I booked and paid $90 specifically for a curly haircut after explaining that I wanted more curl definition, styling guidance, and a cut tailored to my natural curls. Instead, the service felt more like a standard haircut than a specialized curly service, and I left unhappy with both the styling and overall result. Anna was very sweet and did try to correct the styling when she realized I was unhappy, which I appreciated, but ultimately the experience did not feel like the specialized curly service I had booked and paid for. UPDATE: The owner reached out after my experience and offered me a complimentary appointment with another curly hair specialist. I decided to give the salon another chance, and I'm very glad I did. My second experience was completely different. I was extremely happy with my hair and, just as importantly, I left feeling educated about my curls and confident that I could recreate the results at home. My stylist took the time to explain the techniques and products that worked best for my hair, which was exactly what I had hoped for from the beginning. I really appreciate the owner listening to my concerns and making an effort to make things right. While my first experience was disappointing, I'm very happy with how the salon handled the situation and with the service I received the second time around. I would definitely return for another curly hair service.

Great location. Hallie did a wonderful job on my haircut listening to exactly what I wanted.read more

What I left with was a chemical war zone on my scalp and hair that looked like it had been through a haunted car wash. The stylist completely botched my color. It was patchy, uneven, and flat-out fried. I looked like a spaghetti squash that had been left out in the sun. Worse. I went back to give them a chance to fix it and it somehow got even worse. The stylist acted like they had never seen a toner in their life and honestly seemed like they were not in a sober state to be handling bleach or scissors or any other living creature for that matter. I ended up going to another salon just to undo the damage and they were horrified at what had been done to my hair. After spending over six hundred dollars and enduring two appointments from hell, my hair is still damaged beyond repair. Think straw with commitment issues. Do yourself a favor. If you value your hair, your time, or your dignity, run in the opposite direction. This place should come with a warning label and a fire extinguisher.

I've been waxed by the same company for 5+ years, and was still making the drive even after moving,…read moreso when my Waxer left the industry, I decided to find a place closer. This spot had great reviews and was literally around the corner so it was worth a try. A little more expensive than my current wax, but my time and energy was worth more than saving a couple dollars. This place is it. It's amazing. Such a cool, welcoming space. So clean. And Meg? She's amazing. Also, she's 100% worth the price because she's so thorough and careful. You really do get what you pay for, and after my appointment with her, the price is MORE than fair for what you get. She was so friendly, so welcoming, and made me feel so comfortable. As someone who has gotten waxed a long time, I can appreciate that, but I can only imagine what it would be like going to her for the first time, probably one of the best experiences! Highly, highly recommend.

I have super sensitive skin and am very picky about where I get waxed because I've had some gnarly experiences. I cannot recommend J3 enough. Meg is a dream and she's always willing to work with me to accommodate my schedule when I forget to make an appointment and it's a last minute wax emergency. Some major pros: They use a spray to help with the pain up front They use a special lotion and will send you home with a packet of it that has special antibacterial properties to help with healing They sell some great products so it's a great little on stop shop They're super close to clementines so you can treat yourself to an ice cream for going through the wax. If you have curly hair, Kyra is That Girl!…read more I have been wanting a curly shag forever and my past stylists have either been too afraid to do it or thought it would look mullet-y, so I thought I'd try a curly hair expert. Multiple reddit threads and FB groups later, I saw enough recs for Kyra that I was ready to give her a shot. The salon itself is so cute and eclectic--the coolest thrifted decor! And I was greeted with an offer for a drink and gladly took a hot coffee on a freezing day, which was a great way to get started. Then I met Kyra who was SUCH a good listener and she continued to educate me on what she thought would work for me, told me we could always get more funky at a future appointment so I wasn't too shocked, and walked me through all the steps of styling so I could recreate her magic at home. When I tell you that she gave me the cut of my dreams, I mean it! 70s vibes with defined curls and a routine that won't take me three hours. I genuinely can't wait to go back. GO TO KYRA!

I'm really disappointed with my experience with Jason. I had been intentionally growing my hair out…read morefor a flow hairstyle and had built up quite a bit of length and volume, particularly in the back. I specifically told him that I liked the volume and length and wanted to keep it in some areas- mainly just refinements and adding more layers. Unfortunately, he essentially did the opposite and significantly tapered the back essentially undoing months of growing out. What's most frustrating is that this wasn't simply a misunderstanding about the style I wanted--I specifically pointed out the part of my hair I liked and wanted preserved, and that was the area where the most hair was removed. I had spent months growing it to that point, and now it will take several more months just to get back to where I was before the appointment. I understand that not every haircut turns out exactly as expected, but listening to the client--especially when they clearly identify what they do and do not want cut--is fundamental. I left feeling like my instructions weren't heard, and unfortunately this isn't something that can simply be corrected with another haircut. In my case, what a stylist charges and their "level" aren't indicators of their ability to listen or their skill. In the future, I'll ask what the stylist is planning to do before they proceed.

I genuinely held the belief that salons were not for my kind of hair because of this experience. They continually guilted me for my hair texture and implied that my hair was the way it was because I didn't comb my silk press when I came literally 4-6 months later and had washed and restyled it many times before then. From my experience the 3 black stylists from blown away are leaps and bounds gentler, kinder, and more patient. If you have softer curl patterns or are not tender headed this is a great place to go. The hairstyles look good and they can get you in and out fast. If you're anything like me, I would run as fast as I can away. I hate this place.
