I'm not sure what all the hype is about this place, but I was not really impressed with it other than being new and something different in Statesboro. It tastes like any other barbecue place except I just thought the meat had an extremely strong smoke taste to it and I'm not that type of a barbecue eater. Being new to the area had to try this as one of our first places to eat. Hands down those baked beans alone make me want to go back! So, last night we took my mom and dad to Jim N Nick's for my dad's birthday. It was their first time, but my family goes at least once a month. Our server was Amber, and her attention to detail was superb. We got the 3 meat combo plate with an additional jalapeno sausage, baby back ribs, and chicken tender meals. You can tell that the meals are all smoked and prepared with love and care. I have loved Jim N Nick's BBQ since they first opened, and I recommend everyone to give them baby back ribs a try. The price of food compared to the amount of food served is absolutely reasonable. The half rack baby back ribs comes with like 8 or 9 bones, and 4 fills me up giving me the opportunity to have 2 meals for the reasonable price. read more

Been waiting to go to Jim n Nicks for a minute. The lines have been so long I figured I would wait till the crowd calmed. So just after 8pm Tuesday I was hungry and drove by and moderate crowd so I pulled in. Let me say I used to eat at their place when I lived north of Atlanta and would visit. It's a beautiful facility, very clean and tidy. Bathrooms are nice, even though you could have 100 people easily and 1 urinal and 1 toilet. Decor is fantastic.... Couldn't want much better. Due to some injuries I have become a meat eater. If I have like a hot dog with wheat fillers my hands feel like concrete. If I have vegetables the oxalates do a mighty work on my joints and inflammation starts wrecking my body. Therefore it's always like a LB or two of meat, no veg, no bread no sweet tea. I was informed you can't eat a LB of meat by itself in the restaurant. Only takeout. So I said give me 1/2 LB pulled pork 1/2 LB brisket. Nope! Against the rules! So it's aggravating and the little gal was nice and doing her job. The gentleman suggested a plate w meat and leave off vegetables. So I ordered. You can see I was up charged for ribs and brisket which are in the board as up charges. I also was given the opportunity of having chicken or turkey for no up charge. They don't quite have the nutrients I was needing. I also asked 3 times to have no sauce and the kitchen even came out and said is this right w no vegetables and I explained and said no sauce. Well. As you see.. I got sauce and 2 biscuits. This is a great place and if you eat the standard American diet have at it. I'll just have to take it to the drive thru since I'm not allowed to order as I wish inside. I will try those deviled eggs. Just sorry I didn't see them before I came home. Depending on what was in the sauce I may have a really bad night sleeping. It's taken years to find what my body can and can't do and it's still a work in process. When my order came I told the gal I asked for no sauce and she offered to have it remade.. I said no. I'll eat it. Well, let me tell you, it didn't disappoint! Lots of barbecue places you have to dunk the meat in your unsweetened tea because it's dry as the wood they cook it with. No sir! Not this, everything was juicy, not just because of the sauce. I mean it had juice and flavor and... wow!! Give it a try, and I'll wave as I putter thru the lonely drive thru... or I'll just go back to my regular places so I can sit inside and eat like a regular customer. read more

Very disappointed 1st time visit in Statesboro, GA and won't be going back! I ordered a loaded baked potato topped with beef brisket. The potato was barely warm and the beef brisket was nothing but little crispy pieces of brisket and half of those little pieces of brisket was burnt and hard to eat. I was expecting at the very least a couple of slices of brisket on top of the potato. I believe the potato had been laying around for a while because it was barely warm and had that old yellowish look to it. I hate having to pay for something before you get it not to mention they want you to leave a tip before you receive your meal. Nope, never again. First impressions are everything and I will not spend another penny at this place. read more

The only reason I give it a 2 is because you have to stand in line to get your food like a cafeteria style restaurant. This is awful. If it was a full-service restaurant, I would give it 4-5 stars for sure because the food is good but will probably not come back because of this. read more
