikka masala, vegetable jalfrezi, rice, Nan and vegetable samosas. All very well prepared. The chicken tikka masala was done properly: chicken tikka obviously grilled and then added to the masala. Most Indian restaurants will just cook the chicken without properly grilling it in the tandoor. This one you could taste the smoked grilled chicken and it was slightly charred. The samosas were fresh. Made to order, so, hot and fresh. Naan freshly made and authentic basmati rice. The vegetable jalfrezi was good but would prefer with no sugar at all. The bar area where we had lunch was cozy but to my surprise they had a very nice outside area that could serve big groups of the weather was nice. Chanced upon this place in Statesboro, of all places! I would have never thought, but I'm so glad we went here. The restaurant looks like a small place from outside but it's huge inside! They have a large dining room, a bar area, and a covered porch in the back where they allow dogs. They also have live music some nights (Thursdays I think?). We loved the ambience here, as well as the food. The owner AJ was very friendly. He came out and introduced himself and we enjoyed talking with him and learning about his family and how he decided to open Tandoor and Tap here. The service was fast! I was impressed with how quickly our server brought our drinks and food out. The food was authentic and delicious. My favorite was the kadai shrimp but everyone else (kids) loved the butter chicken with the garlic naan. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be stopping here again. Holy Crap Statesboro! I don't know how you did it but this Indian food restaurant was the bomb. This sleepy little town that's home to Georgia Southern, is finally getting their dynamic mix of the population that resembles the rest of the country. Thai food was great but waning Vietnamese and Korean is at its peak, now comes Indian. This place is really deceiving upon entry walk though the restaurant to sit in the back which houses the outdoor portion of the seating section. The bar was quite busy with their seemingly new regulars. The bar menu is nothing extraordinary, Georgia brewed beers, some upscale mixed drinks and a bunch of other stuff. Then the menu really portrays two distinct categories vegetarians and NON-Vegetarians. A nice subtle way to indicate that many Indians are indeed vegetarians and are well taken cared of here. The other portion displays a mixture of Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Shrimp, Fish, and Goat. The flavors that are mentioned in the captions of the preceding pictures were prominent and and up front. Expertly cooked and displayed in a traditional metal vessel that resembles traditional serving bowls in India. The pleasure was all ours as AJ (one of the principal owners) visited our table after we spoke with the other floor manager about how we were enjoying the food and I wanted the back story for this new venue. Needless to say his family made the move from Chicago, (geez can't get away from this place!) and wanted a slower pace of life. I commended that he took a big risk and it was paying off. I am hopeful that some people who have children attending Southern, would take up with opportunity to patronize this place. Smack dab in the middle of downtown across the street from the theatre. While in Statesborough for my eldest daughters graduation, I asked her to recommend a good place for lunch. As always, good wasn't good enough for her. She recommended great, instead. What else could I expect from a Suma Cum Laude graduate? Both of us being big fans of Indian food, the choice was Tandoor and Tap. As hungry as as we were, there had to be an appetizer; so, chicken samosa it was. Served golden brown with a crispy, flakey, texture on the outside, and a moist, flavorful interior, this meal was off to a good start. I did find that the spicy sauce provided (possibly red garlic chutney) did go quite far toward enhancing the overall flavor, however. On to the bread: garlic naan. This, in itself, I could have made a meal of. Soft towards the center, crispy at the edges, and all around deliciously chewey and packed with, but not not over powered by, garlic crowned goodness, I admittedly had reservations about using it to sop up the sauce from the main course. It was that good on its own. So, "what was that main course?", you ponder: Lamb Vindaloo. The menu rated this three out of four stars on the mild to quick, pour me a glass of milk scale, which seemed about right for me. And, just right it was. The lamb and potatos practically melted in my mouth while maintaining a firm texture, with a lingering flavor that was far more simply hot. Each ingredient seemed to have its moment to shine, which is no small feat for a spicy dish. Now, in contrast, but equally delicious, was my daughters choice, Chicken Tikka Masala. Now, granted, I got only one bite of this; but, one bite was enough to know that if this were the only menu item, I would have been equally as satisfied with it, as I was with my own choice. Both entrees', two appetisers, and the garlic naan totaled just under sixty three dollars, which well worth the price. This did not include the tip, which, if you eat here, I encourage you to be generous with. The staff were all friendly, and attentive. The sevice was appropriately prompt and efficient (if you've ever been elsewhere and received your appetizer after the main course, as I have, you'll clearly understand and appreciate "efficient"). No worries at the Tandoor and Tap. It's all good. read more

What a surprise to find such a great cocktail menu, excellent craft beer list, and AMAZING Indian food in Statesboro and in the same restaurant!!! The best saag paneer I've ever had and a really solid lamb korma. The naans and jeera rice were also spot on.
