Why I haven't written a review yet for one of my happy places is beyond me! I've been coming to studio 703 in Chesterfield every since my girl J.C. moved there around ten years ago. Front desk staff is always attentive and ready to help you with whatever they can. Almost every single person I've ever recommended to J.C. (which is a lot at this point lol) has decided to stay with her and for good reason. She's the best at what she does; so much so that I've paid for the bride's hair and makeup in any wedding I'm in so we can use her/703 because I don't let anyone else touch my face or hair. I've uploaded a variety of photos to show her versatility and ability to bring your vision to life! Also, if calling to schedule makes you anxious like it does me, they have an app for that! You're easily able to plug in the services your wanting along with the staff member to see not only availability but also pricing, talk about transparency! Expensive, but nice salon. Clean. Pleasant atmosphere. I've used 2 stylist and both did a great job with my hair.

I spent a lot of money for a lot of nothing. Not even two weeks ago I went in for highlights to brighten. It's all one color. It's blah. A salon with these prices needs to make sure they hire quality professional people. A stylist that listens and doesn't respond, I don't know- it's your hair! Studio 703 is a salon like no other. I've had a few different stylists in the 15 years I've been trusting my hair to the salon. I've lived in KCMO for over 5 years now, and I still drive back to Studio703 for hair appointments. Their attention to detail, professionalism and culture of constant learning are just a few things that set them apart in the industry. It doesn't hurt that you leave feeling/looking like a million bucks. I can't recommend this salon enough. I also can't recommend Kat enough. So a little backstory. One night I decided to cut my hair and give myself bangs, for the first time. No idea where this over confidence or spontaneity came from, but I guess there's a first for everything. And no, I was not going through a major life change. Needless to say, I did not successfully give myself bangs, good bangs anyway. I had bangs alright but they were pretty uneven and choppy, and it was not the look I was going for. Studio 703 was able to fit me in ASAP. Kat was the hair stylist I had, and she helped salvage what she could. She fixed them up nicely and gave me honest advice. My bangs are not at all what I envisioned, but Kat helped tremendously. They also have a nice little waiting area with a few chairs and magazines. Everything is very clean, and they have a nice selection of products. I ended up purchasing a mini hair spray that Kat used to style my bangs! read more

The service I requested was SPOT on! The quality of my cut was off the charts, EXCELLENT and the vibe was so welcoming, fresh and inviting. The staff were all smiling and always are each time I visit. To me, it says a LOT if not more so than verbal conversations. Such a friendly place with high-end stylists at reasonable pricing! I love their shampoos & their conditioners too. They have a nice fragrance and styling your hair is so manageable. Curls are long-lasting and healthy hair. I have battled my extreme curly hair all my life, which, as an fair skinned Irish decent woman , is a source of contention and frustration. My youth was during the, parted in the middle long straight hair, generation. So I always had fizzy, wild bush like mass of hair, regardless of the extra large curlers with gigantic amounts of a gel or glue called "dippity do"! Over the years, it's been a challenge to find a stylist to work with my curls. After much research and trial and error I think I have found a perfect place and stylist, Kate, to work with the curls, that are now more silver than brown! I love how she took so much time accessing my curls then worked through each part of my head. I've never had anyone be so meticulous! Came in for a consultation with Kat and then made an appointment two weeks later. She did opposite of everything we talked about. The touch up did not match, the gray did not take, and she thinned it out more than we talked about and cut it way too short. I have never been so disappointed. I know the service was guaranteed for two weeks, NO thanks. Another salon could not believe the mess my hair was and said it will take about two to three months for it to grow. What can I say about Shawn, Dee and the Fabulosity Crew at Studio 703? A friend introduced me to this amazing place in 2004 and I have never considered going anywhere else. In fact, I now live in Belleair, Florida and continue to plan all of my visits home to St. Louis around my hair appointments with Shawn! I have sent many friends here... and I don't send my friends anywhere unless I'm really, really sure they won't be disappointed. By day I play an IT professional, but at night I play myself - rock singer, recording artist, and cabaret performer. Having a hair style that is current, flattering, and most of all represents "me" is really important. I have had a lot of styles in my day (can you say "spiral perm"?) and this is absolutely the first and only hair cut I have ever, ever had that is truly wash n go FABULOUS. If I have a show or a photo shoot I can style it out -- but if I want I can just as easily come out of the pool, shake it dry, and look great. Really. Like going out to dinner great. And don't even get me started about my color! Not a week goes by when someone doesn't ask me, "where did you get that HAIR?!!!". Seriously, I am sometimes amazed myself that this is actually my hair. Shawn has somehow given me the hair I never thought I could have...it's all in the cut, baby. Co-Owner/Operator Shawn Summers has been my stylist since day one and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He and Dee Broderick take great care to hire quality, highly professional people who are genuinely committed to making people look great and feel good about themselves. The vibe is upscale but still cool, casual, and friendly. You feel as if you've slipped into some kind of time warp and have been transported to the type of place you'd find in LA, Chicago, or New York, but its totally comfortable. Everything about the place makes you feel welcome, relaxed, and refreshed when you leave. Over the past 8 years (wow!) I've gotten to know Shawn, Dee and their amazing team and I can honestly say that they are all just the kindest, coolest, nicest people you would want to meet. My husband made the appointment at 703 for me as a surprise. Normally, I get my hair trimmed for $20 and do my own coloring at home. I usually do not like my hairstyle and I end up wearing a pony. I showed up on Sat for my stylist, Missy. We talked and I told her about all the issues I had with my hair and why I didn't like it. I told her she could do whatever she wanted with the style and color. She explained some of the reasons why my hair acted the way it did and she explained it in a way it made sense to me. She was very easy to talk to and she made me feel more comfortable than any other hair place I have been. I was completely satisfied with everything that she accomplished. Color is great and I love the style. Husband thinks I look "hot". Only problem I have is duplicating the style that she so easily did when she blow dried it. Guess a little practice and getting some hints the next time I come in will help. I will definitely be back to see Missy and find out how her holiday weekend went at the lake. I've been here twice. The first time was fine. I really enjoyed the blonde and cut. The second time was not great. My color is way too dark. It was so far off from what I wanted. I should have known it wouldn't end well after I showed her a picture and she responded "so what exactly am I doing?". I said "I don't know maybe lowlights but I don't do hair so whatever you think to get this color in the picture". She put three foils in front and a dark gloss over the everything else. Now I look like a teenager who picked a box dye that was too dark and forgot to get all the hair (because I have the - exactly 6 horribly placed highlights). I don't hate this salon but now I understand why their prices range from stylists to stylists. I got what I paid for. read more

