The only entity that should be facing legal action is Alternative Beauty Academy for the way I was treated, threatened, and put in unsafe situations. You put me in harm's way by allowing a hostile environment. There was a grown woman in her 30s, with two children and a boyfriend, threatening to hurt me when I was only 19 years old. She confronted me over things as small as me saying I could clean the pedicure bowl, and she repeatedly lied about situations like we never talked ever. Instead of protecting me as a student, you allowed it to continue. At one point, Trina was even blocking the door while the 30yo was angry and threatening me. No student should ever have to experience that. Michelle, you repeatedly asked me for my honest opinion about your teaching. When I finally answered truthfully, you screamed at me in front of the class. Don't ask for honesty if you can't handle the answer. You were gone for nearly four weeks, yet you became angry when I expressed concerns about the instruction. In the beginning, things were fine, but once clients became the priority over students, everything changed. Anytime I spoke up about legitimate concerns, the situation was turned back on me. Throughout my experience, I found the school to be unprofessional, unprepared, dismissive, and lacking accountability, respect, and understanding. Against my better judgment, I also allowed students to do my hair, and they severely burned my hair. That should have never happened. Another issue involved my tax documents. I was told I had to pay $100 to receive my 1098-T form. When I contacted the IRS, I was informed that schools do not charge students for their 1098-T. I simply asked for the school's EIN because I file my own taxes, but instead I was told to either pay the remaining balance or pay the $100. I paid the remainder of my balance. So where are my tax documents? When I asked to review the enrollment contract because I wanted to understand what responsibilities Alternative Beauty Academy had under the agreement, I was questioned about whether my mother was "behind this." My mother wasn't behind anything. She simply wanted answers about what she had paid for, just like any parent would. Trina, when your son had an expensive car payment up to 3k, I'm sure you wanted to know where your money was going. Michelle, when you wanted to send your nephew to school, you asked questions about bills and contracts too. So why is my mother wrong for doing the exact same thing as a parent? The reason these conversations escalated is because of previous incidents, including the day Michelle pulled out a firearm in front of my mother. It appeared as though she was trying to make it seem like she was putting it away, but I know it had already been put up. Despite that, my mother kept her composure. We were not about to lose our freedom because grown women refused to conduct themselves professionally or respectfully. What happens inside a school should never involve intimidation, threats, or creating an unsafe environment for students. I know I'm not the only person who feels this way. Despite everything, I genuinely wish Alternative Beauty Academy the best. This experience taught me an important life lesson. I'm glad I eventually started researching businesses before trusting them. If I hadn't been so trusting or, honestly, a naïve and had done more background research, including checking business records and credit history, I probably would have recognized the warning signs much sooner.

Bailey was my student colorist and had not done balayage before. I was very impressed with her professionalism and commitment to learning a new color technique. She was engaged, fun, smart, and made sure I had a positive experience. She has all the great qualities needed for a successful future in this industry. The Learning Leader Angela was not a good educator. This was not my first time at PMTS. The previous LL I've had were hands on, supportive, encouraging, and engaged in teaching the students new skills and time management. That's what a school is! Angela did not do this. The LL are the experienced professionals. Although, I question Angela's experience with color because she never touched my hair or taught Bailey anything. Bailey had to rely on other LL and students. Angela's poor time management skills caused my appointment to go past the school closing time. She told me three times I would have to come back another day to finish. I told her it was not an option to leave the salon without my hair complete, and was frustrated she kept telling me to leave without a finished color service, even suggesting I take time off work or figure out child care to come back (completely clueless and inappropriate suggestions). It was disappointing to see an educator not take her responsibility seriously to empower and teach the next generation of her craft. If I have any future appointments scheduled under Angela, I will cancel them.

I flew in from the DMV for a wedding and did my research on yelp and Instagram for MUA in the area. I kept seeing Blush on the Blvd come up on my results and was happy to see they had just one availability left. During my appointment the conversation with Tara was great, she was kind and she made me feel comfortable during an already hectic day. When she completed I initially didn't even see my face, she recorded a clip on her phone and played it back to me and I was shocked. I looked amazing. My skin was filter flawless, my highlight was beaming so naturally too, my shadow was exactly how I wanted it but BETTER. I didn't even want to put my mask on for the Uber ride to the hotel to prevent it from smudging. Tara made sure my face was beat and it stayed beat and in place the entire night. We joked around how previous clients were wanting sleep in their makeup to push it the next day...... I get it. I stayed up an extra 30 minutes to make sure all pictures were taken. The next time I end up in Saint Louis for a wedding I'll make sure to have Tara in my schedule.

Still haven't heard from her on my refund. I had Christmas pictures and had to cancel my pictures. I would not recommend!! Horrible work ethics and unapologetic. Not to mention I traveled from north county all the way to the south side.