I had incredibly high hopes for this place (being that their reviews were fabulous). I made an afternoon appointment and everyone was incredibly friendly. The color consultation went well -- and then it was time for the cut. Hack. Job. I kid you not -- I explicitly asked to keep my length as I am trying to grow my hair out...I now have choppy layers inches from my scalp. I am not one to get upset about a haircut -- I have had short hair before and I have dealt with it. However, the haircut itself is absolutely TERRIBLE. The length in the front doesn't even match (it's off by almost an inch!). There was a point in time where she was cutting my hair horizontally -- yes, like a bowl cut. It looks like a mullet and a bob mated on my head. Seriously tragic. In addition to this, after 3 days of shampooing, the color that was promised to cover and keep the copper tones in my hair at bay is turning up -- you guessed it -- copper! It is incredibly possible that I got stuck with someone new...or perhaps it was just an off day for them. I'm not sure, but I'm probably not going to risk a second shot at it. read more

I've been going to Amy since I moved here in May; so far, so good! I found her when my husband nominated me for a makeover and I never looked back. She recommended some changes to my current cut and color, and was able to work within my parameters for hair care. Basically I require something that is wash and wear - no blow dry, no heat style, and minimal product. Not an easy task for a stylist to work with, but she did it and I get lots of compliments on it! On those humid days when my thick curly hair looks like Pink Panther just stepped out of the dryer, I just don't tell people who my stylist is :-). I am in love! I finally found my new hair salon. After my last hair dresser moved out of Saint Louis, I have to admit that I let my long hair just keep on growing without a trim for the last 10 months. Then, this past Friday my twin sister wanted to get all dolled up for our birthday party that evening so I decided to go with her. I ended up just wanting to get a hair cut but it was so much more than that. I had an appointment with Missy and she was absolutely amazing! I went in for a color and haircut. I loved what the stylist did, but my hair showed grey a week after being there. I went out of town and called 2 weeks and a day after the color and they refused to fix it unless I pay for the service. This is the second time I had color done at Studio 703 that was messed up. Like most guys, I went to the national chains for years...and time after time, they would butcher my hair. Once I found someone who was of any quality, they would move on, and I'd end up with someone new. I kid you not...at the end of my last haircut, the stylist had to get her manager's approval before I was allowed to leave. Enough was enough... My wife had been going to Studio 703 for years, and she set me up for an appointment with Shawn. Needless to say, I had no idea what I had been missing. What a difference it makes to have a true professional cut your hair. I no longer had to worry about watching their every move, because these guys actually know what they are doing. I was surprised at how many other businessmen were in this place when I stopped in...I guess they figured things out long before I did. You'll be surprised what a good quality haircut will do to your confidence...Don't just take my word for it, you need to check this place out. I learned about Studio 703 when my hairstylist began working here a couple years ago. Since, she has moved on elsewhere, but I still love this salon. When people want their hair colored, I always recommend they come here. This is where I get my hair colored. You can get your hair or your makeup done here. The owner is a photographer and does a lot of work with models. That fact makes me very comfortable in coming here. The prices aren't too crazy and the staff is nice. The decor is urban and I really like it. One problem is that they are in a little strip mall and I drove right past them the first two times I visited. read more

I don't like to post negative reviews and I feel bad writing this, but my experience was so bad I feel like I need to. I scheduled an appointment online, which I thought was a nice feature, and went in for a full head of highlights last week. I brought a few pictures to show my stylist what I wanted and made it clear I wanted to lighten my medium/light brown hair to blonde. The girl was really nice. Like really, really nice. Which also makes me feel bad about writing this review. When the highlights came out it wasn't even close to the color I wanted or has shown her, but initially it didn't look bad. I assumed it was just hard to make brown hair blonde. I should've noticed the red flag, though, when she did not show me my hair in the mirror until after it was dried. She trimmed a small portion off the bottom, put in some choppy layers and said I was done. She did not offer to style it either, which isn't a necessity but is usually done. I paid (it was very expensive) and left. When I got home I noticed large, obvious stripes near the top of my head. I later found out this is from the color bleeding because too much was applied too near the scalp. Not only were there these horrible lines, but the highlights were very choppy and not even close to my head in many places. When I went home (to Wisconsin) to have it fixed, my salon I've gone to for 20 years said they had never seen anything like this. Now, I understand making mistakes. She was young and probably newer, but she should have told me instead of hiding it from me. She shouldn't have let me pay so much money for her awful work and not offered to fix it. It's a poor representation of this salon that has so many other positive reviews. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
